Bistro (More)

Many thanks to Mark Veach, Bistro’s human companion, for the following re Chet’s June friend of the month:
“I am so happy the R#G selected Bistro! I love your books and have mentioned the Chet and Bernie series in my group … We rescued Bistro last summer from the Lansing Humane Society. She is originally from Detroit. She is a happy dog with lots of energy and especially loves chasing her big Jolly Ball and spinning through the yard with her tug rope. She also loves to zoom through our yard then plop down, roll over onto her back and play “roadkill”. And now she is a famous member of the nation within the nation! Thanks a ton.”

Balls, zoomies and playing roadkill–what a life! A match of a good dog with a good man.

I wore myself out yesterday clearing out 4 rooms to be cleaned today. I resorted to filling boxes with magazines and paper crap and shoving them into my master closet and into my “catch all” room to tackle later. My garage needs sorting this summer also. I’ve started the process as soon as it started getting warm enough to work in it. Lots to do … but it is doable.

    Have a good BooBear Day!

Happy Friday, all! Sounds like Bistro is a very happy and lucky rescue. I love the description of flopping down to play roadkill.

For those of youse who do not live in this neck of the woods, you are all missing the most incredible onslaught that Mother Nature has ever come up with — the Brood X cicada, which appears every seventeen years. Here in Chevy Chase, it seems as though we are at ground zero. They are everywhere. They are loud. They are incredibly annoying. And there are literally millions and millions of them.

Unfortunately, the creatures suffering the most during this onslaught are the members of the nation within, for whom cicadas appear to be an incredibly yummy treat, even if not really digestible. Franklin has not escaped this affliction, although we try to keep his consumption to a bare minimum. Others are not so lucky. Our next door neighbor’s dog has to wear a muzzle or else she would scarf every single on that she could. And the might of Max the dachshund even made the Washington Post. Yuuck.

WTAFP: Seems like cicadas are the Lays potato chips for those in the Nation Within. :^)

Wondering what Chet thinks of cicadas as cuisine…

Wose, about the only thing the HOH thinks isn’t fine cuisine is lettuce without dressing!

Not everyone is annoyed by the cicada invasion.

    Kinda cute.

Glad we don’t have them here but will try to remember the muzzle suggestion should a similar solution be necessary. Diana pawPrints has a Baskerville and she can drink through it and I can give her treats through it.

Bistro has no idea what a lucky puppy she is. They never do. She Is going to have such a wonderful life.

Cicadas!…We lost all our trees last summer so no cicadas for me to munch on. Heck we can’t even hear any of them right now…snuffle!

Rose!…Rabbit Update!…wheeze!…The little rabbits are still in the walled in area with the barrels. My friend has put down clover and water and Mother set up little ladder type things so they can climb out when they want to…wuffle!…But tonight my friend actually saw Momma Rabbit in there feeding them. So they are doing just fine by golly…heh!heh!…I just wish they would leave soon…sneeze!

WTAFP! Thank you for the link to the story about Max and the cicadas. I read it out loud to my sister and we both laughed and laughed.

Rio! So happy mama bunny came back to tend her babies. Enjoy, because they will be gone soon.

I remember visiting my grandparents farm back in the day and not being able to sleep because nature was so loud! I also once visited cousins in Chicago and couldn’t sleep because of the city sounds. Alaska can be pretty quiet place in which to grow up.

My house is clean. It cost me a pretty penny but the spring cleaning is worth it. Yardwork is my next project this weekend.

It was a sunny day which was odd since the weather app said cloudy all day.

Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite, or the cicadas.
