Baseball’s Back!
“Thank heaven,” Spence says. “Need those sounds, those rhythms. Ready with your World Series picks?”
“Nationals versus Orioles,” says Admin.
“Very low carbon footprint.”
“The earth will cool appreciably if it goes seven games.”

Good morning. Low carbon footprint, indeed. Snort.
8:35 am on April 6th, 2015
Good morning,O’H and everyone! Now we need to worry about carbon foot prints AND the aquifer? Way too much pressure!
Have a swell Monday.
8:38 am on April 6th, 2015
Oh goody. (Carbon footprint?)
Good morning all.
8:42 am on April 6th, 2015
Greetings to All!
I see that Spence has picked Teddy RR’s team to make it to the World Series. I have written down his predictions…let’s see if he is right at the end of the regular season.
Amens, er, Amen to Beau’s sermon last night. His sermon led me to post here this morning.
Since I am still unemployed, I will watch the Yankee home opener today.
Still not in full-time posting mode, but know that I am always lurking…

Hi Wose. Good to hear from you.
9:00 am on April 6th, 2015
Yeah! Our Wose is back. Ya gotta love her! Sloppy newf kisses from Darah Thea and dainty kisses from the rest of us.

Thank youse for the welcome!
9:21 am on April 6th, 2015
Baseball season = pie for everyone!
Hope everyone had happy holidays.
Thanks for all the good wishes with Dad and the house. It is helpful to know that others have gone this way and come out the other side. I know first hand where we get our pack-rattedness from and it is Dad. Just when I thought I was done with going through paperwork I ran into more boxes – financials from the 60’s. The 50’s and the 40’s are around here somewhere, undoubtably.
I have barely started going through my books and “stuff” yet.
I’m going into lurker mode.
9:41 am on April 6th, 2015
And Dawson, you will come out on the other side, none the wiser we bet! (We didn’t, why should you?)
10:10 am on April 6th, 2015
We hope the Padres show up high in the standings, oh, yes we do. So there Spence!
10:26 am on April 6th, 2015
Oh Bee- lets go find a cave somewhere, well stocked with easy chairs, books and cahors where we can wait out the silly season.
Good to hear from you Wose. You are missed.
Hang in Dawson. Sending hugs.
10:40 am on April 6th, 2015
LOVE YOU, WOSE!!!!
Have news that I will post for Mom either tonight or very soon! Excellent news (work related.)
10:46 am on April 6th, 2015
Here is my takeaway from the holiday:
Family Schmamily. Grump
The only family my mom needs is us us us.

