Chetspeak on Sunday
I ran onto the loading dock. Still some light left and I could see Peanut clearly. She was on the ground, walking toward the perp’s old – what was the word? – jalopy. That was it. She walked over to the jalopy, lifted one of her huge round feet and stomped down, crushing the whole front end. Why? I had no idea, but I liked it, liked it a whole lot. Then Peanut raised her trunk high and blew a beautiful trumpeting sound up toward the darkening sky. I loved that trumpeting sound – as good as Roy Eldridge or better – and was hoping for more, when the baboon blew right by me with a whoosh of air, flew out into the night and disappeared from view, although not before I saw that he had the sombrero.
I jumped down onto the ground and went over to Peanut. This was the Peanut Case, meaning she was my responsibility. First I had to get her attention. That probably meant waiting until she’d finished crushing the jalopy’s back end. It didn’t take long.

RIO! I have watched the first part of the O.J. movie. I lived through Madoff and O.J. too. It is kind of weird watching these stories re-created on screen. Both were very well acted. There is no punishment harsh enough for either one of those two rat finks. Please let Beau know that although I am not a football fan, I will be praying for the Broncos to win, win, win!

Joe and the Snowhook team left Two Rivers checkpoint an hour or so ago after a 5 ish hour rest, started out slowly and are now up to a vigorous 7 miles an hour. Go Snowhook!
Aliy Zirkle was passed overnight by Jesse Holmes for the lead and she is closely tailed by Ryne Olson. Go Aliy!
In the 1000 mile race there are 7 or 8 big name front runners all resting at 101 checkpoint. Go Brent Sass!

Birthday day! Today is my razzle dazzle birthday! However, I will be busy watching the Damn Pixie watch the race. She needs constant supervision. She says will breathe again once the team reaches the 101 checkpoint after a couple of really tough climbs and descents.
Rio: Doc and the Thieves will be delivering the vat o’ beer to watch the big game with you and Beau. I think it was very nice for the NFL to have a Belle Starr Invitational called the Super Sparkle Bowl in honor of my birthday.

I am not one to check reviews very much, except for books, but as promised I looked a little further into the Hannah the Pet society. I landed somehow on Yelp reviews where my worst fears were confirmed. They promote themselves as a pet insurance program, but all the care has to come from them and is often inferior. The same goes for the food they provide. If you get a pet or sign your own pet up then THEY own your pet. It is hard and expensive to get out of your contract in spite of what they tell you initially. One reviewer was forced to pay $127 per month even though 4 months into his contract he had to move out of area to care for his ill elderly parents. That seems to be the tip of the iceberg. Ugh and bad karma to this horrid business. That is all I can say.

Thanks for doing more research on Hannah. It sounds really like a big $$ maker for the company, and not one that has the best interests of our canine friends.
I love TFAT, and I think it is one of my favorites. Chet just couldn’t understand why he could not herd Peanut. And take it from someone who has a herding dog, that ain’t easy!
Thanks for another nature video, Staff. That is a big commitment, since judging from the name Nature 365, there will be one a day. And we are only up to day 38.
I haven’t decided whether to watch some of the game, or to put in a movie I got from Netflix.
Going to put on some pork and saurkraut, in honor of the Howlers, and then go for a nice sunny walk.

HOH: Referring to your earlier comment about cars going through ice: We have had a strange winter in Wisconsin this year. For quite awhile we had sleet and rain and warm temperatures. Then suddenly the cold weather attacked us. Many eager ice fishermen unwisely went out on the ice before it was safe. Sad to say, two of them lost their lives in the town just north of us. And we have had balmy temps into the high 30s with melting the last few days. Stay off the ice, is what I advise!

Linda, I am making a pork roast from our recent pasture raised piggy (sorry little purple pig). Howlers always have pork and kraut on New Years.
We had not heard about the tragic ice fishing story, but this weekend in Lake Geneva several cars went thru the ice. This was Ice Carving Festival and they always put cars out on the ice in early winter and then take bets on when they will break thru. It never happens as early as the festival.
Where are you in Wisco? My boss has a home on Green Lake near Ripon and it is beautiful there. He is trying to sell it for a million-two, but no takers so far.

Our Peep went to 2 diggerent hospitals today to visit friends. When they camr home. the DDD decided to nap. Funny thing was 4 different groups of friends came by to see the progress on the house. No nap for the DDD but fun jumping up on the friends for us.

Y’all need to check out a video about the training of the Budweiser Clydesdales. It’s about 10 minutes long but OMD, how incredible. I believe it’s called the road to the Super Bowl. No talking, just amazing horses and trainers.
Mom has been doing house cleaning and only half watching the game but has finally sat down. She saw the end of the half time show and really like the performance by Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Cold Play. She will have to go back and watch Lady Gaga.
