    Good morning, all.
Spence, we could write a book report all by ourselves, after reading your advice. Forward! That’s our state of mind too, Amigo!

Good morning Howlers and all! Thanks for that Spence and hope you don’t mind if mom forwards it to the grandkids.

Everyone, if you haven’t done so please catch up on last night’s blog so you know about BooBear.

    Greetings!

    Heh! Heh! Nice post, Spence!

BooBear: Sob! I an terribly upset to hear the news about the robbery. I can truly say that I know what your mom must be going through. The first apartment that Grizz and I shared was broken into while we were at work. Many things of monetary value were taken, as well as things of sentimental value. It is a horrible violation. We never felt safe after the robbery, and within months we moved away. I am glad that youse were not hurt.

C.Hobbitz idea of looking into pawn shops is a good one.

    Great GOOGLE doodle celebrating Shakespeare!

We will be getting together with the Prof’s sister who lives in France, and is also a Prof today. This is one of her bi-annual visits to New York. A long walk on the nature trail in Goshen and an early dinner are planned.

BooBear, terrible about the break in. Heartbreaking. The crook or crooks knew what they were after. I’m sure the police could tell that too.

Good morning. Going out to look for some flowers, although probably can’t plant anything except pansies yet. Still some cold days ahead.

Hope Boobear’s Mom is able to find some of the stolen items.

Interesting. I have to do some research on St. Roch.

Yes, today’s Google Doodle is celebrating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. If you click on the blue “Shakespeare,” you are taken to an interesting link which I’ll have to explore.

    Good morning all.

BooBear and Mom: Loving thoughts coming to you from Wisconsin. My parents and grandparents were victims of house burglaries. That feeling of violation is devastating. Everyone has given good advice. Just know we are thinking of you.

Many times drugs are involved. I know someone who stole her own grandmother’s jewelry and sold it. Addiction does something to one’s honor and integrity.

Heading home to Alaska today. I am glad I checked in online last night for my flight. I thought the plane was leaving at 1:00 and I was going to leave my house at 10am to arrive two hours ahead of time. However the plane ARRIVES in Seattle ar 1:00! My flight leaves at 10:30 am so I had to leave my house by 7:30 am. Oops. Sorry to miss Nana but my layover in Seattle isn’t long.

It looks like half the plane indicated that they needed extra time to board the plane. People with canes or babies are obvious. I am suspicious of a lot of the others.

Mom came home excited about being ready for “emergencies”, whatever they might be. She said she used to have oily lamps and flash lights but now she has battery string lights on timers and battery candles and a battery “welcome” lights AND a fan that is electric or battery! Wow! Life is good πŸ™‚

With the pieces being diamond jewelry there is more chance that thieves will try to pawn or sell them. Better chance of finding them. We had a client who had mostly gold pieces stolen and the police said they would be sold and melted down within a few days.

Had one of my go-to easy dinners last night. Baked sweet potato, stuffed with grilled shrimp, spinach, red onion and shaved parm. If you want something easy or are not inclined to cook, but still want something healthy, this is the real deal.

I grew up thinking sweet potatoes were served at holidays, and topped with brown sugar and marshmallows. Actually, they go amazingly well with whatever you like for a topping. I have tried taco ingredients, pasta sauce with veggies and another favorite – cubed chicken, mushrooms, bacon, broccoli and shredded cheese. So gelicious, and you can throw it all together for a one dish meal in 5-10 minutes, (plus the 45-60 minutes baking time. My gourmet hint of the day!

HOH: it is the young single men and women I am suspicious about needing extra time to board a plane. It was a full flight and I suspect they wanted dibs on the overhead storage and probably opted to put their carry ons and bags overhead and leave their feet free of stuff. A woman with a child took the entire overhead bin and more than one passenger called her out on it so she had to put a few things under her feet and the child’s feet.

  28. Masquers
    5:39 pm on April 23rd, 2016

Hobbit: The rules are clear…only 2 bags per passenger…one in the overhead and one personal carry-on under the seat in front of you. Although we noticed on our last flight that the seats are crammed so close together these days that sometimes it is a challenge to find room for one’s feet let alone a bag. Talk about flying sardinesj!

  29. Masquers
    5:54 pm on April 23rd, 2016

And good for the rest of the passengers speaking up!

  30. Herd of Hounds
    6:08 pm on April 23rd, 2016

Mom’s purse (aka steamer trunk) is the smaller of the 2 bags she carries…sort of like Dawson. Her carry on bag is an insulated picnic bag and BOTH fit under the seat in front of her with her feet. How do BIG people fly?

  31. C.hobbitz
    6:24 pm on April 23rd, 2016

I know the rules are clear but know one seems toenforce them. One pet peeve are passengers who put their bags in the front overhead bins and then walk to their seats at the back of the plane…so tthey don’t have to wrestle their luggage down the aisle when boarding and up the aisle when deplanning. Also, since there are size restrictions on luggage, there needs to be some size restrictions on some of those top-of-the-line baby strollers that are rediculously large.

I have boarded and am next to a very overweight man who is not going to be able to pull down and use the tray. And there is a crying baby two seats away. I do have a good book.

O joy, the woman with the baby traded with someone so crying baby is across the aisle from me. Baby also screaming.

BooBear: You may also keep an eye on eBay for your items. Our neighbor said that her relative was burglarized in the past and they were able to recover the jewelry from pawn shops. There is hope! We here are upset for you. We may be thieves, but we would never steal anything. Grump!

We are putting together a schedule to watch over you and your house. Charlie is brewing a big pot of cahors. He volunteered B and their easy chair for first watch.

Hobbit – we know your pain. Planes are no longer fun adventures, but instead are trials to be endured to get to your location.

We have been at the big, formal, social obligation. Wasn’t as much fun as we hoped. The servers passing the hor d’eurves never came near our table. Most of the dinner was on the “forbidden foods” list for me ( though the Storyteller enjoyed two fruit cups and two Bananas Foster desserts). But we will say the live band after dinner was phenomenal. So, not a terrible evening, and now social duty is done. For a year.

Home sweet home to Sadie and Mr. Big. Life is good.
Four crying babies on plane but I was able to tune them out plus they slept off and on. I actually don’t mind babies crying because I figure they can’t help it. The one nearest me was quiet after the initial 29-30 minutes. I did feel bad for the very large guy but he was nice. Taxi ride home smooth and fast but I think he left the meter on in my driveway as the by the time I paid what had been $25 became $31. Live and learn.
