Good morning everyone. Mama says she is not reading any article that will make her cry. So, to distract her, we are climbing the Christmas tree. Just trying to do our part.
9:34 am on December 6th, 2012
Good morning all.
9:43 am on December 6th, 2012
Doom!…I’m not reading it either…grump!…Whats with all the doom and gloom this month of Christmas…snort!…I’m outta here – for a while anyways…sniff!
10:01 am on December 6th, 2012
Hard to read – yes we read it – but good to know there is at least a glimmer of hope for the strays.
The new Hobbit movie is about to be released. We saw an article that said, although no animals were killed in the making of the movie, 27 animals died at the location where they were kept during filming. There were 3 horses that died and several more injured. Also several sheep, goats and fowl died.
I know Rio, more gloom and doom.
10:09 am on December 6th, 2012
MagPie, then that oes it for us. We will not see that movie. They don’t deserve to get our money.
10:12 am on December 6th, 2012
I read the article. This horrible practice of dumping dogs in cities also happens to a lesser degree in NM. People in rural areas will bring a dog or dogs they want to get rid of and dump them in the cities.
Enough doom and gloom.
Good Morning All
10:17 am on December 6th, 2012
Huh, Where I come from they dump us in the country. That is how Staff found me. I am sure glad she did. I still have problems from starving for 3 months. But I have it good now!
10:22 am on December 6th, 2012
HerbKats: Your “entertainment” will get Mama’s mind off things very quickly.
Rio: Staff’s link last night didn’t work for us either. If you go to YouTube and type in the header it will come up for you.
Barb&Magpie: We understand The Hobbit will be made into a movie trilogy. Do you know if this is true?
Off to find some Pawsitive news.
Have a Good Day All.
10:40 am on December 6th, 2012
Rose: December 19th is marked on our calendar. The Smoochers will be there. You can count on us.
B: We thought of 2 more words often used incorrectly: “a” and “an”. Have these been mentioned before?
Alice: Thank Kat Staff found you! (and is now at your beck and call. Heh.)
10:42 am on December 6th, 2012
Good morning, that is a sad article. Around here, stray cats are dumped in the country and sometimes in city parks. We don’t hear much about dumping of members of The Nation Within.
We can’t wait to see The Hobbit! And, yes, it will be released in 3 parts. It is made bythe same people who made LOTR. Maggie, did the article about this movie say how animals died? Could have been all natural causes?
10:42 am on December 6th, 2012
Bear, I think you are right about the trilogy. Hopefully they have corrected the problems. Evidently there were cliffs, sink holes and other problems that caused the animals to die or be injured. Dogs killed some of the ducks and chickens.
10:44 am on December 6th, 2012
Alice, The people that bring the dogs into the cities think they are giving them a better chance to get picked up by animal control and then get adopted. The tell themselves this, and it makes them feel better about their evil deed.
10:47 am on December 6th, 2012
My life has been a good one. Others of my kind have not been so fortunate.
Now it’s off to the salt mines. Wait a minute…that’s not for moi. Ah, yes…time for my morning nap.
10:52 am on December 6th, 2012
Masquers, I am forever grateful to the Smoochers! Knowing you are there during the lightning bolts is very calming, and the Smoochers give wonderful loving care afterwards.
I can never repay you…..
10:53 am on December 6th, 2012
Masquers, our avatars are together again!
10:54 am on December 6th, 2012
Good Morning Plunderers, please check Dishlickers mail.
Busy day. I’ve lost the car keys.
11:35 am on December 6th, 2012
Masquers: “An” is used when the word following begins with a vowel or vowel sound: An army of squirrels is eating the sunflower seeds that I put out for the birds.
11:45 am on December 6th, 2012
I read it, Melanie. Love to you, Zoe, and the Newfs.
We could have a special prayer on Dec. 23.
11:50 am on December 6th, 2012
A special prayer would be wonderful, Siber-H.
I have found the car keys!
11:55 am on December 6th, 2012
Thinking of you and Zoe Melanie.