Rose!!!!!!
Welcome back!!!!
You have been missed!!!!!
10:47 am on April 6th, 2015
WOOOOOO!….HOOOOOO!…Baseball is BACK! Now life will become normal again – it’s as if a light has been switched on and I am coming out of the darkness…snorkel!twirl!…sneeze!
10:48 am on April 6th, 2015
Sorry, Spence, but the Giants will be three for three this year.
10:48 am on April 6th, 2015
Rose!…snorkel!…I have missed you my little peanut…slurrrrp!
11:12 am on April 6th, 2015
Rio, and I have missed you, you baseball loving, curly-tailed, Zinger loving, pug of burnin’ love. When is the opening day for the Rockies?
11:14 am on April 6th, 2015
Tupper’s Mama: Instead of staying in a cave, I think that we should travel across Europe.
11:15 am on April 6th, 2015
Hi Rose!
11:40 am on April 6th, 2015
My very, very, very BFF is back from lurking mode. Yeah! Woof! Zeta and I were about to do a search and rescue if she had gone missing much longer. And my gal Zeta and me are hoping to make it to another Nationals game this year, hopefully one that is not rained out. However, rain or shine, the treaties are always awesome at the games. (Note that the prediction that Spence made this year was actually my dad’s prediction last year; he’s sticking with it too.)
And for the Drew sisters, message from my dad — we had to do the same with his dad just about a year ago, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I do go with my dad a lot to visit grandpa cause he still gives great tummies. If your dad is fond of any of the girls, bring them along to visit him — it can help a lot.
12:21 pm on April 6th, 2015
Rose, glad to see you here this morning. You were missed, but you know that.
Bee and T & G, better make room in that there cave for Barb.
I guess if you can put up with all her garden talk, she can put up with the base of balls.
Barb’s mom moved into her house in 1959, and passed away in 2001, so the 3 kids had to go thru her paperwork dating back 42 years. I don’t think that generation threw out anything. Fortunately, she got to live in her home till she passed away at 81. That doesn’t happen very often.
12:27 pm on April 6th, 2015
Plunderers remind me of a big group hug! What a blessing that Rose is back to posting and so upbeat! Must be baseball? And Drew sisters….been there moving my Mom, but long ways to go in getting rid of unnecessary old paperwork! Gah…big mistake? Brought some of it home as I thought it had sentimental value!
12:54 pm on April 6th, 2015
ALR…we are paying attention to your words of wisdom.
Thanks all
Rose, I too have been thinking of you. Right now I am in the midst of trying to upload a video of Henry, your god-kitten, and me me me. It takes a long time but when it is done I will send you a link.
Damn! The camera shows every single wrinkle on me and none on Henry.
An example of one of the things we found in Dad’s files. He didn’t like base of balls, but he was a statistician.
Measuring Clutch Performance in Major League Baseball using Play-by-Play Data. A presentation to the American Statistical Association, June 1990.
and
Probabilities of a team winning a game, given the amount ahead or behind and the current inning.
Question? Throw or Keep or send to someone, OFA?, on the blog.
12:58 pm on April 6th, 2015
Bee – a trip through Europe? Excellent. We must stop at the Palace and say hello to all our Royal cousins.
And can we go to Tintagel and Merlin’s Cave too?
ALR – group hugs are what the Plunderers do best!
12:59 pm on April 6th, 2015
ALR sentimental, yes. Value, we question. Our folks were children of the depression and saved everything, valuable or not.It was interesting to go through things but we still question the value of a post card from St . Sommmewhere or the other.
1:09 pm on April 6th, 2015
Tintagel and Merlin’s cave? oh, yes! We will go for those. The more the merrier.
1:16 pm on April 6th, 2015
The cookies that Rio sent are now all gone but just in time a package of Twix bars showed up. My super healthy diet won’t suffer. Thank you all!
1:58 pm on April 6th, 2015
T & G: Of course we’ll stop by the Palace. They will be expecting us. And yes to Tintagel and Merlin’s Cave–I love Cornwall.
2:05 pm on April 6th, 2015
T & G: We’ll also have to go to Talland House in St. Ives which is where Virginia Woolf spent summers as a child. (To The Lighthouse.) We’ll also go to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens and Knole (Woolf’s friend, Vita Sackville West lived in both). And, of course, Charleston House–home of Vanessa Bell.
2:36 pm on April 6th, 2015
I want to go to Bath and Rye. Georgette Heyer and E. F. Benson.
2:49 pm on April 6th, 2015
Wose! It’s wonderful to hear from you (as you can tell by the sentiments expressed by so many here).
I found myself much taken by yesterday’s exchange between Beau and Lefty.
Beau–what if someone is suicidal and has a vial of poison or a gun that s/he’s planning to use? Would it be OK to steal that from the person to protect him/her?

