Blog Update
“Things seem to be zooming today,” Admin says.
“Many thanks to Mike Baker,” Spence says.
“Technology marches on, as we always say.”
“Even in Stovernia?”
“Not sure about that. Stovernia has its own codes.”
“Did you ever read P.G. Wodehouse’s The Code of the Woosters?”
“Of course. One of the best-plotted novels I know. Do people still read him?”
“Let’s throw it out there.”
Welcome Bella & Casey Jo, Maxwell (with Julia), Echo.

A voice from the past. My mother always said that there is no rest for the wicked. We’ve been busy trying to figure out what we ever did that was so bad. Tried to post the calendar page yesterday and couldn’t do it. Here goes another try. Glad April, the month from Hades, has passed and we’ll try to get back more often in May.

8:34 am on May 2nd, 2012
Good morning TYB, we have missed you.
Someone on the blog (not us), reads P.G. Wodehouse. I think either Dan mentioned him in his writings, or maybe Staff or her dad.
Have to go back and read the late posts from last night. Certainly hope Spence and Admin are right about the blog problems. Yesterday was a challenge.
8:41 am on May 2nd, 2012
Bertie Wooster here, just testing.
8:51 am on May 2nd, 2012
Good morning B&M! Good morning, TYB!
I was beginning to wonder about you, Tyb. I missed you as well.
I still think there are problems with the Chet’s Friends” pictures. Soemtimes they are there, sometimes not.
Wolfie: Strong prayers and good thoughts out to your mom. Any word on your boys?
Belle Starr: Take good care of your two-legged. Make sure the quilt is tucked in nice and tight.
Hi Bertie…….
8:53 am on May 2nd, 2012
Tyb, thanks for your calendar page!
BTW: There is a mighty handsome husky, named Echo on Chet’s Friends page. (But never as handsome as you, Siber!)
9:05 am on May 2nd, 2012
Admin: Good point, Rose. Will pass that along.
9:22 am on May 2nd, 2012
Thank you, Admin! I appreciate your help with this.
9:24 am on May 2nd, 2012
Admin: I’m noticing that one used to be able to click on the FOM picture at the right, and it would enlarge the photo. Now it brings you directly back to Chet’s Friends page starting with the most recent photos added.
9:32 am on May 2nd, 2012
I just finished last night’s posts and see that DJ and Spencer posted there this morning. It is funny so don’t miss it. Maybe they will join us again today.
9:35 am on May 2nd, 2012
Good morning to all. This blog is so fast today, we might miss reading some posts!
Have never read The Code of the Woosters, but would like to hear more about it.
Siber, did you see this: Hank DeBruin, one of the 2 Sibe teams, recounts the race: http://www.haliburtonecho.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3549215
9:38 am on May 2nd, 2012
There is very advanced technology in Stovernia because we are tip top and up to date! And we love P.G. Wodehouse and have read all the Jeeves and Wooster books. (Loved the tv series with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie also.)
Thank you Mike Baker.
Good morning all.
9:40 am on May 2nd, 2012
Wodehouse!…That’s one of Staff’s favorite authors…grunt!…Maybe Alice’s too…sniff!…Are we back to 50 a page? Or possibly 25 a page?…sneeze!
9:40 am on May 2nd, 2012
Sammie: Thanks for the heads up. I went back and read DJ and Spencer’s post. Verry funny.
I hope they won’t be strangers to the blog.
I liked Steve’s cup.
9:54 am on May 2nd, 2012
The blog seems to be zipping along today. I must confess that I had fun playing Marco Polo in the dark last night, after all my flashlight batteries went dead. Bella won, as usual.
9:55 am on May 2nd, 2012
Yesterday’s blog had 123 posts on only 3 pages so I think we’re back to normal. (Well done Mike Baker.)
I like Steve’s cup. Welcome DJ and Spencer.
Wolfie: Restitution means compensation for loss and injury. The court usually decides on the amount.
10:03 am on May 2nd, 2012
well, ahem, getting into the spirit of the thing…
One of my pet peeves on the blog is that if you click on a FOC photo to enlarge it then you can’t read the comments about that picture. So in order to both have the bigger picture and read the comments you have to click back and forth from the big pic to the small pic.