11:56 am on December 6th, 2012
Mama is dashing out the door on her way to the show in Boston. But she said that she was dropping off a couple of packages at the post office that will be winging there way to the northwest.
Melanie – have you picked up any Newfs and shaken them to see if you can hear the jingle of keys??
12:18 pm on December 6th, 2012
Wose: our calendar is marked for the 19th.
Melanie: what a wonderful picture of Dan the man. A special prayer would be a great way to honor him.
More to Melanie: I checked with both Pancho and Lefty and told them to make with the keys. I am convinced they don’t have the keys, but I’m certain they had a paw in the keys’ disappearance.
12:39 pm on December 6th, 2012
Melanie, Mom is really glad you found the car keys because she has been there and done that…my truck, no less.
12:46 pm on December 6th, 2012
We watched Rudolph the other night. Can anyone name the types of dogs in Yukon Cornelius’ sled team? Mom couldn’t believe that she had never noticed this before.
1:08 pm on December 6th, 2012
Luna, I am grateful to you and the rest of the Smoochers.
1:17 pm on December 6th, 2012
We searched everywhere. I then called around to see how much it would be to have to have completely new ones made. Well, Honda has that pretty well covered. No one can make their keys but themselves! STICKER SHOCK
That’s when I really started looking for them. Tell Pancho and Lefty thanks for putting them where I had already searched.
1:21 pm on December 6th, 2012
B: I knew the answer this time. Yay!
Rose: There is no need for repayment among friends, only the circle of love given and received.
Melanie: Happy to hear you found the keys to the Element. Not something you want to lose.
Siber’s idea is a good one.
1:30 pm on December 6th, 2012
Note to self:
Ros LIKES hot coco.
KEEP the cup up HIGH.
Jeeze
1:46 pm on December 6th, 2012
Macy:It looks like Yukon Cornelius got the variety pack for his team.
1:46 pm on December 6th, 2012
Melanie: Strange it is to find lost items in the Very place one has looked before. Our theory is they go someplace else and then return at a later time. (Or…a more likely scenario…Pancho & Lefty were persuaded to return the keys at just that particular time)
Hot coco! Sounding Good right about Now.
1:50 pm on December 6th, 2012
Masquers: Did you like the movie Hugo?
2:15 pm on December 6th, 2012
BSD: We have no idea of which you speak. (Tail wag to B)
2:34 pm on December 6th, 2012
Dan!…I love that photo of Dan The Man!…snort!…Was that taken during the Love of Puppies era?…heh!…Looks like someone nailed him on the knee with some piddle!…chorkel!
Melanie! and Zoe!…I will be there in spirit with youse guys…snuffle!
2:56 pm on December 6th, 2012
Rio: Given that Dan is surrounded by Newfs, it could be drool.
3:22 pm on December 6th, 2012
Drool!…gah!…gurgle!
3:24 pm on December 6th, 2012
Sneeze!…I fell off the bed last night…grunt!
3:27 pm on December 6th, 2012
Fell!…Boy did he ever!…heh!heh!…He woke everybody up when he hit the floor…snort!…The whole house shook. My theory is he was rolling over on his back so he could stick his paws straight up in the air and wham!…chorkel!
3:36 pm on December 6th, 2012
B: Hugo was much better than expected. We give it a 5 (the top rating for anything that makes us teary) sniff.
Beau: Hmm…and who’s bed would that be?
3:44 pm on December 6th, 2012
Beau: It has been known to happen to the best of us.
3:47 pm on December 6th, 2012
Beau, I hope you didn’t hurt yourself. That is how the Prof fractured his wrist.
3:57 pm on December 6th, 2012
Riö, It is best not to try to figure out stains and water marks here at The Pack’s house.
4:42 pm on December 6th, 2012
Bed!…Beau thought he had snuck up on the big bed with no one knowing but we all knew after he fell off…heh!heh!
5:05 pm on December 6th, 2012
Am I the only one that thinks we should spring for a GPS tracker for Dawson? She is always on the move. Safe travels my Awesome friend.
5:16 pm on December 6th, 2012
Wose, Does the prof always sleep on his back with his paws stuck straight up in the air, like Beau? Dima does that sometimes too.
