Beginnings (More)

On Sundays, we’ve been doing beginnings – all the Chet and Bernies (as part of Chetspeak) – and now taking on all the Peter Abrahams novels in chronological order. Here, a day late, from 2008, #19, DELUSION (3rd in the prison novels, the others being LIGHTS OUT and END OF STORY).

[“Abrahams constructs a powder keg of suspense … He manages to imbue this page-turner with themes of racial and economic injustice while conjuring the ghost of Hamlet’s father to hover in the wings. Stellar.”
– Hallie Ehpron, the Boston Globe]

The man they called Pirate heard a guard coming down the cell block. Pirate had excellent hearing. He could identify the guards just from the sound of their footsteps on the cement floor.

Good morning everyone. We are enjoying the “beginnings” almost as much as Chetspeak. Hey, mom has been accused of having hearing like that, but it is nothing compared to ours.
Hope everyone has a pleasant Monday.

Good morning! Happy Belated Mothers Day to all. Mom’s cold got the better of her all weekend and she was mopey and barely moving around. Today she is much better and, of course, at work!

    Another great beginning!

The sun has managed to peek through the clouds finally.

RIO! Sounds like a nice Mother’s Day was had by all yesterday. I bet that bread your Friend made yesterday was delish! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

    Good day to all!

Our Lady listened to Delusion while she painted the exterior of our little homestead a couple of summers ago. Tenzing helped by laying next to the wet paint and napping. It was a tough job, but he was up to the challenge. Thanks to our Lady’s insomnia, she painted until the wee hours of the morning and decided to call it a day once the book was finished. Did she discuss painting the house with the Giant beforepaw? Boy, was he surprised when he arrived home on his days off from the glacier.

In case anyone is wondering, you haven’t lived until you’ve spent a weekend on a shelf in the closet of LouLou’s maw with a bunch of LouLou’s toys.

    LouLou: Thanks for the boost.

More to LouLou: Can we order a coupla pizzas for delivery?

Ole Doc, Casa di Pizza is right around the corner. I have to be gluten free, is that okay with you?

I learned something about myself tonight. I only like gluten-free pizza if it is made with gluten. Live and learn.
