“This must be Chet,” said Mayor Trimble. “What a handsome dog!” The mayor turned out to be a round little guy with more than one chin, very big ears and a string tie. In short, what wasn’t to like? “Happen to have some nice rawhide chews,” he said. “Can he have one?”
Bernie sighed, for no reason that I could come up with.
What a mayor did, exactly, was anybody’s guess, but one thing for sure: we had the best mayor around. Soon I was lying on the floor at Mayor Trimble’s side, working on a rawhide chew, tough and tasty, just the way I liked. The mayor introduced everybody – “’Course you already know Cal Luxton, head of security, and this is Vera Cobb, chief of staff.” Then came handshaking, hello hellos, and nobody took a single sniff of nobody, all very human, and everyone sat down.
Mayor Trimble rocked back in his chair. “Pleasure to have this opportunity to renew our friendship, Bernie.”
“Is that what we had?” Bernie said.
“Any mistakes were mine,” the mayor said. “Real or imagined. I should have patched things up long ago. Everything goes by so goddamn fast. Agreed?”
“That everything goes by fast?” Bernie said. “I won’t argue.”

Chetspeak from the new book next Sunday!! We love all the Chetspeak.
I have never watched an episode of Breaking Bad. However, I have followed it here on the blog and in my newspaper, which has given it a lot of coverage. My newspaper would like all of you Breaking Bad fans to know that you are only seeing one side of Albuquerque in Breaking Bad…the seedy side.
When this final season is over with and Rio has seen the last episode, will one of you Breaking Bad fans please tell me what happens to Walter White.
BTW…The cast and crew of Breaking Bad always interacted with the community here and did a lot of charity work and giving to charities while they were filming here. They have been the favorite of any production that has filmed here.

Dawson: Head bumps to you. You warm the cockles of my heart.
We received some good news from the vet yesterday. They received some of my lab results and it shows I don’t have clotting issues. My Lady says this is a relief because there was great concern about clotting issues given the amount of blood. Three, count ’em, three rugs were harmed—D.E.A.D.—in the making of my last health episode.
The Giant took my Lady on a date yesterday to the state fair on account of my Lady getting free passes for volunteering for something or other. They had a good time just wandering around, but crowds are not for them. My Lady had fair food for the first time—delish. After their date, they went rug shopping, but I forget why.

Well!!! Mom thinks she should have more days of peace after losing Gus BUT I have to establish my position has CCIC (Chief Cat in Charge) in this household now that Gussy is gone. Yes, that does involve alot of hissing, spitting and in general, being a be-acht!! But some of these boys (Putter, Lefty–named after a certain thief at Snowhook, Tig and Tucker)seem to think they have a certain “gender right.” Well, since any gender bits have been removed, I THINK NOT!!! The fight is on!!!!

Dear Tenzing, I understand your Lady’s worry when she saw the blood. YSAS, always dramatic, had a bad cough when he was about seven. My brother was visiting, Thank Dog. I heard YSAS screaming in the bathroom. I opened the door to – yes, just like your Lady – a slaughter house scene. I was getting ready to rush him to the hospital when my brother said not to worry. It was just a bloody nose.
It was. AND, it was one of those things I wold prefer not to remember in detail. snicker.
Dawson, it took forever for the Newfs to get all that together. Well, not the hair that was the easiest. Hope you enjoy the stamps.
The compost got soaked after the last two storms. Methinks the tarp I am using to cover it has sprung a few holes. Now I need to let it dry before putting in the runners. Then I can water it again. Makes no sense, but what am I going to do?
Now I have to find my natural allergy stuff. I can’t see out of my left eye.

It is the last day of our town’s fair. Very big thing here. Zoë and I were thinking of going but instead of $5 per car it is now $10 per person. That is just to get in!
Quiet day at home instead. Except our sneezing.

Melanie: I was so excited about all the goodies that I completely forgot about stamps, heh heh, although I did notice a butterfly stamp on one of the envelopes.
I am going to try a recipe called Boumiano from Jane Gregson’s Vegetable Book (I love this book). It calls for eggplant, which I just purchased at the farmer’s market, tomatoes, garlic and anchovies. I am going to add mushrooms. Oh boy! Also making cream of mushroom with wild rice soup today. Too hot to go outside.