5:18 pm on December 6th, 2012
Tenzing: We could, at least, track her flight if we had the info.
5:19 pm on December 6th, 2012
Dear Friends Basil and Sage,
Since misery loves company, thank you for commiserating with us, and especially for sharing those yummies with us. We are rubbing it into the Howlers that Mom says we rule, but they aren’t buying it. They keep pointing to that Sibaru and singing na na na na na.
5:20 pm on December 6th, 2012
Howlers: Smiling at a sudden mental picture of the Prof sleeping, like Beau, with his paws up in the air.
5:23 pm on December 6th, 2012
Buddy&T.C.: Did you remind them it was the kat that got the parking space?
5:44 pm on December 6th, 2012
Its official – Mama really and truly doesn’t like Boston. Remember the old joke about the farmer who told the tourist, “You ca’t get there from here.”? Well, that farmer obviously was raised in Boston – land of not only beans and cod, but also of one way streets that connect to other one way streets going the wrong way, leading to dead ends. Phooey!
But on the up side – their hotel last week was very nice, so they requested the same room for this week. It wasn’t available, so the clerk gave Mama the keys for a “similar” room. But the only similarity was that it was in the same hotel – it was small, dark, noisy, and had a big easy chair RIGHT in front of the closet! Mama went back to the front desk to say very sweetly, “I don’t think so”. So, now they are relaxing and spreading out in a full size, 3 room suite.
Dad just looks at her in amazement. She tells him to remember to be grateful that she has the instincts of a female dog.
5:58 pm on December 6th, 2012
Good one, Masquers. We will show them that video. Also make them re-watch the one we posted last night. Did you ever manage to see that?
6:16 pm on December 6th, 2012
I knew I put that picture up yesterday for a reason!
Go, pink bulldozer, go!
Thanks Buddy and T.C. I forgot to look at that video. BBL
6:24 pm on December 6th, 2012
Buddy&TC: The link didn’t work for some reason, but we found a way. Kats rule!
Royals: Said it before and will say it again. Your mama knows how to get results!
6:29 pm on December 6th, 2012
Snort! The Pack took great exception to that video. They have turned their backs to the computer and are now doing a minuet to Bach. Sigh. Such showoffs.
Car karma continues. Zoë got back from the store. She had stopped to get gas and the woman attendant asked if she was aware that the registration was out of date. FOR EIGHT MONTHS.
That was just when things started going to kitty litter box here. We don’t know if we forgot to register the Subaru, of forgot to put the stickers on the car.
Will have to find out tomorrow. Can you tell we don’t drive the Subaru much?
6:39 pm on December 6th, 2012
On occasion, the Prof does sleep on his back, paws in the air. Mostly, he sleeps with his mouth open, and snores a lot.
6:41 pm on December 6th, 2012
Minuet to Bach! Tee hee.
6:41 pm on December 6th, 2012
Way to go Amalia! If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
Today we had Jack – Jack, the two legged grand. Tomorrow we have Gus-Gus, the 4 legged grand. Gus is bigger, but way easier, according to Barb. He is coming for a weekend visit while his family goes downtown to shop and look at Christmas windows.
On the Chicago news they have been running a story about a 10 month old Bull Terrier pup who got shot twice by a Chicago cop. He was giving a parking ticket to his owners who live on the street and have been parking in that spot for 40 years. The pup ran up to the cop (wagging his tail, according to witnesses) and the cop pulled his gun and shot him. He will be OK but they said he will not be able to be in bench shows now. Evidently he was a very expensive show pup. Is that right, Melanie? Is that the end of a show career, due to scars?
6:42 pm on December 6th, 2012
Annabelle snores, too. She has also been hogging my favorite dog pillow.
7:19 pm on December 6th, 2012
Tenzing, the Prof loves hogging the blankets.
7:23 pm on December 6th, 2012
Staff!…I’m supposed to let you know that we received the little box – the same little box that my friend sent you a while back…heh!heh!…The two guys arrived safe and sound…snort!…She really really likes them a lot I guess…sniff!
