… a French holiday celebrating the Chet and Bernie series, which is why SCENTS AND SENSIBILITY comes out that day (Tues.). Here’s Spence’s schedule. Come ask him a question in French! He’ll answer, “Vin rouge!”

Good morning, everyone! Vin rouge indeed. Rio’s “give up the coast” made us LOL. Our mom grew up in So Cal and CA breaking off and falling into the ocean was a huge worry as a kid (as were nuclear air raid drills, more later). ML we love hearing your voice back now and again, WE will miss those in Cle Em pcer the mountains 🙁 Bet you are all glad Wimbleton is almost done before we do more bad tennis jokes!
Saturday day, so soon. In honor of Diane’s flashback of yesterday…Surf’s up Saturday, Dude!

“OVER” not pcer…Darah has BIG paws 🙂

Its sort of ironic that we are depleting our aquifers to the point of destruction. That is what humans do, sorry to say.
California is the biggest grower of almond trees, which need year round water. Massive amounts of water is being pumped out of the aquifers just to water those trees.
Now we are reading that Selleck paid for the water, but still he was not justified in taking it.

3 more days and SAS comes out. We can’t wait.
After walkies Barb is going to shower and get ready to go to her oldest daughter’s home for lunch. Today is Shannon’s 46th birthday. How did she get to be so old, when Barb is only 59!

Didn’t we read that Sellick wasn’t going to pay mega bucks but the 21,000 for the cost of the investigation?

Red wine is always a good answer.
Good morning all.

Bee – you need to teach OFA how to say “Cahors” in French. Heh heh.
We just looked at the calendar and guess what? There is NO writing on today’s block. None! This means there are no errands or appointments or shopping or NUTHIN!!!!
This means Mama gets to stay home with us, us, us all day long. Woo hoo. Look out sun deck, here we come.
10:54 am on July 11th, 2015
T & G, What does your mama think of the Oak Flat mining trade in Arizona? We think it is just another example of politicians behaving badly. I would think McCain, being from Arizona, would have a higher regard for his Native Americans constituents. They are all such whores, selling their souls for political contributions. This is why I like animals better than people.
11:11 am on July 11th, 2015
Barb – all we can say is that no Native people would ever vote for McCain based on his history with them.
‘Nuff said

Sometimes we learn from our history. Sometimes we do not. What should this tell us?
4:22 pm on July 11th, 2015
Don’t know much about history and, come to find out, what I was taught in school about “Indians” was false!
Something was wrong with the computer this morning so I unplugged the doo-hickey for 10 seconds then plugged it back in. That is my one trick but it didn’t work this time. The prospect of having no computer until Monday or Tuesday sent me back to try again and I unplugged a “D-link” box for 10 seconds as well as made sure all the plugs were tight. And I have computer, whew! I am addicted.
Yesterday, at long last, I received Woof. I’ve only read a couple pages and it is going to be excellent, I can tell. I feel a little down so my project today is to get well into that book!
BearSpiritDog: Tell Nana to have a blast!
The week of rain forecast has so far been 1 rainy night and three sunny (except for the smoke) days. We are dry but the rain barrels are still half full.

Dawson!…My friend says she works with a newish person who is part-time and is a Glass-Half-Full kinda gal…snort!…She is starting to rub off on my friend in work related issues…snuffle!…So therefore, and not just because, my friend’s time at the busy-place has become more bearable each day this week. By Friday the small little team had smiles on their faces and were talking civilly to each other…snort!…Everyone is being cross-trained and now understands that each others job is not Cake and there is less resentment…sniff!…Although, my friend is the one who was expected to do everyone’s job when anyone was out. But no one did her job and NOW that is not going to happen ever again because finally those others will have training on my friends job – which is not Cake…heh!heh!!

Schedule!….Sob!Sob!Sob!…There is that damned schedule again…sniffle!…Two days in my state and do you think I can get there?….sob!sob!sob!…tweet!

Mr. Big enjoying his monster shadow yesterday on the sunny deck…

6:40 pm on July 11th, 2015
Rio: I look forward to the day when your friend can retire and get away from that crummy job. I remember the last few years of my job when we were pressured to do more and more in the same amount of time for less money. Then when the staff gets cranky with each other the bosses mandate Respect in the Workplace meetings. Respect in the Workplace from above would be nice. I remember the good old days when a boss cared about his employees. Maybe that still happens somewhere.

Mr. Big: Looking good!
6:42 pm on July 11th, 2015
24-hours later and “shorn like a sheep” and enjoying a cat’s version of a strengthening cocktail. Lou Lou and Sammy have nothing on Mr. Big. when it comes to haircuts. However the groomer called me early to pick him up. Something about “Mr. Big is done with me” and she wasn’t able to finish the job or give him a bath. She mentioned something about maybe getting him sedatives or kitty valium.

