Good morning, everyone! Very interesting article, thanks. Look at Snowhookk’s motto: They want to run. They need to run. They love to run.
Stay safe all and have a toasty Thursday.
8:30 am on November 20th, 2014
Thank you for the article, Spence. Very interesting. Read most of it, but it is looong so will get back to it later.
Off to the office shortly.
Sharon is right, a warm, toasty Thursday would be good.
8:33 am on November 20th, 2014
Yesterday’s storm finished up and is done. The new storm that started overnight in Niagara Falls came south over us and dumped about two little inches of snow. Then it went further south in the south part of the city and the southern suburbs where they have been socked in and there it sits.

8:54 am on November 20th, 2014
Greetings!
I read through the article quickly but will go back to it later. When I looked at the picture of the dogs, it looked like the collar on the dog might have been Savanah, so I thought, “it’s the Snowhook team!”
MPM: What an incredible picture! This is really the snow that Alaska needs! You and LouLou stay safe. Tyb’s picture is up top. Any word on how Tyb and his pop are doing?
HRH, B: Today’s GOOGLE Doodle is dedicated to Corita Kent. I always love it when you give us background information.
Good day to all!
9:21 am on November 20th, 2014
Wose, the photo of the dogs is from the 2005 race. Those dogs might be gone, or at least no longer racing for sure.
Any decision on Cubbins? How is your brother doing, Amalia? Does he know you have Cubbins/Rat?
9:35 am on November 20th, 2014
Interesting article.
I’ll check out the Google Doodle.
Good morning all.
9:39 am on November 20th, 2014
Turning off the computer for packing. Travel day today. Here’s hoping
there ae are no cat fights on the way.

What an interesting story up top! Thanks, Spence.
Message to Alice: Great Kat do I empathize with you and the
kittens situation! What on earth is your staff thinking? This same thing happened to moi long, long ago. Maybe a story for another day.
Herbs: Yours is a different scenario…Callie and Cubkat could be a team.
HOH: Maybe not exactly toasty, but warmer. Tomorrow the rain begins.
Have a good day everyone.
9:44 am on November 20th, 2014
P.S.
MPM: Your foto skills are much improving these days.
9:44 am on November 20th, 2014
Morning all.
We are so concerned about the Buffaloians who are being hit with this massive system. Nature is once again reminding us that mere humans are simply NOT in charge.
Gramp wants(or needs) to keep Cubbins. We will bring him home and see how Basil and Sage react. We do have good, indoor, loving alternatives if it can’t work. We have told brother that the kitty is safe. Not sure if he can hear us, but we have told him.
9:57 am on November 20th, 2014
Mornin’! Good luck with Cubbins. It is never easy to introduce new cats into a household. Sometimes it works. Often, it does not. But we do understand that Gramps need him.
Our aunt is in that area with all the snow.
Haven’t read the article yet, but we are looking forward to it.
Safe trip, Staff!

OMD! Here are some fantastic photos of the snow south of Buffalo. How do you survive thru this?

