Good morning, everyone! Hey, Callie and Roscoe are V.S.P. (very special pups). What a great connection for the nation within and without!
Have a sweet Saturday, y’all!
9:09 am on April 26th, 2014
As soon as “message from our sponsors” came on, I clicked off.
Good morning all.
9:31 am on April 26th, 2014
Great story about Callie as therapist dog.
9:43 am on April 26th, 2014
Great Therapy Dog Story to begin the day! (official or not, we are ALL therapy dogs at heart…highpaws to Callie)
9:45 am on April 26th, 2014
Callie, who’ s a good girl? Actually a Great (Pyr) girl!
10:04 am on April 26th, 2014
Good morning. The Blockhead had some more horse training this morning, and then they let him loose. He immediately started harrassing Chato. Ned came over, ears pinned, and chased the Blockhead. Then all the horses and Zeus ran around chasing each other. Pop finally got Zeus to come, and put him on a leash, and practised a bit more. Then he let him off again, and this time Zeus followed Mom back to theyard. Whew! This kid is wet behind the ears, as the 2-leggeds say. The ‘rents say he is midway over this hurdle.
10:36 am on April 26th, 2014
(Darah) I am so proud of Zeus for jumping over a hurdle 🙂 And he is putting up with horses, that is better than Chet. Zeus go, big guy!
10:42 am on April 26th, 2014
Morning all.
Hobiit – your trip sounds so wonderful…except the part about the hot air balloon. Mama is so afraid of heights, she won’t even use a stepladder. But the food…oh my, that does sound good.
Howlers – are Zeus and the horses playing? Or does he still need to understand the hierarchy?
Callie is blushing. She really is a good girl, but she can’t be an official therapy dog like Gramp wanted. There is a standard test that dogs have to pass, and part of that test is sitting, laying down and heeling on command. Did we mention that Pyrs simply don’t do obedience?
But with or without the therapy dog vest, she will continue to go see Gramp, and any other resident of the rehab who needs a big, white, fluffy dog hug.
11:03 am on April 26th, 2014
Bee, we had to click on to that site 3 times before we got rid of the chocolate ad. So annoying, but it was a good article.
Off to a church service for Lyla’s First Communion. Later gators.
11:08 am on April 26th, 2014
C.Hobbit: Your Trip to Turkey does sound wonderful. We too were envious of the visit to the rug factory. Hmmm…did you spy any Carpets of the Flying variety while you were there?
Royals: We know everyone at the Rehab Place is Loving Callie’s visits to Gramp. How proud he must be!
Zeus: It’s a Whole New World at your furever home. You are one lucky guy.
1:05 pm on April 26th, 2014
Hobbit, our mom is so jealous of your trip, it sounds like a wonderful adventure.
T&G’s Mama, Perhaps a “fake” dog vest for Callie that says “Official Friend to All”. That’s the ticket!
1:09 pm on April 26th, 2014
I’m certified as a therapy dog and I love visiting the nursing homes and hospitals around here. I used to go visit people that I knew, but couldn’t visit the general population of the homes until I was certified. It has something to do with insurance.
The first time I made an “official” visit was almost the last time I did it. Several of the female patients cried when I left their rooms and my dad felt as though he had gone to the home to beat up the old ladies. ( I hope it’s OK to say “old ladies”.) Now that they know I’ll be back, they’re more comfortable with my leaving them.
1:17 pm on April 26th, 2014
Here’s a picture of me in uniform. We aren’t allowed to wear a vest on our visits. The only thing permitted is the official scarf from the Therapy Dog International organization

O’Howlers,
I am at the parents house one more day. I leave for the farm tomorrow. I wanted to stay at the farm until the Turtleman needs me in the middle of June. But when he came back from working on the Hell on Wheels movie set (In Calgary Alberta)he said they wanted him back the first week of May and could we do something? I want to help but I really really want to have some time off. More time off than 9 days. We will have to see how it goes. Early June is when the garden goes in at the farm. sniff sniff sniff.

Tyb, you look great in your vest.
1:30 pm on April 26th, 2014
T & G’s Mom,
Callie doesn’t need a vest to visit Gramps. She’s a good girl and that’s all that counts.
I passed the tests, but no one has ever asked me to sit, stay, lie down, or do any of the other test elements when I’ve made a visit. I think that certification is a good idea if you want to visit someplace where you are not known to see people you don’t know.
Most dogs are very welcome to visit people they know whenever they want to.
1:50 pm on April 26th, 2014
TYB: You look Very Handsome in your Therapy Dog International Scarf.
Staff: What a Conundrum! Much needed Rest & Relaxation at the Farm vs granting a bro’s request.
How long would you have to stay in Mpls?
2:28 pm on April 26th, 2014
Apparently a certain Pug who shall remain nameless, thought Gramp needed cheering up. So when Mama went to see Gramp today, she pulled back the curtain and this is who she found