Which I do happily, more or less, but it would be nice if that could get fixed. Unless it is only that way on my computer?
And It is ME ME ME that loves Pelham Grenville Wodehouse. ME!
Code of the Woosters is one of my favorites, but I think my most favorite is Joy in the Morning.
10:05 am on May 2nd, 2012
Bee, that’s true. It does not include pain and suffering nor will it cover all the medical bills. I am just not sure how they compute the dollar amount.
In my victim’s written statement, they ask me what jail sentence I would like to see him receive.I need to think about that. I hold no ill will toward him. He is an addict and he has two young children. Right now, I would like to see him get help and be a good father to his toddlers.
My husband wants him locked up. (Mary here, not Wolfie.)
10:20 am on May 2nd, 2012
Wolfie, Did this guy have auto insurance, or will the money be coming directly from him? If the money is due from him, and he has none, it will probably just be on record as an unsatisified lien. In this state your medical bills would be paid from your own policy (up to the policy limit) and then they would go after him, but that varies from state to state. Is your own policy covering your medical bills?
10:25 am on May 2nd, 2012
Good morning all. Steve, love your cup. I also like the size. Large amounts of caffeine can fit in there.
Hi DJ and Spencer! You are might cute and have a sense of humor.
I was getting FOTAS and OTAS’s gluten free cake straight with the baker. It is going to be beautiful and delicious.
YSAS, snicker, (I’m shaking my head here) called to say that he had pulled a muscle. He was on the way to work. He’s been working as a painter (a real one) so as to make sure he had enough money for the Bachelor Party and the Wedding weekend.
“Ah, Mom? You know how our family starts doing repeditive tasks and gets bored and then things of ways to improve and make it go faster?”
Just so you know that really is something our family members do. Sometimes it’s great. . .
“Well, I was using the roller and figured out the best method of covering the space without leaving any marks. But, the bending over in a bow was not the best way to end it.”
Sometimes it’s not . .
He’s now limping his way to work. Snort!
Bachelor Party this WEEKEND!
10:34 am on May 2nd, 2012
Sammie, et al. Thanks for letting us know there were more posts on yesterday’s blog this morning. Great post from Spencer and dSpencer. And we really love Steve’s cup. Where can we get one of those for Mom and Pop?
Welcome to all the new FOC. Echo!!! please post on here…we want more of our kind!
10:34 am on May 2nd, 2012
Bachelor Party! Hahoooo! Good time will be had by all. Is YSAS in charge of the festivities?
On a more serious note, got a letter from my (Barb) Sears Master Card, asking me to call about activity on my account. They said someone was trying to use my card for hotel purchases in Mexico. They thought that unusual, so charges wer declined. They have now cancelled my card # and are sending me a new card. Glad they are on the ball!
10:42 am on May 2nd, 2012
This blog is super duper, tip top lollipop today! Thank you, Mike Baker.
10:48 am on May 2nd, 2012
I am IMPRESSED!! The blog is running beautifully this morning. Thank you Spence and Mike Baker. Since they are now gone I can think of all those pages yesterday as somewhat funny.
Fellow Sibers, Thanks for the link because I hadn’t seen that. Tales of the Trail are always welcome especially in this crummy weather…in the eighties again today.
Rio, At least the Rockies didn’t embarrass themselves last night.
They have done well so far against the Dodgers
Rose, Thank you. Echo is a cool name and one we have never heard before.
10:57 am on May 2nd, 2012
That is a funny post by our two new Friends of the Month.
I cannot believe how fast this blog is running. I will be spending less time online. Mom will be happy.
Steve’s cup is cute and truthful.
TYB, Thanks for the calandar.
Where is Macy?
11:00 am on May 2nd, 2012
