Good morning. Prayers for Nina and Bentley.

Good morning OH and all! Yes, OH. Pawrayers and pawsitive thoughts. Rained like crazy all night here.
I’m having a thunderous Tuesday before going to the library. BBML.
8:07 am on October 14th, 2014
At least they are not jumping the gun. Positive thoughts going out to Nina and Bentley. I am not sure that there have been any cases of Ebola in canines. Maybe they can be carries, but I don’t think they know at this point. I would not want to be traveling by air at this time.
Rainy here too. Off to work shortly.
9:08 am on October 14th, 2014
It sounds like Bentley is in safe hands. Wishing all the best for Bentley and Nina. Reports seem to indicate that she is stable as well.
No baseball last night in Kansas City. Hopefully the extra day off will help the Orioles regain their form.
10:10 am on October 14th, 2014
I hope both Nina and Bentley are okay. He is certainly a cutie.
Good morning all.
11:24 am on October 14th, 2014
This is how my day is going. Got up this morning, got my coffee, the newspaper and a lovely, flakey apple pastry. Then the phone rang. When I came back:

Oh well. At least he left the coffee….

Best wishes for Nina and Bentley, a new truck for Snowhook, and a new apple pastry for Tupper’s Mama.
Good morning all.

SiberH!…I was reading a sports page trying to find out about todays game and I saw this quip about the play-offs…snort!…”…if Martians were to set down on Earth this month and take a sudden interest in baseball, they would do a couple things. First, they would have to figure out which of five different possible channels the game is on. (Not to worry: This is challenging for Earthlings, too.)”…gruffle!…So true.
11:50 am on October 14th, 2014
Snowhook’s webpage (and facebook entry) show a new sticker available for purchase and also Snowhook’s embroidered patch and tote bag. Great sticker price. Nice!
12:17 pm on October 14th, 2014
Yes, Prayers for the nurse and her dog. I have hope for the nurse because it was caught early and she has already received blood with the Ebola antibodies in it.
12:25 pm on October 14th, 2014
Rio, Gah! Finding those channels has been ridiculous. I would have been lost without my newspaper.
The games today:
St. Louis at San Francisco, 2 pm our time on FS1
Baltimore at Kansas City, 6 pm our time on TBS
12:29 pm on October 14th, 2014
I think that cat was set up. I am sure the Storyteller brought the cat and put it in that chair and then left with the flakey apple pastry.
Just my humble opinion
12:34 pm on October 14th, 2014
It is a cute picture of the Kat…Sage…I think.

Snigglefritz! Trouble here with power going off and on and losing internet and long posts.
Checkpoint Update
Yentna checkpoint for Zoe & Family and the Iditarod checkpoint for Kats Rule! are both now fully funded! All the matching funds were used. Thanks to all of you who made a pledge at snowhookcheckpoints@gmail.com or went to snowhookkennels@blogspot.com to donate.
The only checkpoint open for donations is the Giant and his Best Damn Handler Wife – Nome checkpoint.
There are 4 Iditarod checkpoints left to sponsor:
Finger Lake, Takotna, Grayling, Kaltag and Golovin
Okay – I know that is 5 checkpoints, not 4, but one of the above belongs to Spencer Quinn. As soon as Rebecca quits poking the dog truck with a stick she will let us know which checkpoint belongs to Spencer Quinn.
New donors are welcome to pledge at snowhookcheckpoints@gmail.com anytime, day or night.
3:32 pm on October 14th, 2014
Thanks for the caboose!
Snigglefritz!
I have a long post awaiting moderation at 3:20.
I have lost a previous long email to Rebecca and long post here due to internet connectivity problems and power going on and off. I’m frustrated and going for a long hot soak.
Checkpoint Update will be at 3:20 sometime in the future. Check back!

O”Howlers: Yes I did get your email and your donations all got Rio’s matching funds! Sorry I did not email back. The matching funds overwhelmed my accounting systems. Thank you for double checking.
Welcome back, Nana!

