Bullies and Us
Bernie says maybe we’ll go to North Korea for our next case. “Bullies feed on fear,” he says. I prefer kibble as my regular meal.

Good morning all. We may be first today. Yay!
So what does everyone think about Sony pulling the North Korea movie? Not sure the subject was too funny anyway, but should they have scraped the film because of bullying?

Good morning, B&M&L and everyone! We’ve been holding mom under the quilt for a couple of days. She smells better today so we will let her up for a bit.
Rio’s friend, your cookies arrived safely, and the DDD informed mom they are delish! He wouldn’t share with us, us, us, but we made him leave some for mom.
Linda, the mail lady honked and left a box of pretzles here yesterday and then gave mom’s mail to the neighbors. We thought that was funny since that guy is afraid of us and always says, “Nice doggies”, in an unconvincing tone. The ipad was put up so we have lots of catch up to do.
Hey, it is Friday and there is almost a Chetspeak! We know today will be fantastic 🙂
8:43 am on December 19th, 2014
T & G, Make sure you go back and see our comment from early this morning about Broadchurch. .
Busy day here. Shopping, final wrapping, cleaning, and then making some salads for dinner tomorrow at Josh and Jess’s. Doing the jello mold my mom made for years. Fresh ground apples and cranberries added to raspberry jello. You can add nuts an oranges, but I like it the way mom made it 50 years ago. Tradition, you know.
Tomorrow morning will put together the lettuce salad which will be dressed with MPM’s Poppy seed dressing. Mixed greens will be topped with red onion, diced apple, dried cranberries, pecans, cubes of Swiss cheese and croutons.
9:12 am on December 19th, 2014
Happy the pretzels arrived, HOH!
B,M & L: Your shipment is the only one still MIA. And we live the closest to each other! Good grief.
Yum to the salads.
Good morning all.
9:24 am on December 19th, 2014
B & B, I posted last night that the pretzels were here when I arrived home from work. Sorry you missed it, but thank you again. I have already had some and they are yummy. I shared a few bites with Maggie and Lucy who think we are supposed to share all snacks, but I was stingy. The coffee looks good too, and I will try that this afternoon. Also, the package arrived in perfect condition.
Now, off to the store. BBL
9:26 am on December 19th, 2014
Don’t go to North Korea Chet. (And no, I don’t think they should have cancelled the movie.)
Good morning all.

Dawson: In case you still haven’t figured out your Mont Blanc pen: Hold the top with one hand and the bottom with the other and turn the top to the right. The ball point comes out the bottom portion. You can get refills from Amazon.
Rio: I plan to watch Ascension today.
I’m trying to remember the end of Broadchurch. It seems to me that the perp was different in Gracepoint.
9:47 am on December 19th, 2014
What do they do with a film if there are no theaters that will show it? I’m Sure it’s for safety and insurance reasons. Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV have said no also. Maybe Netflix will pick it up.
9:50 am on December 19th, 2014
And now for something completely different:

9:55 am on December 19th, 2014
Good morning!!! We just watched Staff’s hypnosis film from last night. We KNEW T.C. was up to no good, dammit!!!
As for The Interview: we are surprised that all those theater chains fell for that stupid amateurish hack. But what else could Sony do if no theaters were going to show it? Sounded like a lame movie, and done in bad taste in our opinion. And if you put the bootie on the other paw, and North Korea made a film about killing our president (whichever party was currently in the White House), and named him in fact, and then in fact murdered him by the end of the film, what exactly do you think we would do??? huh???
9:59 am on December 19th, 2014
Oh!!! We love Loca’s video. Thanks for finding it, Martha, and thanks for posting it, T&G. You see? That film was wise enough to change the names to protect the pugster! Heh!
10:24 am on December 19th, 2014
I checked it out and the perp is different in Gracepoint contrasted to Broadchurch.
10:31 am on December 19th, 2014
We just don’t get it how the same story told in Engkand and here can have a different ending. Can’t you imagine the author just pulling their hair out in frustration. Hours and hours of planning and organizing thoughts and plotting it out, only to have a screenwriter go “nahhhh, we’ll do it THIS way”.
Gah!
10:44 am on December 19th, 2014
It is ROFL around here about Loca 🙂
We liked this too:

