Bomb Cyclone?

Can we tone down the name of this thing a little bit? But we’re all set with our usual snow-clearing tools – leaf-blower and shovel. A powerful, gas-fueled leaf blower, baby, so heads up, bomb cyclone!

    Greetings!

Temps in this neck of the woods will be balmy…mid to upper 20s.
Some snow expected, but since weather forecasting is not an exact science, snow totals here could be anywhere from a dusting to 4 inches.

Stay warm and good day to all!

Good morning everyone! Loved hearing from Staff last night. Wow, a train adventure.
East coast, batten down your hatches and be safe. Alaska, hope the Chinook is over and you get snow soon.
    Happy hump day to all.

They’re saying that it will start in Florida. I remember ice in Florida once about 20 years ago–the fountain on the golf course froze. Yikes! Here today the high will be 19 but tomorrow the high is forecast to be 8.

    Good morning all.

OFA will be getting blasted by this storm. Glad his office is a short walk from the house and he doesn’t have to drive in that!

A leaf-blower? I’m curious. How does that work?

Staff texted that she got to the east side of Montana and there is a delay of 2 hours while they clear a disabled freight train from the tracks.

On the way to the car after settling Nancy on the train i slipped on a patch of ice and suddenly was up in the air, landing on my back and head. We came home and I took some ibuprofen and got out some ice packs. I’m feeling pretty good, all things considered and figure I better keep moving or my back might seize up, so we are going for a walk.

Mom just spent her lunch hour catching up on all the postings between Christmas eve and yesterday. Not only did she play hostess for the Christmas dinner for a small group of the family (entire group was here at Thanksgiving), but she has been battling the mother of all colds since Thanksgiving. She felt horrible but had to work anyway. She finally started to feel better the week of Christmas but relapsed the week between Christmas and New Years. Finally went to the doctor yesterday. Doctor says sinus infection with horrible drainage and coughing. RXd up and hopefully, she will be tip top soon.
It has been very cold for southeast Texas since New Years. Mom cannot imagine what people up north are going to be facing!
Dawson, hope the back is okay.

Dawson: alternate hot and cold packs. I used to take one horrible fall each winter but I have been bruise-free for a couple of years. I now walk like a penguin in winter.

Boo Bear: rest and medicate. You should start feeling much better by the weekend.

I canceled an eye appt this afternoon as it has been 32 and snowing all day…a wet, slippery snow. Traffic is a snarl. I can’t imagine what the very populated east coast will have to deal with. Just take care and be safe.

    Sadie is loving the snow

Never having ridden a train, mom kept wondering why Staff’s train was getting behind on its time. Found out that Amtrak pays a user fee to the freight lines that own what ever tracks they are on. They also have to yield right-of-way to all freight trains on those tracks. Who would have thought?

Dawson!…Yeeeep!…I hope you are feeling tip-top soon…snort!…I worry about my friend out there in the freezing weather and all that snow…grunt!…She walks like a penguin too…heh!heh!

Explain!…I can explain the snow-blower for removing snow…snort!…We saw it for the first time here in the freezing midwest. Our neighbors use their snow blowers to blow away the snow because it is sooooo cold the snow is light and fluffy…chuffle!…It works great! Especially on my driveway! They are so kind and have cleared my driveway for my friend multiple times already this winter…snort!

HOH: when I did my Canada by Train trip, the train kept being sidelined by freight trains. We were to have a 2-hour walk on our layover in Edmonton and local club members were walking with us. We ended up with a 20 minute walk because the train was so late. By the time we got to Jasper, we were 6 hours behind and missed the two hikes we were to do there. I was not happy.

CHobbitz, now we understand some of the railroad issues. Thanks for your illuminating comments. Still, we’d like to do a train trip. Brings to mind Gordon Lightfoot’s “Canadian Railroad Trilogy “.

So a leaf- blower is the same as a snow- blower? I don’t think so.

CHobbitz: i did Ice my sore parts a couple times and I am still sore but not too bad. A bit of a headache, but not too bad. Travel day tomorrow so throwing my 50 pound suitcase around will be a challenge.

    Happy birthday to ML!