2:36 pm on April 26th, 2014
Hi. Everyone A lot of early Christian history today including underground churches dating from4-8 AD. Nice to see frescoes that I recall from college art history books. Being short is an advantage as I didn’t have to bend over double going through tunnels. Some had a hard time. Our guide took us to one church that mtour companies haven’t yet discovered. It was part of two 5k walks that I did today. I may not be the greatest at climbing but I can go downhill like nobody’s business. I was in the lead a lot and finally left the rest behind and had a solitary walk. One part was through a valley of butterflies so I now know what sprinfest Plunderers experienced.
It is 9:35 pm and I have to get up at 4:15 to go hot air ballooning. Oodles of noodles.
2:38 pm on April 26th, 2014
Oh Rio, are you adventuring again?
2:49 pm on April 26th, 2014
First comes playing dress up with hospital gowns and latex gloves. Next stop—wheelchair races with our favorite tan pug. Does it get any better than this?
2:55 pm on April 26th, 2014
Thieves! I’m in!
3:01 pm on April 26th, 2014
We are going to have to remember Rio’s get up for future disguises. Pancho wants to try his paw at being disguised as a latex glove. Lefty will be disguised as Pancho.
3:06 pm on April 26th, 2014
Heh, heh.
3:23 pm on April 26th, 2014
CHobbiti: Enjoying your travels we see. Don’t forget the fotos!
4:26 pm on April 26th, 2014
TYB: Nana says Don’t Say Old to an old person. Heh.
4:59 pm on April 26th, 2014
Bear Spirit. When the Turtleman first talked about it it was one day which means one travel day, day with Dad, and another travel day. That seemed not too much. Then all of a sudden it was 4 days and two travel days and I started feeling very tired.
Back to pack some more.
5:06 pm on April 26th, 2014
Zeus a.k.a Zukie is now adjusted to horses. It took Ned scaring him, and Pop zapping him once. But he now walks quietly, leading the horses onto the barn. Whi’s a good boy?
5:08 pm on April 26th, 2014
Gah! I used T.C.’s login!
5:11 pm on April 26th, 2014
Staff, Mom says you are a better person than she. Seriously, can’t you have someone else, like a Home Healthcare Worker, do that stint?
5:21 pm on April 26th, 2014
O’Howlers, We are working on that. Hopefully it will work out.
5:29 pm on April 26th, 2014
I thought I’d be safe saying “old” on the blog because none of the plunderers are old.
My dad is probably the senior member.
5:37 pm on April 26th, 2014
Tyb, not only are you handsome, you are cute, heh, heh. The Dr told me at my last visit that 60’s are the new middle age. Mom sure hopes so…so much to do!
Staff, good luck with home health “care”. When the DDD cane home from his accident with fractured spine, chunk out of a leg, and head injury, mom practically had to beg the company assigned to him to come to the house. She waas not a happy camper.
And speaking of campers, hope Siber H and family arrived safely at their campground.
6:01 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose, the bib arrived this afternoon. What a kind and thoughtful thing for you to do.
I, of course, wept. Do a lot of that. McKey will take a picture of me in it in the am and I will put it on the blog. Thank you so much for sending me a bit of my Melanie.
Love, Zoe
6:38 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose, you bid on AJ’s bib? And sent it to Zoe? That is about the nicest, most generous thing possible.
6:45 pm on April 26th, 2014
Masques: not to worry. I have taken 641 fotos and I have a week to go on my travels. Heh (and that was the count after deleting the duplicates and bad fotos)
HOH: when I turned 60, I bought myself a red car. I kept referring to it as my middle age/second childhood car. A co-worker finally asked just how long was I planning to live.
I have woken up at 1:18 am. Still have 3 hours of sleep to go before the official wake up time. Gah
6:46 pm on April 26th, 2014
So that’s who outbid mom! Good!
7:01 pm on April 26th, 2014
Staff, You have given so much of yourself already. Can you check with Medicare and see if there is some possibility for respite care?
Also do you plant your entire garden at the same time? Or do you do hardy stuff first and then the tender plants later? We have at least 6 weeks or more from the time we put the first seeds in till we plant the last veggies.
7:44 pm on April 26th, 2014
O’Howlers, Yes, I bid! and won AJ’s bib. I was so excited to win it, but then I started thinking, since it was Melanie’s Race, the bib’s forever home should rightfully be with Zoe.
HOH, Sorry!
Dearest Zoe, the bib is in it’s rightful home. I love you!
7:46 pm on April 26th, 2014
I am so proud of Callie and Tyb! Youse are great dogs! And Tyb, you are even more handsome in uniform!
8:18 pm on April 26th, 2014
So, Freckle Snoot, who are you calling old ladies?
8:57 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose, you did ‘xactly right with the bib. I only thought of an auction so see, ya done good!.
8:58 pm on April 26th, 2014
There are a few ladies in the nursing homes who have become old, but certainly there are none yet on the blog.
9:02 pm on April 26th, 2014
My very, most, special, best friend, Wose is the most wonderful, most generous, most thoughtful, most kind, most loving, most most, best best ever. The bib for Melanie’s race is in the right place.
Zoe: Head bumps to you.
9:03 pm on April 26th, 2014
Thanks, HOH!
Signing off.
All those in “Hurricane Alley” please be safe.
Pleasant dreams to all!
9:05 pm on April 26th, 2014
AWWWWW, shucks, Belle Starr. I’m just small and meek.
9:07 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose: You are small just like me. You are not meek. You are a warrior against difficult things like lightening bolts. You are special. Case closed.
9:08 pm on April 26th, 2014
I love you, Belle Starr!
9:09 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose is right. There is a lot of bad weather going on out there. Be safe everyone.
9:11 pm on April 26th, 2014
Wose: Mama, here. I want you to know how happy I am to see you back posting on this here blog. When it is hard to keep your grip on the good things like how special you are and how much you are loved, you just let me know. I can grip you by the scruff gently, but just enough so you know I won’t lose my grip. Head bumps.
9:23 pm on April 26th, 2014
Luna, Wose now has Mr. Carrot. This is what she needs to do. It’s serenity now.

Barb, Our garden gets planted in stages also. Some stuff likes the cold and others not so much.
Belle Starr, I agree with you about Wose. Small maybe. But very strong to fight the way she does with her affliction. I am very proud of Wose and think of her as the small and tough not the small and meek. I am happy that she is back posting on this here blog.
Love the video of Loulou rocking her carrot. snicker Rock ON.
