Baseball: Looking Back

Spence: Just looking back at your World Series picks, made here April 10.

Pete: Why?

Spence: Doesn’t there have to be accountability in life? Or at least continuity?

Pete: Kafka didn’t think so.

Spence: But could be hit the curve ball? Here were your picks: Red Sox versus Cubs. So you’re half alive.

Pete: Beats Kafka.

yEEP! Nana had a Call last night from a dear Friend saying her former Home in Northern California was one of the casualties of the Fierce Fire raging through the Napa Valley. They had Planned a Trip in the coming months to revisit that area where both had lived. Now it is in ashes.

Matthew’s first wife lost her home also. My heart is heavy because she lost her husband a year ago. She is a lovely person.

Good morning HOH, HRH B, and everyone.

The ground is white this morning. I’m trying to be excited like a child about it, but I’m not. Just not. 🙁

I do have a brand new Cubs hat, so there is that. 😀

Not to be bragging or anything but GO ASTROS!!!!!!!!

Houston (who doesn’t usually do well in any professional sport) is crazy nuts about the Astros this year. And now that JJ Watt (the hero of the Texans football team is out for the year, everyone is pushing the baseball playoffs!
Sorry, Spence, since we may have had a lot to do with the Red Sox going down in flames.

The new head librarian asked mom to shelve a cart of audio books since they were behind. An interesting change of pace. Just hope she doen’t do it often since the children’s books are always in need of attention.
So sorry to hear about the 2 houses in the Napa (among all the rest). Wondering when CA wine prices will go up? (Cynicism)
Dawson, put on that hat and a light jacket and go out and jump in that white stuff for 35 seconds!

Hello all. So tragic to lose a home. My property was flooded once in one of those 100 year floods and that was bad enough to deal with. I had to leave the property while it was still happening and was in shock for two days worrying about my house. Fortunately it turned out that my foundation and crawlspace were air tight and only a bit of my garage got wet. However, I had to bleach my well and have a friend with heavy-duty equipment do some reconfiguring of my property. Fire would be the worst to deal with as HOH knows.

I have been watching the snow come down the mountains for 4 days and if the weatherman is right (ha!) I will have snow this Sunday. However, I will be in Ashville NC for a week hiking with a tour. What is interesting is that the normal (until I moved to Anchorage) was to see the snow starting down the mountains in August. Autumn also used to last two short weeks and now we are still experiencing fall after several weeks. Alaska is an area that is experiencing intense climate change (no matter your beliefs as to cause). Some of the changes are good, some not. But apparently if I stay here I might eventually have my fantasy is living in a place with four distinct and equal seasons.

Fire is frightening but we were so lucky in comparison. We may have lost the house and lots of things but we still had our neighborhood. We really worry about the Napa, Sonoma and other fire victims.

Beau had been pulling some strings so we could post on the blog again. We haven’t been able to post for the past few days. It pays to have a pug in holy places.

Beau! I can attest that Beau has passed the time betting ponies and adding to that Thou Shall Not List. He ordered more stone tablets on Amazon because he ran out of room. I suggested using a dry erase board or an etch-a-sketch for recording those Thoi Shall Nots. Then he added that to the list.

Thank you for helping us help our friend’s dream come true! She will now be able to focus on her voice and not worry about funding her completion. Yeep! Thanks!

Hi ML. I did it by changing my name from Staff to Anonymous but I still put in the rest of my info so my picture came up.

Anyone can be Anonymous but it pisses off RioTEP Anything that pisses off Rio is fun in my book.