6:45 pm on July 11th, 2015
Mr Big!…Shorn!…snort!…Oh my dawg, I would not want to meet up with Mr Big in a dark alley anytime soon…gah!
6:45 pm on July 11th, 2015
Girth!…And here was me thinking most of his wideness was fur…heh!heh!heh!…gasp!
6:47 pm on July 11th, 2015
UP!…We are going upstairs to check on Mother. I will then watch in anticipation of my friend as she makes supper….slurp!…None for U Mr Big!…grunt!
6:49 pm on July 11th, 2015
It is not as bad as it looks. Mr. Big wanted to be petted and then remembered my role in the process and gave me a couple of swats. He will be fine and the hair will grow out in time for winter.

Belated Greetings to one and all–I had an early shift at the library today (where we’ve also been “cross-trained” except that after 5 weeks there are STILL plenty of problems) so am late joining y’all here.
HOH–I just saw the “serve but not eat” joke. LOL except hasn’t Chet made a meal of a tennis ball? (And even if he hasn’t I know some other four-leggeds who have).
Rio, Dawson, and others wondering about decent and supportive bosses–Please feel free to have a look at this interview from the LA Times http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-morrison-zimmer-20150708-column.html#page=1
6:53 pm on July 11th, 2015
C. Hobbit–Mr. Big now looks like a panda, sort of (and I mean that in the nicest possible way).
6:57 pm on July 11th, 2015
Rio, Why do you say you can’t go? One time is after work on Friday and the other is Saturday. Is it because you feel you cannot leave your mother alone? There are services you can call for seniors that are reasonable. You can also hire someone for a few hours to “keep her company”. And Hospice I understand is not just for those that are terminal anymore. Even an adult babysitter in the neighborhood would work, if you don’t have a friendly neighbor that will do it.
Please don’t take this wrong, but you CAN make this happen if you just decide that you are going and figure out a way. Your mom could probably stay alone for a few hours if necessary. What do you do when you are at work? If nothing else, put her in a wheelchair and take her with you (as a last resort).
And don’t grump at me, I am trying to be helpful, because I know you want to see Spence.
7:04 pm on July 11th, 2015
Also, here’s some vin rouge for y’all (I haven’t thought of this song in years, but I’m trying to put off going to the gym).

Barb!…I have explained this before and as usual…heh!…You either did not read the post or read every other word…grunt!…Time and place are the issues. It is AT NIGHT and 1.5+ hours away. We live North and he is touring South…grumble!…My friend, even in her New Car, cannot see to drive home all that way at night. So it would be an over-night adventure, just like last year. Last year it was doable, this year being away all night is Not a good thing right now….sob!sob!sob!!
7:13 pm on July 11th, 2015
Barb!…Night vision blindness…sniff!…I forgot to mention that in my explaination above. Even last year she was so grateful her longtime friend showed up or she would have been in dire straights trying to find her way back to the hotel on her own…guffle!
7:14 pm on July 11th, 2015
With!….Take her with us?…hehehehhehehehehehe!…Now you are being delusional Barb…grunt!
7:51 pm on July 11th, 2015
I did not remember (don’t think I ever knew) that your friend has a problem with night vision. I can understand not being able to be gone overnight.
Maybe Spence could meet you for a cup of coffee for a few minutes before the signing. Then you could get your books signed and still get home before dark. Just a thought.
8:21 pm on July 11th, 2015
(((sigh)))!…My friend says do not make her feel worse than she already does…grump!
8:43 pm on July 11th, 2015
For some reason, Basil and Sage are over in a corner giggling. Something about a picture of a nekkid kitty kat.
Rio – we feel your pain. Whenever OFA is in our area, we are not. Remember when we were at the beach the year he came to a town right next to ours?
But we will be on the Cape next weekend – that is the show where OFA usually finds time to come visit. One can only hope.
8:48 pm on July 11th, 2015
Sorry, Rio. It was not my intention to make your friend feel bad. I was just trying to search for a workable solution to her problem.
9:29 pm on July 11th, 2015
It is awful to have a tour, book or otherwise, because someone will always get missed. We will this year and we think it stinks! Why are we always 2 hours from anywhere?

The ‘easy’ quilt her mother asked her to make. Triangles and more triangles and some other wierd shapes She is matching up the seams like a champ.

Only the top row is sewn together in this picture. Right now all 7 rows are sewn and 4 of them are sewn together!

Hello everybody I just stopped in to say goodnight Mom’s estate sale is over and went very well. I am dozing at the keyboard so I will send hugs to all.

Good night ML – glad things are going well for you.
Staff, your young guest is very talented. Her colors and designs are well done.
Hope our whole family is present and accounted for tomorrow.

Dawson I ordered S&S from Eight Cousins for you. They will be mailing it to me next Wednesday after the signing and then I will ship it out to you.
Nighty noodle to all except LizF in Oz
It was nice to hear from ML and here is hoping that Wose is doing well. I miss Siber-H’s Mom too. sniff.