Rio: The scene where Walter was at Jesse’s saying, “You have to believe me, Mike is ok”, was very interesting. Jesse’s body language made me think Jesse does NOT for a second believe Walter. Not sure if Walter believed Jesse but those two do not trust each other and will both be planning against the other. And then there is Hank.
And the flash forward scene with Walter, still alive (and sporting hair), retrieving the ricin at the devastated homestead. Hmmm.

I retreated to my rooms after doing the gutter. I don’t know what is in the air, but it is my enemy.
I don’t remember if I’ve told the blog that I have special screens that cut down on the allergens coming in . . It also keeps the dust in if I haven’t dusted for awhile. Guess what? Sneezing everywhere.
I moved my rooms around last year before the poop hit the fan. I am just getting things back in order. I was cleaning out a desk drawer and came upon a package of fishing hooks. Huh? I haven’t fished in YEARS.
I’m keeping them for OTAS. He’s the only one who fishes right now.

Barb just told her bro Dave that SQ is going to be in Durham, NC for a book signing. Dave is going to try to go if it fits with his doctoring schedule. Barb has given him all the books in the series. Last one we had signed to Riley his Chessie.
When Jack was here on Friday, I kept following him from room to room cuz I love him. He got up on the big easy chair and said “Maggie, two paws up” so I put my front feet up on the chair. Then he said “Maggie, four paws up”, so I jumped all the way on the chair (I really don’t know the 4 paws command). Then he looked at Barb and said “does she know 2 paws down?” Barb laughed and I stayed on the chair.

I forgot to mention this morning how glad I am that Mr. Tenzing got a good report from the vet. Mom is forever grateful for the care he showed Gus while they were sharing the quilt.

I have to go back to the vet tomorrow for more lab work, whatever that is, but my Lady says I’m acting more myself. I don’t fee tip top, but I always feel like Tenzing.
Yesterday at the fair, the Giant and my Lady went to see the animals. My Lady insisted. She saw something she couldn’t resist. Before the Giant knew it, my Lady was crouched down, reaching through the fencing and petting a baby piglet. My Lady looked to her left and saw a two year-old doing the same thing. To her right was a four year-old also doing the same thing. Her pride was gone. However, it was long gone the day she and I met.
My Lady is sorting through all the wonderful auction items. Wowser!

My Lady better get cracking on repairing the gavel and the Bid-O-Matic 3000. Both took quite a beating during the last auction. It could be that one was used to, er, repair the other.
A big thanks in advance for all youse who have volunteered at Auction Central, primped and primed photos, donated items, plan to bid, and those who support Snowhook by being some of the loudest voices in our cheering section.
Auction Central: My Lady says to get your orders for hotwings in now. AJ will also bring in the kegs—one with water for Teddy and the other with beer for a certain pug—later this week.

Answer!…”Experimental”…snort-of!…heh!…She is looking at some of the Experts Pieces and trying to teach herself the techniques, because those guys do NOT SHARE…sniff!…She is using cut up egg cartons to form the pieces. I’m sure the “Experts” have a better way, but she can not think of one. Plus chickens have been on her mind lately…heh!

Chickens! My Lady saw chickens yesterday, too. She thought of Chicken Lady Barb and the Howlers and their little chicks. She did not find herself shoulder to shoulder with toddlers to pet the chickens. Apparently, she only saves that reaction for Beau-like creatures.

Question!…Would youse all like to see how this major project comes together over a long period of time??…sniff!…She says she will photograph the entire process because it is a “Next Level” sort of thing for her…chuffle!…So it will be a learning experience in both or multiple senses if youse all want to watch it happen…grunt!…More work says me. But then again, Barb, I am only a Pug. ..heh!

Staff, dad is a flashlight hoarder too. I have already warned him that he can’t keep every one he buys. The merch has been trickling in. We are having a hard time being excited over every. single. knife, flashlight that comes in, but he has ordered some pink ones. One flashlight is smaller than mom’s pinky, but it will knock your eyes out. IOHO the website is not quite ready for company, but we will post as soon as it is.

“lab work” snicker. Macy, I had heard of Kat Scans, but not lab work . . Next time I have to get my blood drawn should be a hoot.
In Harry Potter, when Harry, Hermione, and Ron go on the “lamb” (snort!) Hermione has a purse that carries “everything”, I wonder if that is where our pride and Junior’s eyebrows have gotten to. There are days that in my purse with a bottom, I can’t find what I know is in there.
