When Sadie was younger, she used to love to hang out windows. However, I learned by lesson when she was around 3-4 years old. She was hanging out a window when I was driving on a backroad and made a curving left turn to get on the highway. Sadie fell out the window! She was okay but I made sure never to roll down the window so far again.

I wonder if Bernie knows this (yikes) From a ProPublica article on Climate Change in the US and potential climate migration of the population:
“Fresh water will also be in short supply, not only in the West but also in places like Florida, Georgia and Alabama, where droughts now regularly wither cotton fields. By 2040, according to federal government projections, extreme water shortages will be nearly ubiquitous west of Missouri. The Memphis Sands Aquifer, a crucial water supply for Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana, is already overdrawn by hundreds of millions of gallons a day. Much of the Ogallala Aquifer — which supplies nearly a third of the nation’s irrigation groundwater — could be gone by the end of the century.”

Hobbit, that’s some scary info. Let’s hope people start taking this seriously.

Hobbit!…So what is the water shortage solution?…sniff!sniff!…Will mother nature stop raining on us and replenishing these aquifurs??…Clouds will go away and no rain at all? Is this the prediction…sniff!…I’m sure I will be dust to dust by then so no pressure in answering what the future will bring…grunt!

Hanging!…My friend has a very good college friend who used to hang her arm out of the car window…snuffle!…Well on one trip with her family over an iron bridge she was doing this and her father had to swerve the car to miss something…yelp!…Well, my friends friend lost her right arm that day by hanging out the window…sniffle!…She was 16 when it happened. She has over-come this disability and is now a Doctor…snort!

Mama here. There is no easy way to share this, but I wanted to let you know that on Saturday night we welcomed Wee Nigel and Wee Nigel’s ears on This Side of the Bridge. The wee lad was hit by a car. The Kennel is devastated…no, that isn’t a strong enough word. For such a small dog, his loss has brought the Giant’s heart to his knees. My Lady, for her part, thinks eventually she will be consolable. She is learning that grief doesn’t have a straight line. This Side of the Bridge has been taking shifts to tend to the Kennel. Beau has lifted the curfew at the Veil so we can come and go as we please.

Here are some things you may or may not know about Nigel…

    – Rio dipped into his treatie fund to help pay for Nigel’s airfare from Colorado to the Kennel. Because of his generosity, we were able to enjoy Nigel.
    – My Lady cried when he arrived in Anchorage. She felt nervous to have such a small dog, what with her only other experience with a small dog being Ole Doc.
    – Any photo of Nigel dressed up happened at the Giant’s paw. Photos of Nigel dressed up always occurred when my Lady was either at work or in bed for the night.
    – Nigel didn’t leave his acceptance into the kennel up for negotiation. He knew he belonged.
    – No one messed with Nigel. He carried himself as the biggest, baddest dog on the block. Who were we to question it his math?
    – Nigel supervised every tour that left the kennel.
    – For the past year, Nigel raised two German Shepard pups. He taught them everything they need to know about being a chihuahua/terrier sled dog. We hoped they studied hard.
    – Nigel has also helped raise his girl, Sierra for the past four years. Together, they both made it through 7th grade math her first year here.
    – Nigel greeted Sierra when she crossed the finish line of her first race. It was a 100 miles and he missed her for every inch of those miles.
    – He greeted each day with ear splitting excitement. He made no apologies.
    – He met with Beau immediately upon his arrival. They discussed his credentials, philosophy, science, ponies, etc. Nigel won’t attend bible study. He will supervise the Thieves!
    – He is loved forever. That can’t be changed.

I wanted to let our Plunderer family know. My Lady and the Giant haven’t been able to say anything publicly, but it must be done eventually; please don’t comment about it on our facebookie until his eulogy is posted. I’m not sure if my Lady will continue to lurk, or if she’ll make an appearance on this here blog soon. Please be patient with her. She and grief aren’t getting along so well.

My love to all of you,

Snowbella and Giant: our Plunderer hearts are broken along with yours. Nigel had such a vital attitude. We could tell that his size held no boundaries for him…a giant if you will amongst the kennel.
He was truly loved and will be remembered in our hearts. Take care dear friends and Sierra also.

Sneeze!…Wee Nigel was welcomed immediately into dis here fold…snuffle!…Of course he wanted my big bed right off da bat..sniff!…We had negotiations an a bit of disagreements. He is a very strong willed fella…wheeze!…In da end he will be sleeping in a very comfortable place in a small wee-sized, but soft, bed on da cloud floors…grunt!…He says negotiations will resume as soon as he gets familiar with da layout of things up here…(yeeep!) Sneeze!

Sneeze!….My thoughts tonight is for Rebecca an Justin as they contemplate life without their beloved Nigel…wuffle!…Dis will be a hard journey for dem because Nigel was a very close family member. How do you contemplate life without a beloved family member??…wuffle!…It is an unimaginable task an yet it will be done. Over much time an tears and heartache. Nigel will be remembered daily. He will never be forgotten an always live on in der hearts…snorkel!

Prayer!…My prayer is for the pain in both der hearts to be lightened by memories of all those Nigel touched during his lifetime…Amen!

To the kennel, our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved Nigel. We could tell by yours and his many posts here and on FB that he was a much loved and had become an important part of your family. Our hearts hurt for you. Time will help with the hurt some but the memories will always be there to comfort you, both his human and his kennel family.

Hugs and love from both Mom and me.
