Bark To The Future

Last week we mentioned the title of the next Chet and Bernie novel, coming in August: Bark To The Future. Reader Ann Levenson Green suggested it and she’ll get a signed copy on pub date. It fits the story – which is kind of about revisiting the past – in a way I liked. Maybe this is a good time to let newcomers to the series know that the books can be read in any order. (See earlier post re the continuous present.) Meanwhile, re Bark To The Future, do you ever think about your high school days and wonder how particular people turned out?

I wonder if any of our readers enjoy Albert Payson Terhune books as much as I did. Here’s a chance to get some and benefit the Whitefish library.

My 50th high school reunion is coming up this year. July I think. Am I looking forward to it? Not really. Price is doubled and it looks like instead of a buffet it will be happy hour stuff at a bar at a different location than our usually restaurant and I am anticipating not enough seating. Will I go? Probably. I’ve gone to every one, every ten years. If they have a 60th I may go to that one too. But at some point I’m just going to stop. It’s sad to exchange news of classmates passing. My graduating class was 1009 so there are still plenty left locally. Not everyone returns for reunions. But I don’t see these people except every ten years and I can’t say they mean as much to me now as they did 50 years ago. And $75 to stand up for three hours eating cold chicken wings doesn’t exactly appeal to me. I was hoping for something more special for our 50th. It just kinda sucks.

Will have the first of the new granny square block to show tomorrow. Maybe two of them.