7:24 pm on December 6th, 2012
Wose: He must be part sled dog, or maybe Annabelle has professor in her genes.
7:32 pm on December 6th, 2012
Tenzing, you are funny! I guess we can put the Prof to the test in February.
7:36 pm on December 6th, 2012
Barb and MagPie, I’m glad you are able to take care of Gus. He must be lonely without his buddy.
And yes, scars are not good for show dogs. A bull terrier? And he shot him? Jeeze Louise.
7:44 pm on December 6th, 2012
Mom and Dad are home, home, home!! We are so excited but Dad doesn’t feel real tip top right now. Something about that being part of the treatment. But we are the most patient type (neither is Dad). And we want in his lap.
Mom says that all went really good, and that there should be no more hospital stays. But each of these treatments are harder to bounce back from so Dad is expected to feel pretty bad for a little while. Boy, are we glad that there won’t be any more of those treatments!!
7:46 pm on December 6th, 2012
That should have been “aren’t the most patient types.”
8:05 pm on December 6th, 2012
Puss N’ Boots!… Say ‘HI’ to your Paw for me…snort!…Very glad he is home with all of youse now…snuffle!
8:07 pm on December 6th, 2012
Football!…Finally we are able to catch a football game tonight…snort!….Beau is very excited and feeling good about the Brocos kicking the Raiders butts tonight…heh!heh!
8:08 pm on December 6th, 2012
Sneeze!….Go Broncos! Kick dem Raiders butts! …cough!sneeze!
8:12 pm on December 6th, 2012
Uh oh!…Looks like da Broncos are playing at da Raiders stadium…sniff!sneeze!…Don’t matter. Broncos will still kick dar butts…chuff-chuff!
8:17 pm on December 6th, 2012
G&B, Hope your dad feels better real soon. Glad his treatment at the hospital is over.
Yes Melanie, a scary Bull Terrier, mostly all white.
8:22 pm on December 6th, 2012
G&BB: glad your dad is home. I hope he feels much better in a few days. And no more of those treatments (yay)
Question: shouldn’t -26 feel a lot warmer than -46?
8:29 pm on December 6th, 2012
CHobbit!…Negative anything is too damn cold…grunt!shudder!…How do you Alaskians stand it?….wheeze!
8:38 pm on December 6th, 2012
Touchdown!….Woooooo!…Beau is doing his famous cartwheel…heh!
8:41 pm on December 6th, 2012
Gus&BooBear, your Dad’s lap will be available soon.
Beau, don’t forget to put the railing up on the bed tonight.
Take care everyone!
TTFN
8:51 pm on December 6th, 2012
We are checking in to say goodnight.
Gus and BooBear – All our best to your Dad – we sure hope he feels better after his ordeal.
Barb – lucky you to be puppy sitting. Gus is going to look forward to going to Grandma’s house as much as the kids do.
Beau – have you considered Velcro?
Ok – time for bed – have to be up long before the sun to go set up at the Lovesick Producers Show, Part 2.
G’night all
8:52 pm on December 6th, 2012
Gus and BooBear,
We bet your Dad is glad to be home even if he isn’t tip-top yet. Each day he will feel better.
We know how it is to miss laps. There are no decent laps here right now. We live in a house of midgets. At least Mr.Staff has legs that are long enough for a lap. But he won’t be here for several more weeks drat it all.
Staff tries but it is not the same.
Dawson should be about half way here by now. Her itinerary is:
Central Mountain Air flight # 9M 0807 Thursday, December 06th fly from Fort Nelson to Vancouver arriving at 555 pm today.
And then tomorrow:
Alaska Airlines flight # 2485 Friday, December 07th fly Bellingham to Seattle leaving at 9:30 am and arriving at 10:08
and then (I am assuming Alaska Airlines) flight #38 Dec. 07th Seattle to Minneapolis leaves at 12:55 pm and arrives at 6:12 pm
8:54 pm on December 6th, 2012
G&BB’s Dad: I spent the day at the vet yesterday, too. Care to hang out under the quilt? I can keep you company while your sweet wife and G&BB get some rest. Plus, I scored some of Tenzing’s Slim Jims when he wasn’t looking. Original or Nacho flavored?