Dear Blog Family–I am asking your pawrayers and good thoughts for Conan who is currently hospitalized with high liver and kidney enzyme levels. I am also thanking you in advance.
2:52 pm on April 6th, 2015
HOH and B. Stover–If you let Merlin out of the cave, can you find out how he feels about older women with dogs?
2:54 pm on April 6th, 2015
Hobbit, please check your SDD when you have a moment.
2:55 pm on April 6th, 2015
Staff: Bath is wonderful! (I love Georgette Heyer’s novels. There is also a Jane Austen center in Bath.) I’ve never been to Rye so, yes, let’s go there as well.
3:00 pm on April 6th, 2015
Diane: Ever since his beguiling by Nimue, Merlin is hesitant to leave his cave.
3:08 pm on April 6th, 2015
Staff: Love the video.
3:30 pm on April 6th, 2015
Purrs and hugs for Conan and Diane. In our prayers.
Linus crossed the bridge Saturday morning. Mom was pretty emotional all day, but she knows he is in good paws.
3:38 pm on April 6th, 2015
Boo Bear – give your mom a special headbump from us. We know Linus is well now, and probably so happy to see his daddy again. And we are looking forward to the good news of tonight.
Diane – prayers will be offered tonight for your baby puppy. And for you – we know how hard this is.
We are also quite sure that Merlin would be willing to be a long distance penpal – but once burned, twice shy. (there was a funny, interesting series of books years ago about the Lovecroft Café, featuring a returned-to-the-present Merlin and Modred. If you can track them down, you might enjoy them)
Staff – the video is just lovely. Especially since we remember the dark and stormy night when you first brought him and his baby sister home.
Bee – whilst traveling, can we pop over to Egypt and check out the locals for the Elizabeth Peters “Amelia Peabody” series, and Dame Agatha’s Egyptian “Poirot” stories?
3:41 pm on April 6th, 2015
Staff, Henry is a cutie! How can you get anything done with him around?
Rose, I am delighted to see you on the blog and to know that you are lurking. As Spring truly starts to make itself known, I find life easier to live. Hope you do, too.
3:49 pm on April 6th, 2015
T&G: Egypt will be one of our stops.
4:09 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear, T and G–Thank you on behalf of Conan (and me).
I’m sure Linus is feeling much improved already–maybe he’ll visit in your dreams…

Very cute video of Henry and his mama. What a snuggler!
Have the girls finally accepted the newbies?
5:47 pm on April 6th, 2015
Diane I am sending loving and caring thoughts to Conan.
And to BooBear and your mom, I am sending big love and hugs to you both. Linus should look for my cat Kelly. He has been on the bridge for quite some time, and will be a good friend to Linus.
Since I am not on Facebookie, I can not see my godkitty Henry.
RIO! The Yankees broke my heart this afternoon.
6:15 pm on April 6th, 2015
Tupper!…Just to be clear, Beau and I do not wear Dip-Thongs….grunt!….We never have and we never will…sniff!

Didn’t Beau wear something in elastic from grandma’s panties?
6:30 pm on April 6th, 2015

6:52 pm on April 6th, 2015
DianeC, Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way for Conan.
6:54 pm on April 6th, 2015
Rio is making me laugh.
6:54 pm on April 6th, 2015
I know I am old, be even if I were young I would not wear thong undies. Tried ‘um once about 30 years ago and they are awful! Some of the younger members of Barb’s family wear them, can’t imagine why.
7:00 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear, I am sorry for your family’s loss. I am sure Siber-H (a fellow Texan) will take Linus for a ride in that Porsche.
Hugs and Love to all of you.
7:30 pm on April 6th, 2015
Love to Diane and to BooBear’s Mom. It occurs more than we want. Thank y’all for being our surrogate family especially in times of need.
8:12 pm on April 6th, 2015
We are praying for Conan. We are praying real hard, Diane.
BooBear, please give your mama big hugs from us. We know that Linus is missed, but he is surely purring away in his daddy’s lap. Sniff
8:18 pm on April 6th, 2015
I want a Henry of my very own. I love him. <3
8:35 pm on April 6th, 2015

