Chetspeak on Sunday
Bernie brought the other pipe in from the car, set the two pipes side by side on the kitchen counter. By that time, we had all the water mopped up and everything looked ship-shape, as Bernie put it, but wasn’t Little Jazz a sort of ship? Meaning how could it be car-shaped, or tree-shaped, or any other kind of shape? I puzzled over that and then I didn’t. All I knew for sure was that I was Chet-shaped. Good enough for me, amigo.
“Look pretty much identical to me,” Bernie said. “But one’s good and one’s a piece of crap, although that quote is hearsay from Duke, which is like piling crap on crap.”
I smelled no crap in the vicinity, none at all, which was actually kind of unusual. Piles of crap would not be something I’d miss. But I believed in Bernie. Crap had to be just around the corner.

C.Hobbit, we had our septic test fail when we were selling our last house. It was a very wet spring, and the septic testing dude mistakenly thought all the wet in the drain field was due to our septic system failing. Mom and Pop wrote what amounted to a blank check, by signing to do whatever the buyer deemed necessary. They didn’t want to miss the opportunity to buy this farm. Turned out that when they re-tested, all was fine.
Lastly, look at this towel we have been using in our powder room all these years, without really looking at it closely until now! WWBSS !

Mom will be inspecting the car more closely in the light of day since another longish drive is planned later this morning. The crunched license plate does not bode well. We are hoping the “crap right around the corner” Chet is referring to does not include us. Paws are crossed.

Back inside. Barb cleaned out the car (a much needed job). Cut a little more grass. Ran to the local Menards and got some suet cake that was on sale, had some lunch and read another chapter.
Now waiting for Joshie, who is going to stop by and repair the screen damaged by darling little LuLu. Filled in the hole she dug, but then Fred re-dug it yesterday. Fred’s dad fixed the bird feeder wire that Fred jumped up and broke the other day. What’s with all these destructive members of the nation within? I never do anything wrong!

We’re baaaaack! And so tired we can’t see straight. Pookey posted yesterday afternoon but she was careless (not getting the ipaw to herself often) and got moderated. About 3 or 4 hours later it showed with the fotos (yesterday) so don’t know if anyone say it. Mom is too pooped to pop so if you want to see the nice things she said to almost all with special days, look there. Except BooBear’s mom: Happy b-dat to you too.

O.K. Barb and Maggie may be the only ones who appreciate this one. Mom has one chicken whose name is Peg. And she has one whose name is Peg. So she just now played Peg her song, and all of the girls, but especially Peg, loved it. How do we know? They gathered around Mom and cooed and clucked and their eyes glazed with happiness.

This vacation thing is really terrific. First, yesterday I got to meet my best pal Rose and the Grizz too. They are both so very nice and they even gave me a really yummy chew treat. It was great fun.
And then today, this Vermont place is really awesome. First thing this morning we went for a hike up Mount Tom, and then all the way around the lake on it called The Pogue. The whole hike was at least three miles, and dad said that I did so good, we might try five miles tomorrow. And the smells up here are absolutely terrific too. My gosh, more interesting smells than I have ever smelled before. And it was really cool this morning when we got up, something like 46 degrees, whatever that means. And there was this really cool thing called fog too. Really, really nice. I think I am going to like this Vermont place a lot. I just wish my friends Rose and the Grizz could have come too.
And SiberH, my dad says yes.

Just realized we typed Peg twice. The other one who we wanted to mention is Helen. She is the fastest chicken on the planet, and Mom always calls her Helen Wheels. When Mom played that song, all the chickens ran as fast as they could into their coop!!!! They are definitely NOT Rock ‘n Roll Chickies!!!
(Although, Helen did come back out to join Mom for part of it).

News for TeddyRR’s Dad and Barb and any others that read Tony Hillerman’s novels:
Tony Hillermans’s daughter, Anne Hillerman, has a new book out this Tuesday that takes up where her dad left off. It is called, “Spider Woman’s Daughter-A Leaphorn and Chee Novel”.
There was a big article in my newspaper this morning about the book, but they didn’t really review it. Mom thinks she will be brave and try it soon.

Ok – the cellar is already for the new furnace. The Wrotten Kats are going to have to live in Mama’s work area in the den. They will not be happy about this, but we all have to be inconvenienced for the next three days.
Mama is snickering because she will not have to be here for the commencement of the uproar. She will be acting as a chauffeur, and may not come home til who knows when.
A chauffeur, you ask. Yes, because tomorrow is the day that Melanie has to go for the biopsy of the diamond she is growing in her liver. So, take a moment tonight and tomorrow morning to send positive thoughts that there is a negative result on the biopsy.

Thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes. Last year was celebrated at the hospital with Dad, so this day was way, way better even though Mom was doing work from the home computer all day.
Rio, Mom loved her card and found it very appropriate. Why, I ask? We almost never, well, hardly ever, leave yucky hairballs around to surprise bare feet.
Melanie, you are wrapped up in furry paws and many, many hearts and prayers tonight. Try not to worry too much. More times than not, these types of things are simple, easy to fix BENIGN problems. Amalia, please keep us posted!

Teddy RR is really doing well. He handled a 12 hour car ride yesterday without missing a beat. And he is a real natural on carriage trails — just loved the hike this morning, including all the great smells.