Barb!…I first thought you said New Mexico and I immediately suspected SiberH of using your card…snort!…But I doubt he gets down Mexico way very often…heh!heh!
11:01 am on May 2nd, 2012
Hi everyone – Mama came out from the Mud Room to get more cawfee, so she said we could say hi.
We love Steve’s cup too – we could make a fortune making and selling those – especially if they were personalized..”Cawfee and Rio’s Hair” hmmmmmm
Would the Kats’ have to say “Tea and Kitty Fur”?
We love Jeeves and Wooster too – Mama says she often feels like Jeeves to Dad’s Bertie.
We would love to see Spencer and DJ come hang out on the blog with us – more small, white dogs with a good sense of humor are always a good thing!
Ok – heading on back to the Mud Room – have a good day everyone, and we hope to be back late tonight to see what everyone has been up to.
(Wolfie – tell your Mom we are holding her in our hearts, and hoping for the very best outcome on everything!)
11:20 am on May 2nd, 2012
(peeking out from under the quilt) is it safe to come out?
Yes, yes it is. Thank you Mike Baker!
Barb&Magpie: You mentioned Rise of the Planet of the Apes yesterday. Just saw it recently and liked the new twist. Still can’t beat Charlton Heston in the very first movie though.
Wolfie: Positive thoughts and prayers for your mom.
11:21 am on May 2nd, 2012
..”Cawfee and Rio’s Hair” Like it!
11:25 am on May 2nd, 2012
My goal today is to get all my clothing out of the bags and into a closet or drawer.
Off to figure it out.
11:28 am on May 2nd, 2012
Staff!…That is after you mail that Rosenfelt book to me, right…grunt!…Don’t forget now! Ya hear!…sniff!
11:33 am on May 2nd, 2012
We like Steve’s cup too.
We are heading into town for quick errands. BBL
Big news here – Barb made an appointment with a DIFFERENT REALTOR to come over and check out the property next Monday. Depending on what she says, there may be some changes here (if Barb lists with her she will be quitting her job). The current realtor, Barb’s boss, has not shown the house herself – not one time- in 2 1/2 years. Does that seem a bit odd?
11:36 am on May 2nd, 2012
The Blog is running like Rosie! Fast and full of beauty.
The Bachelor Party will be a short camping trip with fishing. It is a surprise. OTAS thinks he’s getting help spreading mulch.
Need to find some poetry written by one of youse guys and steal it for my toast.
11:36 am on May 2nd, 2012
Wow! The blog is SUPER fast now. Admin, Thank you for getting the ball rolling. Mike Baker: Good job!
Tyb: So happy to see you back. The May calendar page is great as usual. April a bad month you say?
Steve: Someone here would like to have one of those giant coffee cups.
FOTM: Nice to hear from you. Congrats on being chosen FOTM for May.
Alice: I know you will be of great help to Staff today. Looking forward this evening to hearing of your great accomplishments.
11:40 am on May 2nd, 2012
Bags!…If Staff gets her clothes out of the bags, then there will be room to stuff Alice and AbbieTheKat into them…heh!…Or maybe just Alice…sniff!
11:44 am on May 2nd, 2012
OKAY!! MY WEDDING TOAST!
This was written by Bella. What do you think?
Two souls once wandered alone,
At last found, and to the other known,
With passion and fidelity each does nourish
a new growth of love bound to flourish.
With the strength of the tree, their love does bloom,
and takes root this day as bride and groom.
11:47 am on May 2nd, 2012
T&G, if you make us one of those cups (or 2), we promise to buy them. Great idea for Snowhook Spring MM…just sayin’
B&M, good idea to get a different realtor. We don’t even think you would have to quit the job. Tell her that you got advice from these here friends that it is never good to have conflict of interest.
Also, the farm that we’ve been waiting to open for retail business had their Open House last Saturday. We didn’t know about it unitl Saturday night. This place is not all that close to us, but is within driving distance. Now we are torn. We know it is better to buy local, but we really like Caw Caw Creek.
Here is the place closer: http://wyebrookfarm.com/