Concerned about the Pixie and the dog truck. O.K. One worry at a time.
Tupper’s Mama, your breakfast thief should join forces with our “pillow killer”. They’d be an unstoppable force of nature.
4:14 pm on October 14th, 2014
Also we love the Williamsville/Lehigh Valley train fotos. We have an RR museum here in Chattanooga and a coulpe of times a year they do historic runs and a dinner train. The waiting list is out the door! We are just glad some people want to preserve that part of the heritage of an area.
P.S. We also have a tow truck museum here in town since the first tow trucks (Holmes) came from Chattanooga. Whoo hoo, ain’t we hot stuff?
4:25 pm on October 14th, 2014
HOH: We would have LOVED to have had a meet-n-greet in St. Louis but the schedule was INTENSE (and youse are a fair distance away) Not to worry…it will happen…and soon!
4:28 pm on October 14th, 2014
Bear and Masquers: “God Only Knows” is just a beautiful song from a classic album by the Beach Boys called “Pet Sounds.” The song was originally sung by Carl Wilson, youngest brother of Brian Wilson (he is the man playing piano when the tiger jumps up on his piano). Carl had such an angelic voice. Brian was the man behind the songs. “Pet Sounds” is so revered by so many musicians, even today. In fact, the Beatles were so in awe of this album, their answer back was “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” I love “Pet Sounds.” “Sgt. Pepper” isn’t too shabby either.

Trisha, thanks for the award info and nighty night to youse.

Hmmm. A call to the internet provider has hopefully solved my internet outages. Now, if the power will stay on…
Hey Trisha!
5:21 pm on October 14th, 2014
HOH: “Pet Sounds” was a complete 360 for the Beach Boys whose songs were always about cars, girls, beaches, and surfing. Very catchy stuff. When Brian stopped touring with the band, he concentrated more on recording, and the music became much more sophisticated. “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is another great song from the album.
5:35 pm on October 14th, 2014
Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older, then we wouldn’t have to wait so long? Yep, remember that too (especially growing up in the So Cal). Mom never was quite the Cal Gal even if she was blonde and surfed and scuba dove.(Short and pudgey were 2 draw backs.) She is glad to be in a less crowded, less populace place with us, Us, US!
5:44 pm on October 14th, 2014
Dear Wrotten-Kat Defending Plunderers – Sage is guilty as sin. There is no other explanation. Neither the Storyteller nor Gramp were at home. The Corgis are too short to reach the bar height table. Even Callie is incapable of counter surfing on that table. Basil eschews all human food except pork, and will only eat while sitting on the floor. I did not eat the apple pastry and forget that I had done it.
We do not have anyone else in the house. (Ghosts do not eat pastry) Plus Sage had crumbs in his whiskers and a delighted look on his face.
Alice and Abbie have risen mightily to Sage’s defense, but all is for naught. The Kat is guilty, guilty, guilty I tell ya.
And unremorseful as only a Kat can be!
6:04 pm on October 14th, 2014
Thanks for the info Trisha. Flanagan is Australian.

Tupper’s Mama, we love it when 2 leggers try to cpme up with explanations of how things “discapeer” (per Popeye). We Know the truth but wont let on to 2 leggers.
Mom is starting a book by John Straley the writer laureit ?) of AK. His hero is an “antihero”. Will let folks know if it is a worthy “read” (sorry HRH B).He lives in Sitka so may not be as AK as Anchorage or Fairbanbs or Nome.
6:57 pm on October 14th, 2014
BSD, We asked before but didn’t see Nana’s answer. Where did she stay in St.Louis? City or suburbs? Barb grew up in a south St.Louis suburb, Affton, and her sister lived in Webster Groves for years, then Manchester. Now she lives in St. Peters and Barb’s niece lives in O’Fallon. I believe those are western burbs. We love St. Louis. Hope to drive down there with Kelly next month.
Did Nana have time to see the Arch?

So maybe the picture is from another time?

