Good morning, everyone! Snow pellets began falling about 15 minutes ago. 28*F and the DDD is out gallivanting. Hope he can get back up the driveway later.
One worker is here today, the first one we have seen since Friday.
Have a wet, wild, windy or wonderful Wed. whichever you want.

Canceled!
WeatherKat: You are up early to give us the weather report on the East Coast…or have you been up all night? Yeep!
I’m up early for a fitness class since my afternoons are to be spent at the Activity Centre. The activity on Wednesday is usually sitting around doing nothing because no one shows up. Maybe I will get a nap in, heh, heh. Must remember to bring a book.
Then I will try my hand at helping ESL children with their homework…not math.
8:16 am on January 20th, 2016
HOH: I pick wonderful Wednesday.
8:24 am on January 20th, 2016
Better to cancel and all stay safe. We are having a little snow but temps are moderating all the way up to 22 today!
Looks like the east coast is in for it this weekend!
Dawson, your energy level is astounding!
Now, I am off to work. Have any one of those days mentioned by HOH.
8:40 am on January 20th, 2016
Morning everyone.
Our weather forecaster is in his glory. There is finally a real, actual storm headed this way. He has “important storm updates” interrupting into the regular programming. And the updates are pretty much the same thing – it’s gonna snow on Saturday.
Ummm….it IS January. And it IS New England. If we lived in Florida, we could understand the hysteria. As it is, one storm model shows the western part of the state getting a mere dusting. We’ll see.
8:48 am on January 20th, 2016
Barb, Maggie & Lucy: I went to bed at around 8 last night so…not that astounding.
9:23 am on January 20th, 2016
Dawson: Up all night? No, but we awakened at 2:38 am to see the rare-ish planetary alignment, which was a bust because it’s overcast.

I have to go outside with my camera. We have hoar frost today!
Golly gee I hope the hype isn’t true, but if it is you all stay safe! And I hope DDD doesn’t run into any crazy drivers down south there. He can always walk up the driveway…oh no, that would leave the car down there with the crazy drivers.
10:14 am on January 20th, 2016
The other day I came across some pictures I had taken of Florida in December or January several years ago. The fountain near the club house by the golf course was frozen! The water had become icicles about ten feet high. It was beautiful actually. Here it is 18 degrees and snowing a bit.
Stay safe Spence.
Good morning all.
10:16 am on January 20th, 2016
People in the south don’t know how to drive in the snow. They get a little dusting and everything closes down, people leave their cars and walk home. Does seem crazy to us seasoned northerns.
Nothing major in the forecast here. Amalia, looks like you may actually get it this time. Stay safe, you in the path of the storm!
10:16 am on January 20th, 2016
Good morning. The ‘rents are supposed to travel this weekend. Figures, after a mild winter so far, this is the weekend we get a bad snowstorm.
10:16 am on January 20th, 2016
Snow? SNOW?!??!?!??!!? I’ve already decided I don’t like winter anymore.
10:23 am on January 20th, 2016
Howlers, Are they going to see Pop’s brother? What is happening with the mortgage snafoo?
11:06 am on January 20th, 2016
Rio: Spoiler Alert!
Masquers: I agree that a description of the fate of the Sea of Flames would have made a good ending.
I also agree with a New York Times review of the novel from May of 2014. (It’s titled “Darkness Visible” which I think is interesting.) The reviewer wrote that Doerr can write beautifully “when he takes the trouble” but that many characters and situations were not developed.
I’m meeting my friend (the one who did not like the novel and who is also a retired literature professor) next week. I think our discussion will be fun.
12:40 pm on January 20th, 2016
BML, they are traveling to S.C. They were going to leave a day early to see Pop’s brother, but now they do not want to travel in a snowstorm. Also, that brother may be transferred closer to here. If so, Pop will visit with him tomorrow evening. So much going on, we are afraid the ‘rents are losing it.
1:32 pm on January 20th, 2016
Our thoughts are with your folks, Howlers.
1:34 pm on January 20th, 2016
A tad bit of ice on the roads. Instead of salting or plowing here, the sheriff or police just shut the roads down.Mom went to the market early this a.m. not for bread, milk and beer, Wed is Senior discount day. She got there and got home with no issues.
1:43 pm on January 20th, 2016
Howlers, when your folks go to SC, we hope they will be safe. And know we will keep the Pop’s brother in our pawrayers along with Tupper and her bubble and all the rest.
Hey Tenzing, we like your rechnique with the v e t .
2:39 pm on January 20th, 2016
B: We would love to hear your professor friend’s reasons for disliking it so much..
Howlers: Good to hear your pop’s brother will be moved closer to you. Safe travels this weekend!
HOH: Not a good time to have a steep driveway!
Royals and all youse in the path of the storm, hunker down and batten the hatches.
2:55 pm on January 20th, 2016
Royals, we think that storm is going to hit the coast. You should be okay, don’t you think?
3:34 pm on January 20th, 2016
Yup. The Eastern PA weather authority has gone into storm mode. I guess the bad weather is official.
3:36 pm on January 20th, 2016
Masquers, don’t we know that, hence the Scooter-roo with its all wheel drive and low gear 🙂
3:46 pm on January 20th, 2016
Howlers: Not according to their trusty local weatherman. snicker.
3:47 pm on January 20th, 2016
Luke, she is your aunt!
3:50 pm on January 20th, 2016
Luke, she is your aunt!