Melanie!…Too sappy!…snort!
11:50 am on May 2nd, 2012

11:56 am on May 2nd, 2012
Toast!…sneeze!
Here’s to the groom and the father-in-law,
Here’s to the sister and brother-in-law,
Here’s to friends and friends-in-law,
May none of you need a Wookie-at-law.
12:04 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Here’s to the Bride and Groom! May all your ups and downs be in bed, and may all your troubles be wee ones.
Mom is blushing.
12:05 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Oley!..heh!snort!heh!…Good one.
12:17 pm on May 2nd, 2012
LAUGHING HERE!
Sappy . . . snicker
Wee ones . . . snicker
Wookie-at-law . . . snicker
12:51 pm on May 2nd, 2012
They have those dog hair mugs at Amazon. Mine was a gift.
12:53 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Glad I could help :)!

12:53 pm on May 2nd, 2012
But: T&G could personalize them!
12:55 pm on May 2nd, 2012
You’re cracking me up also. Melanie, why not just say something from you.
12:57 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Hi Michael Baker. Love the photo.
12:59 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Thank you Baker! And we love the photo too.
1:07 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rio, The book is in the post office. Maybe by Friday?
My lawn is full of dandelions and Red Admiral butterflies. When you walk through the lawn the butterflies float around you. The sky is full of birdsong and the breeze is soft. Soft is the best kind of breeze there is.
Just wonderful out here today.
1:07 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Love the toasts. We are not good at poetry, so will leave it up to you guys.
Went back to look at Steve’s cup again and it is gone. What happened?
Oley, Barb would definitely be quitting her job. Her boss is a beast on the best of days. And not in a good way. She could not handle having people ask why her assistant went to another realtor. This is a woman who has never been wrong once in six years!
1:19 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Baker!…Hey! The Fabulous Baker Boy posted! Nice job Michael…heh!…Life is good.
1:21 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Cuppa!…The dog hair cup is still there Barb…snort!…Where you were looking is anyone’s guess…grrruunt!
1:48 pm on May 2nd, 2012
The mug picture is on yesterday.
2:00 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Staff – Are you able to get any pictures of your lawn full of butterflies?
2:24 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Thanks again Baker! I am in awe about how well this blog is running.
Two clicks and the dog hair mug could be on its way. It would make a great gift for people with Huskies.
Melanie, We are staying out of the wedding toast discussion for the same reason Barb has. We don’t know.
2:24 pm on May 2nd, 2012
HI MIke Baker! Thank you (and sorry about that cane thing)
B.Stover: I can get through this without crying. Not sure if I could otherwise.
snickering but true!
2:27 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Barb- what’s so unusual about never being wrong? We Kats throughout history have never, ever been wrong.
There is an old story about a Kat who once thought he might have possibly made a small error in judgement.
He was immediately turned into a dawg
2:28 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Melanie!…So what are the girls doing for the bachelorette party…snort!…Do they need a twirling Pug?…heh!
3:07 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Herbs!!!
GAH
3:07 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Oh, didn’t realize we saw the cup when we went back to yesterday’s posts. My bad, as they say. BTW, we HATE that
expression!!!
The vision of the butterflies and the gentle breeze is wonderful. Not sure what Red Admiral butterflies are. We have a lot of what we think are buckeyes here. Sort of brown, red and white.
3:34 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Just Googled Red Admiral butterflies, and that is what we have too. They are not Buckeyes. Same colors, but Buckeys have circles, Admirals have stripes, which is probably how they got their name! Thanks Staff.
3:37 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Of course you can get through it without crying. It’s a happy occasion.
3:38 pm on May 2nd, 2012
That “West Coast” BlogPaws thing is in Utah. So we assume no plunderers will be at that one, huh?
We would love love love to see the butterflies and dandelion lawn. If only we could feel that oh-so gentle breeze. Its a dark, dank day here. Hopefully we will be getting Staff’s gentle-breeze weather later in the week.
3:59 pm on May 2nd, 2012
We have Monarch butterflies here. They love milkweed.
4:20 pm on May 2nd, 2012
4:24 pm on May 2nd, 2012
As I was out chasing butterflies around the backyard I got close to our old Hopa Crabapple tree. Or what is left of it. It is humming. That happens when it is blooming and the bees are working hard in it. There were lots of Red Admirals in the tree also so here is one of those pics.
I got my undies put away but the socks have defeeted me. I have way more socks than any normal person would need. It is because I can only buy one kind of show to fit my terrible bad feet so I compensate with socks. At least they are less expensive.
4:28 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Interview!….Did youse guys read the interview Spencer gave on BlogPaws?….snort!…Here is part of what he said.
“There’s so much pleasure to be had in encountering others to whom dogs mean so much. Second, I plan to talk about the techniques of online brand building in support of a published product, in this case my Chet and Bernie mystery series. I’ll also talk about how to handle – in the nicest way – the occasional unruly online follower. (It can be like herding cats, if you’ll excuse the expression.)”….
Unruly!…. I wonder who he is referring to as the unruly online follower?…grunt! …Alice!
4:31 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Staff, thanks for posting the beautiful pictures. And Mom has the same problem of overabundance of sox. She also thinks it is because she can’t wear fancy or pretty shows.
4:41 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Alice My Socks!
We all know who is the unruly one here. And it is NOT Alice Q. Johnson. It is not her name that has ‘evil’ in it. NOPE. Not me!
Must be a PUG!
I am sure that many Blog posters would agree with me. Basil and Sage, Buddy and Masquers too. BooBear, BlueKat, Oh so many that i can’t remember them all. Snort!
4:44 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Protest!…Me thinks Alice protests too much…heh!heh!…Unruly behaviour will get you no where Alice…grunt!
4:45 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Q!…Alice Q Johnson?…snort!…Does that stand for Quarrelsome?…sniff!
4:48 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Herding!… And why would Spencer specifically mention Kats?…”It can be like herding Kats….”….snort!
4:58 pm on May 2nd, 2012