So I’ll try just one. As I was washing dog jackets I came across two skull and cross bones jackets. So Wyatt and Harris got dressed up.
7:17 pm on October 14th, 2014
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: Nana stayed with her sister in the Town & Country area. The pre-party, wedding and reception were in different suburbs of St. Louis. There was some concern after the latest shooting, but the Demonstrations proved to be Peaceful.
Too bad our visits did not coincide.
No time to See the Arch. 🙁
7:19 pm on October 14th, 2014
Ah, the Beach Boys!
Two years ago the other buddy and I went to our biennual (every two years?) vacation to Traverse City, Michigan. Outside of the city by 15 miles is Interlochen, a well-known performing arts high school/college center. We saw the Beach Boys, the version led by Mike Love. It was a hoot. Picture everyone dancing in the aisles, even the other buddy in this house who has been described as — well — reserved.
Last year (okay we didn’t skip a year this time) we went back and the Brian Wilson Beach Boys were performing. We didn’t see the performance, but stayed down the hall from them in a very nice hotel. One of the musicians descended the elevator with the other buddy and joked that there was a g-u-n in his guitar case. Anyway — the next morning we were eating breakfast downstairs and were approached by several people for our autographs because we are “of an age” of the Beach Boys. Honest folks that we are, we had to admit we were just a couple of retired teachers from Wisconsin.
You couldn’t make this up.
7:28 pm on October 14th, 2014
Yo, the WI retarded teachers, mom would post the foto of her shirt that says: I may be old but I got to hear all the cool bands. But she can’t post fotoz
7:31 pm on October 14th, 2014
P. S. Love the doggy “jolly roger” shirts
7:48 pm on October 14th, 2014
So Wyatt and Harris are going trick or treating? Cool! We wanna do that one year.
7:48 pm on October 14th, 2014
At Interlochen, we also saw Joan Baez (who did a devastating and spot on parody of Bob Dylan), Peter, Paul, and Mary (Peter or Paul was a student there), and Dave Brubeck. I know there are others, I just can’t remember.
We rode by the night before the Dave Brubeck performance (the first time we went) to make sure we knew the way. The other buddy is OCD. We walked by a great looking old car with NY license plates, and this very gorgeous, cool man walked by us and said, “Howdy.” I just about swooned and said “howdy” back at him. I said, “That is Dave Brubeck.” Other buddy said, “Nah.” The next night, on the stage walks this gorgeous, cool guy. I said, “Oh, that must have been Larry or the other brother Darrel Brubeck,” ala Bob Newhart. When we went to tour the wineries the next day, I told everyone that my brother had seen Dave Brubeck in concert at the University of Wisconsin in 1960, and I had to wait for 40 years to see him in concert.
You couldn’t make this up.
7:50 pm on October 14th, 2014
Sage is innocent, I tell ya’. Those silly Corgis figured out how to eat the pastry, and then put poor Sage up there to take the blame. I am asking Attorney Meashka to take the case.

Billy’s Buddy: Great Beach Boys Story!
HOunds: Someone Here got to Hear all the Cool Bands too. But alas, the Versions of Cool Change with each decade. Sigh.

HOH, I like John Straley books. There’s a real Pacific Northwest feel in them that I can appreciate.
Alaska is BIG. There are a lot of places there different than the cities mentioned.
8:05 pm on October 14th, 2014
AJ: Love the trick or treaters!
Okay, so I am going to start another book. Wondering if I should read “Alaska” by James Michener, the book highly recommended by Rio, or dig deeper into my very, very large to be read pile…..
8:09 pm on October 14th, 2014
Good to hear that about Straley. Enjoying the beginning of the book but who knows?

9:39 pm on October 14th, 2014
Dear Attorney Meash,
I am in deep trouble.
But it was HER fault. She left the pastry there, and it was so warm and buttery and flakey and tempting.
So I ate it. What is a Kat to do?
Now, she says I am something called “guilty”. No I am not – I do not feel even a tiniest, littlest bit guilty for eating that pastry. It was delicious.
Can you help convince Mama that I am not “guilty”.
Signed,
Sage With the Crumbs in His Whiskers
9:47 pm on October 14th, 2014
MagPie!…Now that is a bathroom someone here would give away at least one pug for the opportunity to own it…grunt!…That pug would now be me. No it would not…sniff!
9:49 pm on October 14th, 2014
Sage!…You may or may not know that circumstantial evidence is evidence that relies on an inference to connect it to a conclusion of fact—like a fingerprint at the scene of a crime….snort!…By contrast, direct evidence supports the truth of an assertion directly—i.e., without need for any additional evidence or inference….sniff!
9:50 pm on October 14th, 2014
I, Maggie, would have scarfed that pastry up in a New York second. And would I have felt guilty? Are you kiddin me? I say way to go Sage. Do it again tomorrow, and the day after that…..
9:52 pm on October 14th, 2014
Crumbs!….Some would say that crumbs in your whiskers are Direct Evidence supporting the fact that you did indeed eat the pastry…gruffle!…And you enjoyed it! One might even conclude that it was premeditated pastry pilfering…snort!
9:53 pm on October 14th, 2014
Whoa! Rio, We are IMPRESSED with all that legal lingo. What, have you been watching Law and Order?
9:53 pm on October 14th, 2014
Rio – Huh? What evidence? I ate it.
Barb – Mama thinks your chicken bath is adorable.