10:44 am on December 19th, 2014
Howlers, you make some very good points. I would not have seen the film, and will not order it when it goes to dvd (which they are saying it will do).
Another thing which I think is in really bad taste. Has anyone seen the commercials for Halo fruit? I am thinking specifically
of the one where the little girl leaves the severed head of her stuffed horse in her dad’s bed. (Think Godfather scene). “Kids won’t have halos when they are out of Halos”. Personally, I would be concerned about a child who was decapitating her stuffed toys, but maybe I over react to this kind of thing.
10:44 am on December 19th, 2014
Barb: Finally read the entries from last night. Usually look at those right away. This does not bode well for an organized day. Sigh.
10:48 am on December 19th, 2014
I posted on last night’s posts, actually early this a.m. about Broadchurch. I have ordered it from Netflix, and hope to have the first disc tomorrow for weekend viewing. I loved Gracepoint, so am looking forward to comparing the two. Don’t give any spoilers about the ending!
11:01 am on December 19th, 2014
Tupper and Gilly: Actually, I prefer the ending in Gracepoint.
11:03 am on December 19th, 2014
Snort

11:18 am on December 19th, 2014
Bee – we may just have to watch Gracepoint now. Hope it is on Netflix streaming
We have to say that the final scene of Broadchurch, the bonfires, just about killed us.
11:43 am on December 19th, 2014
B M & L — We find the Halo commercials so distasteful that we refuse to buy the product any more. We don’t understand why so many commercials these days have to have a mean undercurrent.
12:04 pm on December 19th, 2014
Trish’s husband has excellent taste in cars. If lived in England, I would buy British. I don’t know which football team I would cheer for.
Chet and Bernie, Stay out of North Korea or you will be breaking rocks in the cold sun there.
Here we go again: What is Halo? (Barb said fruit?)
You can tell how much tv we don’t watch.
12:13 pm on December 19th, 2014
Arrggghhh – we have an iPhone 6. so far we hate it. We keep having to power it down, and then reopen it to access internet. And every time we power down, we lose things like name tags and email tags for the blog and have to reenter them.
wondering if it is a 6 foible, or just this one phone?
Siber – Halo’s are tangerines. And their commercials make us gag too.
12:15 pm on December 19th, 2014
Oh yah – and who is that Pug behind the Foster Grants?
12:17 pm on December 19th, 2014
Chet: NO! And, if you and Bernie do go and then OFA’s new book of your Adventures in N. Korea is banned? Then what? Hmmmm?
So Cool to have a Jag, Trish!
Siber-H: We don’t know what Halos are either. ANY kind of Halo. Heh.
12:34 pm on December 19th, 2014
We don’t know what Halos are (other than what Kat is always wearing), but that commercial sounds horrible!
12:43 pm on December 19th, 2014
Mom just said she disliked those commercials too.
1:10 pm on December 19th, 2014
Speaking of deranged children, this is a sorta funny story. When Kelly was about 7 we had just moved to a 10 acre farm. We had a Springer Spaniel named Dickens who lived up to her name. To start our chicken flock, we bought a little banty hen who was sitting on a clutch of eggs. Dickens calmly watched them from the outside of their pen for a couple of weeks. On the day they hatched (major excitement by all), Dickens broke into the pen and killed every single one of them. I guess all the cheeping got to her. We all were devastated, of course.
Well Kelly went to school and drew a graphic picture of a dog with a bunch of baby chicken feet hanging out of her mouth. The teacher thought I had a seriously deranged child and called me immediately. I explained to her that unfortunately Kelly was just drawing our first chicken experience. Kelly did not turn into a psycho and our animal husbandry skills improved drastically after that.

