From our house to the Hospital/surgeon/oncologist’s there are 5 routes. DDD always takes the one that has a 350 yard tunnel 🙁 Then wonders why mom’s BP is elevated. Go figure! (Gotta love Whittier) I”d be glad to fly or boat to there!

Good afternoon all. Macy is doing much better, but is now hooked on can food. New bad news, our girl Niki is too sick to drive up today, but will come up tomorrow no matter what. If there is anything worse than driving 3 hours while sick, I do not want to think about it.
Angie took me shopping today. For the first time in my life, I have a complete new outfit from the fresh pedicure and new shoes to the necklaces and earrings and new purse. It feels decadent but I spent less than some people spend on a single shirt, so I guess it is not that bad. Thanks to some Very Special People for making it happen.

Barb cam home to some good news from T & G and Macy’s mom.
Hectic day today. Barb was supposed to be home at 4:30 and didn’t get home till 5:45. We had our legs and paws crossed waiting for her .
We discovered that a irresponsible neighbor’s cat is pooping in our veggie garden. We have read conflicting info on this. Any opinions? Evidently you have to have dogs on a leash but cats can run free. Is that fair?

We are more concerned about the possible germs or contamination from the visiting kitty. I know you are not supposed to use dog or cat poop in your compost, so what is the fresh stuff going to do to our edibles? Seems like it is probably ok, but we are a little concerned.

Barb, Where I live, kats are suppose to be kept on their own property just as dogs are. It is illegal for people to let their kat roam around, but people do it all the time.
Here we can set a humane trap for a kat, and animal control will come pick up the kat and trap. The owner can bail the kat out of the pound if they wish.

Siber, We would like to do that, but are afraid the neighbors might get even with us if they found out it was us that humanely trapped their cat. We share a back yard fence, so it would be easy to throw something unsavory over the fence.

Thank you all for you validation of my wild day. I decided that if I have to enter the church as “The Widow Nash” I wanted to look as good as I can with what I have to work with. The heels are a little higher than I usually wear, but if I trip, everyone can just attribute my fall to grief. I suggested to Angie that I be carried in by the elbows by two nice looking firefighters, heh.

Rick Nash Obituary
Rick G. Nash passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bedford Fire Department. Rick was born Oct. 25, 1952, in Fort Worth to Bob and Wanda Ward Nash. He began his career in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 15. Upon graduating from L.D. Bell High School in 1971, he enrolled at TCJC and graduated with an associate’s degree in fire science. It was there where he met Mary Lou Mason and they were married Jan. 10, 1976. Rick was the epitome of a loving father, husband, all-around family man and community servant. He was the third paid member of the Bedford Fire Department, and he retired after 36 years of service there. Most recently, Rick enjoyed working at Donna Park Elementary as well as owning Rick’s Knife Shop, an online retail store. Rick was a longtime member of Martin United Methodist Church where for years he manned the barbecue smoker at the Lord’s Acre Fall Festival and was a member of The Journey Class. Rick served as a mentor to the Boy Scouts, helping them earn their fire-related badges and was one of the founding members of the Citizens Fire Academy and CERT. He participated in Amateur Radio (W5AWQ) and Santa USA, and was active in local political campaigns. He loved his furry companions, Annie, Macy, Holly, Biddy and especially his best buddy, Belle, who lived for rides in “their” beloved truck. Rick also enjoyed classic movies and TV and collecting and playing ukuleles and trumpets. Survivors: His loving wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Niki Nash of Austin and Angie Nash of Hurst; father, Bob Nash of Keller; brothers, Randy Nash of Fort Worth and Tim Nash of Euless; sisters, Connie Fleming of Keller and Kelly Maddox of Arlington; and mother-in-law, Mary Mason of Hurst.

Good news today.
The Storyteller & Rebecca made it home, MacyMinPin feels better, Macy’s Mom took a well deserved half a day for herself, HOH posted some good music and Rio’s friend doesn’t have to go to work tomorrow!
Barb&Maggie: The law here says that cats must stay in their own yard or be on a leash. Not that anyone pays it any mind but you could trap a cat and, like SiberH says, they would have to pay to get it back. If it happens again the fine gets higher and higher. More and more municipalities are passing these laws. Cat poop is not good in gardens. There are possible health concerns.

Barb – we had a problem with deer and rabbits in our garden last year. Gramp went to Tractor Supply and got some stuff that either is, or is made to smell like coyote pee. It sure worked on the deer – we bet most kats would be a little leary about it too.
Yes, the Storyteller is home. All tucked in after his first edible dinner in a while. Gilly is in her glory, curled up next to him. She says only he scritches her ears just right.
ML – good for you. There will be loving eyes looking down at you on Saturday, and we are sure that he will be pleased that you look so beautiful.

Hello. I am just taking a quick timeout from sickbed duty. Mommy is still not feeling too good, so it is my job to keep her warm and cozy.
Barb, cats are not dogs. Pure and simple. We are not made to be leashed, and nobody is going to “train” us to stay in a yard. As if. Me? I stay indoors because that is my choice, given my early finding my none too gentle Sasha, who broke my leg when I was but a wee little thing.
But most cats do prefer the great outdoors. We do not do damage to things the way canines do. As for gardens, there is special stuff you can find at a pet store that deters us from wanting to “go” in a garden. Other than that, you should just relax and enjoy our cuteness.
