Buckaroos
Bakersfield comes up from time to time. There’s something called the Bakersfield sound. I think Bernie likes it and we listen sometimes when we’re in the Porsche. This isn’t one of those shiny new Porsches, in case I haven’t mentioned that already. The bumper sticker on the back is from Max’s Memphis Ribs, a joint I haven’t been to in way too long. But the point is the Bakersfield sound. There’s Buck Owens, for example – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Ygm9bvjUE&feature=related. And Merle Haggard, one of Bernie’s all-time favorites – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffHcGlF0xDw. But what never gets talked about, and I only know because late that night when Bernie and Colonel Bob were talking and drinking a glass or two – or maybe more, but two is my limit for numbers – of bourbon, Bernie mentioned his dad. That never happens! But I was so sleepy. Something about how his dad went off to Bakersfield in the early days, played rhythm guitar in a band at the Blackboard with Bill Woods on piano and Buck Owens on lead. Then it all went bad. Was it because of … ? Nope. Can’t quite remember, although it’s very close, feels like it’s just around the corner. Does that ever happen to you?

Quite possible Bernie. I'm going Yankees vs. Phillies again. (I'm a Yankee fan…)

Bernie's love of music is genetic then. Chet, what did Col. Bob say happened after he saw his twenty-five-year-old look-alike in Bakersfield?

I don't do ball. Baseball, football, basketball… Well okay, I like Little League, in passing, with a hot dog or an ice cream cone. And I do sorta like basketball. But really I'm more of a music person. First link is cool– kind of a missing link of song, for me. Gives me a previously unknown etymology of sound, makes me think. Like, where the Beatles were coming _from_, not just where they took it. Second link is too country/western for me… I'm more of a bluesy chick, myself.
Wojo does ball. Baseball, football, basketball– if he can't grab it, he plays a cross between soccer and keep-away until he can puncture it and get his jaw around it.
Congo will run after a ball and will run off with it if it means he can be chased, though in general he prefers to bark and play tug-o-war.

A different subject – does everyone know about Click To Give @ The Animal Rescue Site? It's easy. It's free. And it helps all kinds of rescues. Just a thought.
Rio – you softie. You wished us a wonderful re-birth. Mom suspected your snort was worse than your wheeze. Confession: all that talk about Princess yesterday…Bluecat is my pen name. The name I came to my forever family with is…Princess. They didn't change it 'cause when they call for me, I run to find them. Have a good week everybody, especially you, Chet.

Bernie!… You are so going to regret those picks!… snort!… Chet’s got me so tangled up in old timers that I need more time than I have right now to figure it all out…grump!… Gotta be somewhere again….rats!

Gobsmacked!
Chet! Bernie's talking about his dad? Listen very closely.

Gobsmacked again! A feline princess. Dare we hope?

Great music links Chet! Merle Haggard is one of mom's favorites. We ended up watching more videos on that page. There is one of Marty Robbins and Merle Haggard. Marty Robbins grew up in the same area of Arizona where Chet and Bernie live. Marty Robbin's songs about the west are one of our very favorites.
Chet, We are counting on you to pay attention. Sometimes when Chet starts getting so sleepy, I start getting sooo sleepy. I think it is contagious. We can't blame Chet. It's a dog thing.
Bluecat: We did mention the animalrescuesite here quite awhile back. Reminders are always good. They need all the clicks they can get. I go there before I do anything else on the computer so I don't forget.

Wow! Chet is mentioning Bernie's dad. Very unusual. Chet, pay attention now in case something about Col Bob and Bernie's past comes up. Has Bernie taken you back for any of those ribs yet?

Can't wait to hear about Bernie's dad. What went wrong? Is he still alive? Why doesn't Bernie talk about him?
I wonder if Chet can drink caffeine?
Bernie's picks are interesting. The Pack and two sons are hoping for the Red Sox to be one of the two. Both struggling actor (NYC) and artist (NJ) are very brave.
They wear their Red Sox hats out in the open!

I'm a Rockies fan. I think, Rio, that we are going to be out numbered on this blog by fans of baseball teams back East.

Ohhh Rio, you are such a dreamer.
Yankee's/Phillies just like last year.
Brad Lynch can't be as terrible as he was last year and now they have Roy Holliday too.
Anyway that is what my source says. I said how about the Twins and he said. "Ahhhhhhhhhh" And that was all.
However, it is the start of the season and we can all hope can't we?

Luckily we remembered the 2 hour "24" tonight and our response is the same as Rio's. At least Dana should loose her agreement with the President since they didn't find Hussan alive. Didn't like her from the beginning!! And we can't believe the terrorists would just turn over the bomb…no, no, no! Bet it was a fake and they still have it somewhere else. It's worth too much money!!!! Wonder where it will go from here…
We like baseball, but are not fanatics about it. Guess everyone would laught their butts off if we said 'Go, Astros!!"