Hey, what do you want, the HOH mom tols me how to post.
3:54 pm on January 20th, 2016
DDD. Very funny. The best part is the little electrical cord leading to her. snicker
4:31 pm on January 20th, 2016
Somehow the force has to be with you.
4:34 pm on January 20th, 2016
Yes it does!
Here is a picture of our house surrounded by the frosty trees.

4:34 pm on January 20th, 2016
Guess what, Guys? Mom ordered us a St. Joseph statue! Aiken, here we come!
4:35 pm on January 20th, 2016
Your house is beautiful, Staff.
4:36 pm on January 20th, 2016
I think that statue will help a lot O’Howlers…
The woods on the north side of the house.
4:38 pm on January 20th, 2016
O”Howlers. Thanks!
That fancy window facing you is my quilt room south window! the light is great but sometimes too much.
4:46 pm on January 20th, 2016
Mom loves that window! She is a sunlight-aholic.
4:50 pm on January 20th, 2016
Howlers: It worked for BML!
Yes, Staff, beautiful house and property.
4:51 pm on January 20th, 2016
DDD: The Force is With Us!
5:59 pm on January 20th, 2016
Masquers, It worked, but not right away. Mine was on the market over 2 1/2 years, and 1 year after the statue was buried. However, Howlers are in a much more desirable area than I was.
Staff, I love your house and yard.
6:11 pm on January 20th, 2016
Staff, we love your pretty house and the lovely window. We showed it to the DDD and he did a double take. Except for the snow, he liked it. (Says he moved to CA from South Bend because he got tired of shoveling “partly cloudy”.)
Howlers, we know your move will be successful.
7:36 pm on January 20th, 2016
Hey everyone. Back home from the funeral road trip. It was 2 hours and 45 minutes each way.
But Gramp got to see his old friend. The man has Alzheiemers, but knew Gramp right away. He knew me too after a couple of minutes. We got reacquainted with his 6 sons and had a nice visit
The oldest son (in his 60’s) is the one who lives in Minnesota and runs dogs. He has cut down to just enough dogs for a team – he runs Siberians! Knows he ain’t gonna win, but says he has a lot of fun.
And he remembers meeting AJ some years ago. This man started his Sibes from the Howling Dog Kennel up in Alaska. When he went up there, he went to Willow with his mentor and met many of the local mushers. He didn’t specifically remember AJ, but he did absolutely remember the name of Snowhook Kennel.
As far as the snowstorm – we’ll believe it when we see it. It is supposed to be bad on the coast, and further south, but we may just get brushed by the tail of it.
And Tupper is doing better and better.
7:58 pm on January 20th, 2016
Test…
8:14 pm on January 20th, 2016
Well, we are battening down the proverbial hatches here in Chevy Chsse, as they are predicting a blizzard of historic proportions, somewhere between 16 to 30 inches of snow. DC will probably be shut down for a number of days, and the weather people here are going crazy with glee. Not us ordinary folk though.
8:21 pm on January 20th, 2016
Wookie’s and Teddy’s Dad. I hope you have lots of water. If you have a spare bath that tub is there for storage. LOL. Is Debbie making hotel reservations this time? I thought it was so brilliant the last time she did that.
8:42 pm on January 20th, 2016
Rio, I think I missed American Idol last week. I remembered to put it on tonight but they’re doing stupid stuff so I’m going to read with it on in the background.
8:51 pm on January 20th, 2016
We Here are Waiting with Baity Breath for News from Rio’s Friend.