Rio, Better Call Saul has been renewed for next season. There will be 13 episodes instead of the 10 this year.
9:14 pm on April 6th, 2015
Siber-Maw!….Yipppeeee!…I love Better Call Saul..snort!…The story line is very rich, sad and funny all at the same time…guffle!
9:27 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear our sympathies to your family. I know you will give your mom extra purrs and love. Dainty licks from Macy.
I had a very nice weekend with my girls. Niki came up because it was one year since we lost Rick and she wanted to be with us. We got together with his family to celebrate Easter on Saturday and my mom and the girls plus Angie’s bfriend came to church on Sunday.
Gary still wants to get together again. My suggestion is that we take the dogs for a walk. He has kats. Should be interesting!
9:38 pm on April 6th, 2015
ML – glad you had family around. Your girls are lovely, and we are sure they are a lot of fun.
Closet #2 is now cleaned out. We realized that some of the clothes in there were literally 30 years old. And hadnt been worn in many many years. Mama still has a hard time parting with them, but she did it. Lots and lots of donations going to Sal.Army tomorrow….before she unpacks those boxes.
9:39 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear!….I want to hear the Excellent Work News you promised to post about earlier….sniff!sniff!
ML!…Will this Kat-Guy be walking his Kats?…grunt!
9:54 pm on April 6th, 2015
T & G, if you haven’t worn it in 30 years, what are the chances?
Anyone watching the Wisconsin-Duke game? We don’t normally watch the Final Four, but we are right next to Wisco, and brother works at Duke, so we sorta have to. We are rooting for Duke, of course.
9:57 pm on April 6th, 2015
Barb!…snort!
10:03 pm on April 6th, 2015
Barb – actually, there are chances she would wear things again. As a matter of fact, she just ironed a shirt that hasn’t been worn in at least 10 years – she is wearing it tomorrow.
(She is somewhat addicted to clothes. Remember how our Friend used to love to go “shopping” in her closet?)
10:15 pm on April 6th, 2015
Psst – Barb, Maggie and Lucy – check your SDD when you have a chance
10:15 pm on April 6th, 2015
Wose: You are loved. Never forget it.
10:20 pm on April 6th, 2015
Creator, Please bless and keep Linus’ spirit. Thank you for him. Please comfort those grieving his loss. Please bless that he will know he is loved. Amen.
Creator, It’s me again. Thank you for Conan. Please bless that his ills or pains will be short lived. Please make his path easy, whatever that path may be. Please comfort those who love him most whether they be animal or human. Please bless that he will know he is loved. Amen.
10:22 pm on April 6th, 2015
OK, T & G will do. And BTW, Barb has some OLD stuff in her closet.
(She probably will not wear it again).
10:22 pm on April 6th, 2015
Amen and lovely prayer
10:22 pm on April 6th, 2015
Diane: The Quilt has been wrapped around you and Conan. Have I mentioned I make a great pillow?
10:26 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear: Truman waited at the entrance of the Bridge for Linus. Linus, for his part, had eyes for only one lap. He is restored to Prime. We will care for him.
10:57 pm on April 6th, 2015
Bless!…sneeze!….Dawg Bless Linus and Conan…sniffle!..I did not know dose guys, but I am betting dey were Good Fellas…sniffle!
11:01 pm on April 6th, 2015
Mom gave her notice today. She has worked in the office of the car dealership since 1979. Business has gotten crazy lately and new management came in. Mom has been working12+ hours almost every day. Not getting home until 8 or 9 at night. One night last week she had to work until 1 in the morning.
This past weekend, the owner of the company Dad worked for offered Mom a job. Office closes at 5 so no more late work nights. More money and more time off. She is very excited. It’s only about 5 minutes from her old job so she can still meet friends for lunch. If she can’t retire yet, this is a good step to take.
11:14 pm on April 6th, 2015
Thinking of Boo Bear. Both the happy and the sad. Thinking of Diane C. Glad Rose checked in today.
Wore myself out today trying out a Zumba class. Heh
11:15 pm on April 6th, 2015
BooBear, Great News! I am very happy for your mom and all of you kats and one dog. She will get to spend so much more time at home with you guys.
This couldn’t have happened to a nicer and good-hearted lady.

Yay for BooBear’s Mom. Good news indeed.
11:41 pm on April 6th, 2015

Still catching up on yesterday and today’s posts.
Loved hearing from our BFF. We love you, Rose.
BooBear: Both sad and happy for your mom at the same time…sad because I know how much you all miss Linus…and happy because of her great new job.
DianeC: Prayers for your dear Conan. Know that the Plunderers are here for you.
Dawson and Staff: Thinking of you and your family and sending hugs.
5:53 am on April 7th, 2015
Congratulations to BooBear’s mom. This new opportunity sounds like a very good one.
{whispering} Mom was so sure you were going to announce your retirement, and that would not have been nice. She would have been so jealous.
ML, Having Gary the Cat Guy walk all your little fur babies is a very good idea. Only then can you know what he is like.
1:26 am on April 24th, 2015
I read this piece of writing completely about the comparison of hottest and preceding technologies,
it’s amazing article.
