Beginnings (More)

On Sundays we’ve been doing beginnings – all the Peter Abrahams books in chronological order, including those written under the Spencer Quinn pen name. Here from 2010 – #24, THEREBY HANGS A TAIL, second in the Chet and Bernie series. Among many other things, Chet has an encounter with aging hippies. I love writing about hippies!

[“Quinn has a gift for hardboiled and Kibbled dialogue, and his novels are a delicious mix of comedy, of quirky character studies (in the manner of Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiaasen) and Sam Spade-style action. I can’t think of a better break from the headlines.”
– Booklist]

The perp looked around – what nasty little eyes he had! – and saw there was nowhere to go.

Good morning B and everyone. Happy Beginnings and Chetspeak and Egg Day and Sunday. This is our second favorite C&B, but then, has OFA written a bad book?
    Enjoy this Sunday.

Rio, mom can understand tearing up when seeing truly historic artworks. Friend’s fotos are great. We are looking forward to hearing more about the Midwest Plunderfest.

While the Thieves are taking orders for IDs, I’ve taken a gig to help cover the cost of the mini bar. As of Friday, I am supervising the Giant supervising the glacier. He is a full time job.

Rain!…The skies opened up and we ran to the front of the stage. What else?…heh!…We saw the concert first paw from the stage and then second row when seats became available…chuffle!…Wot a great night!

I knew the Thieves were not to be trusted in their account of events.

Rio: The last time the Giant had soft paws was when he was a pup. Now, his massive paws are calloused and stained with hard work.