10:13 pm on October 14th, 2014
Sage!…Crumbs = Evidence. In fact, Crumbs in your whiskers are Direct Evidence…heh!…You are going away for a long time pal. What size orange jump suit do you wear?…snort!

sage, you are a good wizard and good wizards are always innocent.

10:15 pm on October 14th, 2014
Oh, and we love Barb’s loo!
10:15 pm on October 14th, 2014
In our experience, crumbs aren’t evidence if it can reasonably be argued you were holding them for a friend. The same can be said if Belle Starr is around to blame.
In our experience it also helps to have Teddy’s paw on speed dial. We are making a mental note that it is also helps to have Rio on speed dial. He may not have passed the bar exam, but chances are he passed a bar on his way to the joint to bring a Slim Jim with a file hidden inside.
10:16 pm on October 14th, 2014
Rio, you would make a most excellent judge!
10:23 pm on October 14th, 2014
Rio – I would not wear an orange jump suit – I prefer apple. And around here, crumbs are an everyday occurrence.
Elliot – thanks for your vote of confidence. How much do we have to pay you to be on the jury?
10:24 pm on October 14th, 2014
Evidence!…Exhibit A shows what appears to be a Pastry Crumb on the face of alleged perpetrator…snort!

What? – you never heard of a beauty mark????
10:31 pm on October 14th, 2014
Sage, If you are to wear an orange jump suit, it follows that you will be breaking rocks in the hot sun. How does that appeal to you? Best advice, don’t admit to anything and wag your tail….a lot!
Umm, do kats do that?

Defense!….The Defense Attorney has not shown up to argue any defense, so I believe this is a win!win! for the Prosecuting Team, ME!…heh!

Wait Wait – I object! The Defense Attorney is most likely sleeping in her nice soft bed, with no baseball toys. Just wait til she is on her toes in the morning.
Meanwhile, I will see if there are any more homeless pastries hanging around…..
G’night everyone

There is a pretty good chance brother and I might end up in an orange jumpsuit like Sage before to long. For what?—you’re guess is as good as mine, but it wouldn’t be the first time. I’m glad Rio’s Friend didn’t press charges when I lovingly and gently tried to pick her pockets. Pancho and I are staying busy trying not to get caught for a number of things.
There is a lot of cursing and banging going on in the lean-to that now serves as Auction Central since the ‘incident’ that destroyed our original AC. It seems as though our Lady received an order from Auction Central for extra hot wings and beer for the upcoming holiday auction that will take place around Thanksgiving. This order sparked her to begin preparing for the Holiday Auction. From what I can tell, preparations include tuning up the new-to-us bid tracking machine. And, if tuning up means banging on the machine and swearing a lot, I’d say our preparations are going well. Meanwhile, Luna is calmly going about repainting the Musher’s Mercantile in preparations for the Holiday Boutique with nary a swear word in sight. She must be doing something wrong.

Attorney Meashka here. Sage, please stop talking to people about “the incident”. Due to client/attorney priveleges, I am sworn to secrecy. You did not eat that pastry. Repeat: You did NOT eat that pastry. We aren’t going to blame the sweet, adorable Members of the Nation Within your Home. Rather than that, the defense will pursue a plea of temporary insanity, due to the power of the apple aroma being put off by those apples and that flaky pastry.
Either that, or we will point our dewclaws at the woman who lives in your house.

I am late to the kat vs. pastry story, but in looking back over all the testimony, I have to point out that the dam kat in question confessed. case closed. (at least until an apple scented hairball is coughed up)