How honored we are – a visit from M. Baker his self – with a photo no less. We do thank you for smoothing things out. Pretty rough ride there for a while.
Staff: An abundance of the little lions. Have you ever made dandelion salad?
The pictures you posted are making us wish for that gentle breeze. sigh.
5:01 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Gasp….Spence couldn’t possible be referring to any of us dogs.
5:03 pm on May 2nd, 2012
possibly
5:06 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rio! the Q. stands for Quinn of course.
heh heh heh
5:18 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Alice: It’s way too early to cozy up. Wait until later in the month.
5:33 pm on May 2nd, 2012
She is unruly and defiant, her feet never stay at home. Proverbs 7:11
5:35 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Beau!…Watch out! You do not want to get on Alice’s Quarrelsome side…heh!heh!
5:39 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Thanks, Mike!
Rio: Would you jump out of a cake in a g-string for the bachlorette party? heh heh
5:43 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Is certain Spence does not talk about Natasha. Ve are Nefarious, but ve are NEVER unruly.
(unless of course ve are vith handsome Siberian Husky vith nice truck – but that is other story, not for this here blog)
5:45 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Hi Natasha!
5:45 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Wait till I get together with Tupper and Gilly. We could herd kats, even a large herd of them! Nuttin to it, right girls?
5:49 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rose!…I was offering up Beau for the Bachelorette Party, not myself…grunt!
5:51 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Yeeep!… The game is tied at 3…snort! …Bottom of the 8th…sniff!….I’m listening to it with my little headphones….heh!
5:52 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Cargo!….Wooooo!…He just hit a Homerun making the score 5 ta 3….Wow!Wow!
6:00 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Cargo has hit two home runs in this game!! WOO WOO
6:08 pm on May 2nd, 2012
The Rockies just have to keep the lead through this inning.
6:20 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Struggling to keep my eyes open. As I have said before, fronts that come through? Some of them just put me to sleep. It’s really bad with a Nor’easter.
We just had Riö’s Hot Wings! Very good.
Movie of the evening was “They Do it With Mirrors”. We made it half way through.
6:28 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Barb, the other guy had lousy insurance and it has been collected and ready to pay back my medical insurance. I have good under-insured motorist coverage but good luck getting State Farm to pay.
6:29 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Can anyone recommend a good car insurance company?
I am switching.
6:33 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Road trip!
Moms leaving on Saturday for a cross county trip with her best friend!!
From California to Virginia in 10 days!
Yippee! Except that I have to stay home with Dad and Gus Puppy.
6:36 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Staff – The butterflies are beautiful!
6:48 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Wolfie, This trip will be very good for your mom. We are happy she is going.
(whispering) I don’t think there is such a thing as a good car insurance company.
Does Rio know the outcome of the Rockies game? I will say nothing in case he doesn’t.
6:49 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Aw, shucks, Rio!
6:51 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Love the picture of Pearl on the right!
7:07 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Grump!…Thanks Rose…sniff!….I was going to watch the replay with my friend but she saw your post – we are ass-uming they lost….grumble!
7:10 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Mood!…Someone here is in a really really bad mood tonight…wuffle!…Seems her mother took a message from her renters that they would be over here tonight to bring the rent and have a “chat”….sniff!…But her mother did not get a specific time as to when they would be here….wheeze!…So her evening plans are out the window and we are sitting her waiting for them to show up…grump!…They dropped the check off and drove away earlier – which seems weird….sniff!
7:13 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Your mom needs the services of Wookie-at-law.
7:18 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rio! Watch the replay.
7:29 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rose: My two legged laughed at me again last night when she arrived home for work. I was so excited that I couldn’t decide between a hug and a belly rub so I did both at the same time—does this ever happen to you? She said it was more like a pawstand. She still rubbed my belly even though my tail tickled her nose as I wagged it back and forth.
Howlers: Someone here is trying to arrange a stop in Salt Lake on her way to a work conference in Atlanta so she can attend a portion of the BlogPaws conference. Who is it? Not me, that’s for sure. But I will tell you she has two legs and her own supply of chapstick.
7:30 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rio, watch the replay.
Does anyone know? Can you sue your own car insurance company?
7:45 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Replay!…Now that you want us to watch the Replay means they won…sniff!….The fun is still gone…grunt!
7:57 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Crap!…They are not going to show the replay till way way late, if at all…sniff!…So it doesn’t matter one way or the other.
Renters!….Still not here….dammit!…Nothing pisses me off more than waiting on people…grump!
8:16 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Rebecca!…snort!…That would be amazing if you figure out how to get to the BlogPaw thingy…heh!…If you get there, you could come a little farther and see me!…snorkel!
8:31 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Spence! Just a little further and you’ll really be on the West Coast.
Bella: How kool would that be to make it to BlogPaw. Too bad Rio can’t leave his yard or he could meet up with you there.
8:41 pm on May 2nd, 2012
I’m outa here folks. Zonked out from this front.
TTFN
9:20 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Off to watch a movie!
Talk to y’all tomorrow.
9:36 pm on May 2nd, 2012
BSD’s handsome face is up top right now.
Rio: Maybe you could leave your yard while your friend is at work and we could go to the conference together. We could have an unruly conversation with Spence.
9:45 pm on May 2nd, 2012
Trip!….Beau would blab on me if I left him here with her mother…grunt!….He can be bought with Zingers, but my treatie budget has been slashed. The new computer took every dime I had and then some…sniff!… It would be fun to be unruly in front of Spencer though…heh!…His pant leg would never be the same…chuffle!

