Bella Rescue

On Sunday, close to home. Great job by a very professional Cape Cod fire department:

“Falmouth Fire Rescue Group #2 assisted Falmouth Animal Control in freeing Bella. She had ventured into the neighbors yard and got her head stuck in vehicle tire metal rim. Several attempts were made to free the dog by Animal Control and bystanders Animal Control requested our assistance Engine 25, Heavy Rescue 31 and Truck 28 were dispatched. After evaluating the situation, a wet blanket was draped over Bella and the pneumatic abrasive wheel was used to cut the metal rim away from the dog. The rim was cut from lug nut hole to lug nut hole. Cooling the metal and dog to prevent injury. Three lug nut holes were cut and metal fragment removed. The dog was then guided back out of the rim without injury. Bella wet and tired was turned back over to her owner unharmed.”

We are glad Bella is safe. We tell Howie all the time in Pancho & Lefty’s Academy of Manners and Wotnot —- we are accepting new students if anyone is interested —-that anything worth doing once is worth doing well.

What a sweet girl. So happy she is free and safe with no injuries.

This happened once to the brick wall at the side of my parent’s house. Our dog was in the back yard and her “boyfriend” decided to try to pay a visit. Stuck his head through the decorative brick and got it stuck. No amount of salad oil or dishwashing soap could free him. My Dad had to break the brick. He gave the owner a good talking to. Luckily he had a spare block as they don’t make that decorative brick any more.

Our girl denied knowing the amorous suitor. Said she’d never seen him before in her life.