Magpie&Lucy: OMD! What a Story.
Hounds: We Love that Picture too.
1:49 pm on December 19th, 2014
Royal Mum, your iPhone 6 should not be doing that. Call Apple 1-800-275-2273
I gave spent a lot of time on the phone with them since I got the iPhone 6 Plus and they have worked through all of my phone problems.
1:53 pm on December 19th, 2014
Just got an email from Netflix. I will have Broadchurch,
disc 1 tomorrow. Yay!
2:01 pm on December 19th, 2014
Rio! We know that’s you you you!!! Too funny!
2:24 pm on December 19th, 2014
Barb, it is great that you improved your husbandry. Mom is still trying to develop some wife-ity.
2:50 pm on December 19th, 2014
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: I think You Will really Like Broadchurch.
We sure did. In truth we have nothing to compare it with as we didn’t see Gracepoint.
The Second Season of Broadchurch will air on ITV in the U.K. on Jan. 5 and on BBC America in the U.S. on Feb. 4 and we didn’t want to spoil it.
Tupper’s Mama: Our DIL has the iPhone 6 and Loves it. She swears by everything Apple. We Here just swear.
2:51 pm on December 19th, 2014
The U.S. Version, Gracepoint, will not be renewed by Fox.
2:54 pm on December 19th, 2014
Riö: Is too you! You can’t disguise that pug mug.
2:55 pm on December 19th, 2014
besides…the snort gave you away.
3:00 pm on December 19th, 2014
I did not develop husbandry or wife-ity. I am a no-talent!
BStover: Thanks! I will do that thing.
I believe in free speech despite the idiotic things people (not you or I) say! Heh!
3:01 pm on December 19th, 2014
Barb – oh dear, that poor teacher probably had nightmares too. We are laughing at the story in a dark humor kind of way.
Howlers – we want to say we think your mom is pretty smart, especially in diplomatic terms. Our litmus test as to whether something is acceptable is to put it in reverse terms, and see if we would still think it was ok. Of course this country would fail to see so-called humor in a movie from an unfriendly country about an assassination of any of our government officials. Movie was in questionable taste at best – and no serious loss to the cinematic form of art.
We don’t care for censorship, but we question the intelligence of people who thought this movie was a good idea in the first place.
3:54 pm on December 19th, 2014
For those inquiring minds, Halos is just a brand of small mandarin oranges (kind of like tangerines or clementines).
4:18 pm on December 19th, 2014
Wookie and Teddy’s Dad – we always thought mandarin oranges and tangerines were one and the same – inquiring minds ask if this is not so.
4:20 pm on December 19th, 2014
I think it was really stupid of sony to pull it back, this will only make other hackers target big companies, expecting them to be afraid and deliver their demands.
4:34 pm on December 19th, 2014
Clementines is the word we were reaching for earlier, and couldn’t remember, so just said fruit.
Ditto to what Howlers and T & G said about the movie and censorship.
We don’t approve of the methods of North Korea, but we also don’t think the subject matter was anything to joke about.
The only thing funny about my story (in a dark way), was that the unenlightened teacher thought Kelly had some serious psychological problems with tendencies toward violence. She was in fact a big animal/nature lover from early childhood.
Who is Alkeenana?
4:38 pm on December 19th, 2014
Wookie’s and Teddy’s Dad, technically a tangerine is a mandarin but a manderin is not always a tangerine. (A T. is a type of an M. But there are many types of M’s)
Are we all now thoroughly confused?
4:46 pm on December 19th, 2014
Rio: I can’t find Ascension On Demand.
5:03 pm on December 19th, 2014
Bee – did you see all of Broadchurch? We would love to discuss it with you in your easy chsir
5:06 pm on December 19th, 2014
Clementines are a small orange that is a hybrid cross between a mandarin and a regular orange. They are sometimes marketed as Cuties. I think Halos is a brand name, not a type of citrus.
Yes, a tangerine is a type of mandarin orange, which is a large class of oranges.
5:10 pm on December 19th, 2014
HRH B, we believe that Assension was a 3 night special on SyFi. Don’t know about other showings.
5:18 pm on December 19th, 2014
I am intrigued to hear that Broadchurch and Gracepoint had different endings. With vacation starting next Wednesday I am looking forward to having some time to catch up. At our house we are only just starting to decorate. My kids cut down the tree yesterday. On Sunday we will have a big dinner and decorate the tree. Zoe will come over and join my three and SIL. Decorating close to Christmas is a tradition started when my kids were young. As soon as the tree went up, they went crazy. It only made sense.
5:39 pm on December 19th, 2014
Martha: Same here…It is a Family Tradition.
Hi, AlkeeNana!
5:40 pm on December 19th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Yes, I’ve seen all of Broadchurch.
5:47 pm on December 19th, 2014
Without giving away the ending, does anyone know which ending is closer to the original book? I am assuming there was a book first?
5:56 pm on December 19th, 2014
Broadchurch was written by Chris Chibnall and was not based on a book that I know of.
5:57 pm on December 19th, 2014
Good news: The ‘rents are Home for the Holidays!
Bad news: They are leaving us, and going off to a Christmas Party. Mom has on her red wool jacket with snowflakes edging it, and her beautiful snowflake earrings!! Now if we could just get some real snow…
6:06 pm on December 19th, 2014
We plan to start watching Broadchurch on Sunday.
We recently watched a fun comedy called Peace, Love and Misunderstanding. We live in Woodstock, IL, (Groundhog Day movie site) and Woodstock, N.Y. was featured in the film. Has anyone been there? Is it really as full of the hippie/new age culture as the movie portrayed? Jane Fonda played the far out pot smoking artist grandmother. She had pet chickens, one of which was a Mille Fleur banty hen, which was our very favorite chicken. That is Peach’s breed.
6:14 pm on December 19th, 2014
Barb, I loved Woodstock, NY, except for the creek Momma pushed me in.
There were a lot of peace signs and tie dye shops in that town, as well as some delish ice cream.
Oh no! mom is now taking away our iPaw. Later.
6:27 pm on December 19th, 2014
In the spirit of the season, we wish you all peas and good will

