BlogPaws (Still More)

Here’s a pic from Spence’s visit to the 2012 BlogPaws conference in Salt Lake City. There was lots of parking lot action just like this!

Welcome dude relaxing on rock.

Where are the Huskies at Blogpaws?
    We are enjoying the photos.

Oh my gosh. I was the first!

Wookie, The good news is I will get to see Strasburg 9-1 pitch tonight. The bad news is he is pitching against the Pretty Purple team. (sorry Stover)

I don’t think a bulldog was meant for a skateboard.

SH: Who does the “pretty purple team” refer to?

    Good morning all.

  4. Siber-H
    10:17 am on June 25th, 2012

Stover, The Pretty Purple team is the Rockies because purple is their team color. The guys look good in their purple baseball jerseys. If only they would start playing as good as they look.

Went to Friends of Chet. There is no dude relaxing on a rock.

Good morning! Hmm, bulldogs have a low center of gravity so the skate board might work well for them. Not for Newfs though. snicker

“They” SAY we are going to have rain. So far in the past 3 days the clouds have parted over our fair village so it rains to the west of us, the east of us, the north of us and the south of us.

I think it’s wonderful that all youse guys see each others pictures on the top right. I never have of the Plunderers.

Bee, We have seen several bulldogs skateboarding on tv and UTube. Melanie is right about their center of gravity making it easier for them. They seem to enjoy it.

Melanie, we emailed Andrea about doing a pastel at the special price she offered last week. Kelly now has her info. and is going to check out her blog. Then she has to get some photos together to send to her. What is your opinion for a Newfie – pastel vs black and white sketch?

BBL Have to go to the post office and get some things mailed.

My “B” from the quilt square was up just a bit ago.

Masquers: The pie for today is Southern Pecan.

  10. Tupper and Gilly
    11:13 am on June 25th, 2012

Bee – please let the pie be “comfort food”. We are having thunderstorms on and off and we ARE NOT HAPPY about it. Gilly was a complete idiot early thisorning with the first storm. We were even allowed up on the bed and that little dog was still just terrified.
It’s gonna be a long day.

Barb, I think a pencil sketch would be great for a newfie. Remember how nice Kirby T. Penworthy’s sketch looked? Of course he isn’t a Newfie but I am just thinking the black colors….
    Why don’t you ask Andrea?

Masquers, Yes the Prof and I will be in Philly from the 4th through the 7th. Awaiting word from WeatherKat!

Rioooooooooo, I will be gone for most of the auction!!!! What if there is a quilled fairie for auction???

  16. Wookie of Chevy Chase
    11:34 am on June 25th, 2012

SiberH — Strasburg is really amazing. It seems as though he has fully recovered from his Tommy John surgery.* I hope you and Rio won’t mind too much if I don’t root for the Rockies tonight.

*For B: Tommy John surgery, known in medical practice as ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction, is a surgical graft procedure in which a ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a tendon from elsewhere in the body (often from the forearm, hamstring, hip, knee, or foot of the patient). The procedure is common among collegiate and professional athletes in several sports, most notably baseball.

The procedure was first performed in 1974 by Dr. Frank Jobe, who today serves as a Special Advisor to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and is named after former major league pitcher Tommy John whose 288 career victories ranks seventh all time among left-handed pitchers.

P.S. I think this may be the first time that a blog post was ever footnoted. W

    Good Monday to All.

Melanie: Wonder why the Plunderers don’t show up for you up top. The other FOC do, just not us?

Wookie: Interesting about the UCL surgery. It sounds so complicated (to us), yet seems so commonplace. So Dr. Jobe, who must be quite elderly by now, has saved the day for many an athlete.

Gah! 20+ years walking the flood plain and my younger dog Sadie got quilled by a porcupine!!! Thank goodness for cell phones so I could call the vet. Of course, we were on a long walk so it took a while to get to the vet. They are packed with appointments all day so I had to just leave her. Anyone have this experience? What happens post-quilling? My poor dog…

  36. Tupper and Gilly
    3:05 pm on June 25th, 2012

CHobbit – post quilling is usually not too bad, especially since you got her right to the vet. If she got quills inside her mouth, she may want soft food for a couple of days. Most post-trauma dogs especially seem to think that scrambled eggs are a good cure for most anything.

More thunderstorms are moving in so we have to shut down the ‘puter. Then we have to try to move Mama aside so WE can get under the bed too!

Bee – Gilly says that her favorite comfort food pie is Chicken Pot. That Gilly…..

  37. Siber-H
    3:18 pm on June 25th, 2012

CHarris, The first dog my folks had after they got married got quilled. He was a Husky/GSD cross. My dad’s father was there visiting at the time and he pulled the quills out and the dog had no problems at all. It was 90 miles to a vet where my folks lived then. These days, mom would be calling the vet or driving the dog to the animal ER.

Melanie, I emailed that photo to Kelly. I am not an artist, so am asking a dumb question. Is that a pastel or a water color (no pun intended)?

Chicken pot pie is my favorite comfort food, too. Like it with either a traditional pie crust, or the way my mom used to make it with baking powder biscuits on top. And no pearl onions or mushrooms, just potatoes, carrots, and a package of Birdseye frozen mixed vegetables. Yum!

Storms are over for now. Zoë had a very close entourage while it was thundering. She finally went upstairs and had six dogs on the bed with her. Gracie couldn’t find and room so she sat on Zoë’s head.

$180. Sadie is home but still seems to be coming out of sedation as she is very calm and content to lie on my bed. I was told that porcupine barbs travel through the skin very fast so they might have missed one or two. I am to watch for localized bumps and swelling the next 2-4 weeks. So now I am going to lay down beside Sadie for a while. BBL

Poor OH, MM, SB and Rs’M, YSAS and OTAS know exactly when I have coffee because I get sooooo much done and don’t stop talking. Then the next day I’m still feeling it. I’m drinking it on Friday and on Sunday I will probably crash double time.

Rockies Won!! They played like a Big League baseball team tonight!

Kirby, we are sorry the Gamecocks lost. This is small comfort, but at least your game was mentioned during the Rockies broadcast.

Thanks, guys. Sure wish the Gamecocks had pulled this one out. The sad thing is that on the radio sports show Dad listens to every morning, there are sure to be some guys calling in tomorrow for Ray Tanner to be fired — despite winning two national championships in a row and being in the finals for a third. Some people aren’t happy with anything less than the whole enchilada.

Geez – just cuz Spence is in a different time zone – does that mean he gets to sleep “late” and not post until late morning, east coast time?

We think he should get up at 4 am while out in the western states – that way, we will have our usual early morning post….

(just kidding Spence – hope you are having a good vacation!)