Wolfie, don’t know what to say about recommending a different ins. commpny. Barb’s career was with Country Insurance, which is now known as Country Financial. They were one of the top 3 in Illinois, but only started expanding to other states in the last 20-25 years. I think they are in Az. and Colo. but not Calif. Probably will never be there. Actually State Farm is considered a top knotch company, and generally good with claims. Another biggy A.S., generally doesn’t have as good of a rep. for claim handling. Not sure of some of the independent companies that you purchase thru an indep. agent, rather than a captive agent like State Farm. Look at the Best Rating, and go with companies that have an A rating. Stay away from the sub-standard carriers that market more to the high risk drivers. You might want to check out Farmers and American Family if they are in your area.

What other online book club has a resident insurance expert slash gardening guru?—You tell me.
Rio: I would be willing to dip into Belle Starr’s treat budget, which is the same thing as my treat budget and spring for zingers for bribing Beau.

Online!…Book club? Is that what we are?….sniff!…I never suspected that…huffle!
Treats!…Better keep talk of bribery down low…snort!…If Beau decides to read your post all biblical hell might break loose…wheeze!

Barb, according to my attorney (I hired one on the advice of the DA but am undecided if I did the right thing) State Farm is one of the worst to pay out. It gets tricky with all the liens and lawsuits going back and forth. State Farm has yet to reimburse me the deductible. Good gravy!
However, I am very hopeful that your house will sell SOON!

Thank you Rebecca, and frankly, gardening is a lot more exciting than insurance.
Our neighbors think Barb is nutty because she doesn’t use chemicals on her garden. Barb took over some cilantro plants for them this evening, and they said they had just sprayed their 2 raised beds with Roundup to kill the weeds. Barb sort of gasped and they started shaking their heads and laughing at her. They could have pulled the weeds in 20 minutes, but instead they are going to be eating Roundup for the next two years! Who is the nutty one?

Rio: I thought there was talk a while ago of describing the Plunderers and Chet’s as an online book club to avoid strange looks and polite nods. Bribe? What bribe?

Roundup!…I thought Roundup was a ground killer…snort!…If they are spraying their raised beds with ground killer they won’t be eating anything…grunt!

Wolfie: One of my bosses and I talk about traveling around the world while the husbands stay home. We’ve decided if, and that’s a big if, it ever happened we need to make sure we pack two things: clean undies and bail money.

Wolfie, State Farm home office was right down the street from Country in Bloomington, IL. Maybe they were better in their home state, or maybe they were better years ago. Barb started in 1986, and retired from Country in 2006. When she had clients that were in accidents with State Farm insureds, they never had much problem with claims.
Roundup–it kills existing weeds, then you can plant things in there afterwards and they will grow. Only thing is Roundup has a half-life of 60 days (I assume that means it is 50% gone in 60 days) but there will still be some residue in the soil next year. I can’t believe that some of the chemicals don’t go into the growing vegetables. Either way, we will not be eating any produce from their garden.
We are getting heavy lightening and thunder, so will be saying good night.

Belle Starr: (whispering) Sometimes I get soo excited I feel like I need to go to the bathroom! It happens when I get nervous too. Before I get the lightning bolts, I must go at least 5 or 6 times.
Rio, you chunk of burning love: Even though your teeth don’t meet evenly, I think those renters need their pant legs grabbed……
