Beginnings (More)

On Sundays, we’ve been doing beginnings – all the Chet and Bernies (as part of Chetspeak) – and now taking on all the Peter Abrahams novels in chronological order. Here, from 2007, #17, BEHIND THE CURTAIN – second in the Echo Falls trilogy. This book includes one of my two weight-lifting scenes. The other’s in LIGHTS OUT. They’re very different. (It’s also possible that there’s a third somewhere, possibly in a Chet and Bernie.)

[“… Abrahams’ exceptional overlay of detail, especially descriptions of the particular stresses and the goofy occurrences that mark Ingrid’s experience as an eighth-grader, makes the story very convincing as the action builds.”
– Booklist, Starred Review]

Ingrid Levin-Hill sat in math class, her mind wandering pleasantly.

Good morning everyone! Happy egg day and Chetspeak and Beginnings and Sunday. Somehow we wish that the kids books were not just trilogies. We really enjoyed Echo Falls and Birdie and Bowser.
Hard to believe that April is almost gone so enjoy this last Sunday of April.

No internet this weekend so Mom just caught up using the phone.
Yesterday, Mom was going to feed a friend’s cats and got caught in a horrible traffic jam. She was stopped for over an hour. Turns out it was due to a horrible 4 car accident. Life flight was involved. Mom saw the vehicles when she finally got passed the site of the accident. Haven’t heard what happened to all involved but Mom hopes no one died.

Rio, It is very sad about the blog isn’t it? I have been on the book of faces instead and so the blog is languishing. sniff. Sometimes I think I will go back to it but the book of faces is so very easy and the blog actually takes thought.

    very very sad.