8:55 pm on December 6th, 2012
Dawson!…Do we even know if Dawson caught that first flight?…chorkel!
8:59 pm on December 6th, 2012
Gus&BooBear: Your Dad is Home!!! And no more hospital. This is such Good news. We know he’ll be feeling tip top very very soon. Big Hugs to you all!
Barb&Magpie: We are glad the poor Bull Terrier will be okay, but that police needs to pay! What is wrong with people these days?
Signing off until tomorrow.
Nighty night – Bear
9:00 pm on December 6th, 2012
Hey! I’m missing some Slim Jims. I hope Dawson packed some snacks in her drop bags. That is quite a run/rest schedule she has planned.
9:39 pm on December 6th, 2012
Schedule!…I hope Dawson knows someone to stay with or gets a hotel room inbetween flights….snort!….The thought of her staying over-night at the airport is not a good one…grunt!
9:55 pm on December 6th, 2012
Maybe Dawson will pull her fur-ruff up and sleep in her sled bag like AJ does sometimes.
9:57 pm on December 6th, 2012
Oh poor Dawson. Her flight schedule is the cow path to the barn.
9:59 pm on December 6th, 2012
Ruffin-it!…snort!…Somehow I can’t picture Dawson ruff-ruffing it even a little bit like The Giant does sometimes…chorkel!…I see her tucked into a place called The Cozy Inn with her feet by the fire and a cup of hot cocoa in her paws…heh!
10:12 pm on December 6th, 2012
Sammie!…No, her schedule is more like the slop in a pig trough…snort!
10:21 pm on December 6th, 2012
Dawson, Two days of travel. You will be exhausted. Is Staff staying too, so you can all have Christmas together? Does Mr. Dawson stay home or is he able to join you?
Bear, The City of Chicago is being sued by the Bull Terrier folks. Not sure what will happen to the cop, but he needs some sanctions. This was not a charging vicious dog, but a tail wagging large puppy. At the very least, he needs a class on understanding dog behavior. And beyond the obvious animal abuse, what if a bullet had gone astray and hit another person? And these are our public defenders? Gah!
And now we say nighty noodle.
10:46 pm on December 6th, 2012
With all that snow shoveling Dawson does, I bet she is tougher than she looks.
10:50 pm on December 6th, 2012
Shoveling!…We’ve never really seen any photos of Dawson shoveling, have we?…sniff!
10:54 pm on December 6th, 2012
Dawson is one ‘tough little cookie’. However she will be staying at her son’s overnight and then continue on her trip tomorrow. Isn’t that nice of her son to decide to live in such a convenient place for all Dawson’s travel?
Nighty noodle y’all. Except Liz. G’day Liz.
whoo HOOO the Shake your booty fund can purchase 714 booties. Of course, we need 2000 to keep those nasty snow lumps from harming the athletes furry paws. Keep the money flowing. I have some amazing new running dogs for you to view when you donate. snicker.
Hey Rebecca, when is the first race AJ has signed up for? Will there be tracking? I don’t know if we can stand the suspense of another KNIK 300 or whatever it was called last year.
10:55 pm on December 6th, 2012
Oh yeah,
Tenzig and Gus and BooBear’s Dad have a safe warm night under the quilt.
10:59 pm on December 6th, 2012
Alice!…Way to blow all the suspense and mystery out of Dawson’s Travels….grump!…Kats!
11:06 pm on December 6th, 2012
I am glad to hear Dawson won’t be sleeping in a sled bag somewhere.
Staff: AJ might enter a small race later this month that is 50 miles one day and has a second heat of 50 miles the next day. Beginning in January, the race season starts to heat up. He was one of the last mushers to get signed up for the Knik 200—I’m not sure if they’ll have tracking again this year. Later, he is signed up for the Don Bowers 300 mile race—he won the 100 and received the Humanitarian Award in 2011 and won the 200 last year. I think the 300 race will be manual updates again which I like for that race; in the past, they’ve done a good job and are a very musher (and handler) friendly race.