Lucy Lou here, addressing Corgis, (ahem, ahem) why would you do all that work for a green veggie? It is a trick! Lie down and look at your people and THEN they will put something worthwhile on the floor. Guaranteed, tried and true!

Amalia. Where did you get those shiny rhinestone collars that the Royals are wearing? We need to get some of those, although Henry wants a studded collar because he is very studly.
7:52 pm on December 19th, 2014
We find all our shiny DIAMOND collars on Amazon. Our Mama would never dress us in mere rhinestones. But she did get a great deal on these.
CubKat got one too, only his is a red patent leather bow tie. He thinks he looks like James Bond.
8:03 pm on December 19th, 2014
Rio, please tell your friend that when mom passed out cookies for dessert tonight, the second one the DDD grabbed was two stuck together. He said, “Oh darn, looks like I’ll have to take it since I touched it”. Such a gentleman!

Rio, this person didn’t talk like the spammers do. Also Bear welcomed like this was his nana. Maybe we had a new person, like some of us welcome (meaning you), ha ha. So I clicked on the link and saw bombs going off. Whoa!

So MPM, you clicked on her link? What happened next? We wondered who she was.

MPM: What a brave-heart you are! It’s almost like being a bomb detention expert.
10:30 pm on December 19th, 2014

Saying goodnight.

She says there is one last trip to the grocery store and then the liquor store…snort!…And then there is last present wrapping to do, and those damned cookies to make (maybe – cuz they may become New Years Cookies)…sniff!…Then the added stress of not knowing if she is cooking Christmas Eve afternoon dinner or Christmas Day dinner….grump!…Some relatives will not come forth and say when they can make it one way or the other…gurgle!…Her mother is making the prime rib roast (hopefully not in a bag) and then she is doing all the other stuff…wheeze!…I just want to watch the Christmas dvds…sniffle!