8:52 pm on January 20th, 2016
Wookie and Teddy’s Dad, as a Buffalo girl I’m used to big snow storms. I had a house before I moved to the ski slopes where snow is always welcomed. My house had three essentials: automatic electric natural gas generator, a tankless water heater, and a gas fireplace. If you don’t have these, then the hotel idea is good.
8:59 pm on January 20th, 2016
News!…It is NOT good news…sniff!…My friend will not be outsourced…grump!…No she will have to endure the sadness and madness, distress of the 50% of the IT dept. that will be eventually let-go….grumble!
8:59 pm on January 20th, 2016
Mood!…Someone here is in a very bad mood that could rival a Bellie Starr’s bad mood…sniff!
9:00 pm on January 20th, 2016
Idol!…We are going to watch Idol and forget the long dreary day ever happened…snuffle!
9:02 pm on January 20th, 2016
Carpola, Rio: Big bummer for your friend, sigh!
9:17 pm on January 20th, 2016
Well, on the good side, she is still employed. That is good, right?
Saying good night, all.
9:21 pm on January 20th, 2016
Dawson!…She feels like a jerk for being upset that her job is still her job…sniff!
9:23 pm on January 20th, 2016
Barb!…You have no idea how miserable she is. The work is not so bad but the people she has to deal with day in and day out in close uncomfortable quarters is the misery…guh!
9:24 pm on January 20th, 2016
Staff!…Your house is a beauty!…snort!…Beau loves the big Cross in your window…snorkel!…Now he wants one…heh!
9:46 pm on January 20th, 2016
Thinking of Rio’s friend. Sorry the outcome wasn’t what was desired.
Staff’s house is beautiful.
9:52 pm on January 20th, 2016
Linda!…Someone here is trying to rationalize this unexpected turn of events as a sign there is a good reason she is meant to keep on keeping on…snort!…It’s easy to give up. It’s harder to Plunder On. And that is our motto, right?….wheeze!
9:53 pm on January 20th, 2016
Plus!..It is easier to get another job within the company if you are already working there…heh!heh!…She has her feelers out let me tell youse!…snorkel!
9:59 pm on January 20th, 2016
MPop and Loulou’s mom. We do have the natural gas powered generator, which is probably the most important of the three. This is really not a hotel situation, since Teddy loves the snow and my dad is safe in assisted living facility nearby. We will just tough it out; Debbie has lots of good things in the freezer
10:14 pm on January 20th, 2016
WookiesPaW!…And all those in the path of the big storm, we here are thinking of youse and ole Beau is praying you will all be safe, sound and have plenty of heat and food…snorkel!
10:33 pm on January 20th, 2016
Speaking of houses, Mr.Staff has lived on this farm since he was 4 years old.
And I am quilting blocks of houses and listening to Ann Mayo Muir, Gordon Bok and Ed Trickett. Music from my youth.

Rio, please let your friend know we will keep her in positive thoughts. Having plans not work out can be awful. She has many friends and support on this here blog.
Nighty night.
10:55 pm on January 20th, 2016
Plans!…Well her plan was to stick it out till the transition was over, take the grand severance package and travel around seeing friends….sniff!…Now it seems she is stuck at her stinking uncomfortable lodgings with really nasty people doing the same thing damned thing while other very wonderful people deal with another unfortunate, unwanted future….sob!sob!sob!
10:58 pm on January 20th, 2016
Heart!…My friend’s heart hurts tonight for the 50 percent who are losing out…sniffle!sob!Sob!