Yeep and Yip.
There was quite a flurry at Bootie headquarters and when the snow settled we had a winner of the Raven keychain and a definite lowering of the matching funds!
Then another donation to be matched came in so we are at 1195 total bootie bucks AND we still have 55.00 bootie bucks that are available to match.
If we match those we only would have about 200 dollars left to our goal! I am psyched!
The next prize available is…TAAA DAAA!
.JPG)
This is another keychain from the marvelous mother of the Royals. It looks to me like it is silver with enamel. The design is pine trees at night with a moon and stars in the sky.
Very nice.
And some lucky person will win it before the 55.00 in matching funds is depleted.
The current matcher has requested not to win (again) so if the magic number is hit by the matcher then the donor of the non matching funds, AKA the matchee, will win the keychain.
I certainly hope youse guys can figure that out because I got all confused with the matcher and the matchee.
Go SNowHook
I know Rebecca would love to buy all those thousands of booties before the big rush near the big race!

Staff!…You had a big load of Booties to haul-in and it looks like you are very close to meeting your lofty goal!…WOOOOOO!…Once the Bootie Fund is a-foot then we really need to think about and ponder the A-Team sponsor-ships…heh!…This will not happen till January though as AJ needs time access the team and maybe drop a few names of A-Team members here so we can seriously start thinking about those Food and Supply Drop-Bags needed along the trail…yeeep!…So much to do – so much still needed…gasp!
10:45 pm on December 19th, 2014
Rio, I thought when we sponsored a checkpoint we sponsored the drop bags! That should be already done by the plucky Plunderers. So you can cross that off your TODO list. You have too much on your mind Mr.Pugness.
10:48 pm on December 19th, 2014
Staff!…YOU ARE RIGHT!…heh!heh!…So really, we need to “only” think about the A-Team sponsor-ships, and how to Feed The Giant….snorkel!…I am so relieved now…wheeze!
10:56 pm on December 19th, 2014
Mandarin Oranges.
For the last few years the fancy grocery store here has had Sumo Mandarin Oranges for sale in the middle of the winter. They are huge juicy oranges with thick heavy skin that pulls off easily. They are so juicy and sweet that Staff cannot resist them. They are not those tiny little wimpy Cuties. No they are not!
The ones I love are as big as the largest orange and funny looking. But YUMMY!
10:58 pm on December 19th, 2014
Halos!…Now, that photo Staff just posted in miniture form is what my friend takes for breakfast every morning…snort!..They are small and have that knob on the top. She says they are not as sweet as Cuties, meaning Me and Beau…heh!heh!

Rio, These are BIG!
11:11 pm on December 19th, 2014
Do youse guys remember when A Catty Librarian won a prize on Facebookie for telling someone about Chet and Bernie. She wrote this to me recently about the lady she had mentioned them to.
“In related news, our outreach librarian thanked me today for telling her about Chet & Bernie books. The folks she delivers to love them, and she’ll now be ordering more of the Large Print editions.”
Now that is a review I like!
Nighty noodle all!

Our Lady peels and freezes almost a hundred clemetines for the Giant each race. He sends them out in his drop bags and carries them in his pockets. There have been a couple of times when the clementines in his pockets are all he has because the drop bag containing his people food was lost.
Doc is prancing around in a bow-tie. You would think Belle Starr or possible our Lady was responsible for this fashion statement, but no, it was the Giant. He must have received direction from Wookie on the Other Side of the Bridge.

Rio, You can have your friend use her micro-planer and remove off the orange zest before she eats them. Then she can dry it on a paper towel and put it in her molasses cookies. I bet it would be a good addition to the recipe. She can get a LOT of zest out of one of those oranges.

Rio: This may come as a surprise, but we’re not the type to pray and tell. However, the loss of Giant food is at no fault of his own. We think the ton of Twix he received in the mail today will not get lost, at least not the one, make that two he taste tested on the way home.