10:15 am on November 20th, 2014
O’Howlers, your poor aunt. The picture I posted this morning of the new Lake effect storm is ominous at the least. It also is supposed to dump anywhere from 1 to 3 feet of snow on the areas that have already had maybe 100 inches. It all depends on when the storm starts to move south to ski country.
10:21 am on November 20th, 2014
There has been an eighth death. This one was from snow blowing.
BJ’s roof is caving in.
10:27 am on November 20th, 2014
When the National Guard arrived, one of their Humvees got stuck in the snow.
10:32 am on November 20th, 2014
Oh my dog. This Buffalo thing is so scary. Prayers for everyone’s friends and relatives in that area. Especially for MPM and family.
10:35 am on November 20th, 2014
MPM: 100 inches and more on the way…this is beyond comprehension, and when the Humvees get stuck you know it is bad.
BJ?
10:35 am on November 20th, 2014
MPM, is BJ your aunt?
10:36 am on November 20th, 2014
Sammy’s mom?
10:56 am on November 20th, 2014
Looked at the Buffalo are fotos. Incredible to say the least. Wish they could send a little here. We have bare ground.
Tried to go back in and read more of the article on sled dogs, and now can see only half of the article. What’s up with that?
Ben (Kelly’s 8 year old), is going to spend the night tomorrow. They are taking older sister to a Hunter Hayes concert, and shopping while they wait for her. Bee, he is a C & W entertainer. Ben has requested that I take him to a movie. He wants to see Dumb and Bumber To. Guess I will have to suck it up. Yuck!
11:00 am on November 20th, 2014
OH, oh my dog! Those fotos are amazing and glad we are here. That is some scary stuff!
11:30 am on November 20th, 2014
It is warmer in Anchorage than in Niles, MI. Does bode well?
11:48 am on November 20th, 2014
BJ’s is like Sam’s Club, a big warehouse store. There are now more reports of roof collapses.
11:54 am on November 20th, 2014
Masquers: BJ’s is a national wholesale club. One applies for a membership card, and then you can purchase items for a little less money than, say, you went to a place like Best Buy or Home Depot.
11:55 am on November 20th, 2014
MPM: I am very worried about you and the rest of the folks up there. I have never seen anything like this.
11:59 am on November 20th, 2014
Bear and Rio: I still have the five “new” episodes of Gilmore Girls to watch. Poet in New York is about Dylan Thomas. I haven’t watched it yet. (Too many things to watch! Never thought I’d say that about television shows.)
Barb: Thank you for letting me know who Hunter Hayes is.
The photos of the Buffalo blizzard are scary. On the Weather Channel we have a warning about “brief bursts of heavy snow.” Right now the sun is out.
12:16 pm on November 20th, 2014
Article!…That article was written in 2010…grunt!…I wonder what they have discovered since then? I personally do not want to be able to run 22 miles a day – nope….wheeze!
12:31 pm on November 20th, 2014
Mom saw a special that included Hunter Hayes before the awards show the other night. He is quite a talented entertainer. He can play 16 different instruments and started when he was a toddler.
12:49 pm on November 20th, 2014
This morning Gov. Cuomo was on television appealing to people not to drive during the driving ban. People are driving and getting stuck and abandoning their cars. Then the street can’t be plowed until the car is towed away. So I think the revenge will come once this clears up and all these people can’t find their cars. Ha! Good luck!
1:06 pm on November 20th, 2014
Didn’t people do the same thing in PA? Refuse to stay home and then leave their cars when they were stranded?
MPM, When are you supposed to move to the new place?
1:07 pm on November 20th, 2014
130 nursing home patients are being evacuated due to a roof that might collapse. Buildings with flat roofs are now a concern.
1:11 pm on November 20th, 2014
Barb, my move is Dec. 1st. I need time for all this to get cleaned up and for me to get back on real food. A lot can happen in a week-and-a-half.
1:30 pm on November 20th, 2014
MollysMaw!…I can send my dry kibble to you if that would help…snort!
1:32 pm on November 20th, 2014
Jerky!…My friend says she is going on the hunt for some reasonably priced beef jerkey this weekend – we are gearing up for the “Feed The Giant” program coming sometime in the future…heh!heh!…I could send you some beefy jerky if you would rather have that…snuffle!
1:37 pm on November 20th, 2014
Snow!…No wander people are dying from shoveling…wheeze!
2:15 pm on November 20th, 2014
Thanks for posting the interesting article on the Iditarod dogs, Spence.
All that snow is beyond belief. I can understand the concern about roofs collapsing.
2:30 pm on November 20th, 2014
There was another death – someone needed urgent care and didn’t get there on time. Just awful.
3:37 pm on November 20th, 2014
This is truly the storm of the century. The pictures are unbelievable.
How is Sammie’s family doing?
Thanks for the explanation about BJ’s.
The go-to store around here is Costco, a big warehouse store, which has groceries in bulk, electronics, clothes, books, whatever your heart desires. Only members can shop there.
Looking at Riö’s foto, is it any wonder that people are having heart attacks shoveling snow.
4:04 pm on November 20th, 2014
Two more deaths reported – from exposure.
4:08 pm on November 20th, 2014
They had mental health issues and were outdoors overnight. That brings the count to10.
4:16 pm on November 20th, 2014
The Snow. Yeep! It’s like being in an Avalanche.
Back from Shopping and Wonderfluffing…Looking and Feeling Brand New. Nice to get an Early Morning Start…although…that biting wind coming off the water is just a tad Chilly for my taste.
B: I Love the Corita Kent Love Stamp. It’s one of our Favorites.
Next it’s time to Sample the recently Stocked Pantry. After that…maybe a nap.
4:42 pm on November 20th, 2014
What!?
Staff is on her way?
I gotta get out of the “best” bedroom STAT and clean it up so she doesn’t know I was in there. Sheesh! They weren’t due until tomorrow or the next day.
4:58 pm on November 20th, 2014
Rio made a surprise visit to Auction Central when our Lady was busy oiling and swearing at our new-to-us bid tracking machine. Luna was busy at her clipboard. The order of hotwings, kawfee, beer and nachos aren’t scheduled to arrive until next week. Luckily, our Lady had just stocked the emergency stash of Slim Jims. A near disaster was adverted.
Our Lady took Beau on a tour of the boutique. He offered to help watch the paint dry with his eyes closed. Luckily, she just finished sewing a dog pillow for the boutiques napping isle.
4:59 pm on November 20th, 2014
When Rio made his surprise visit to AC, we were also very busy with auction related things. It’s all paws on deck here.
5:11 pm on November 20th, 2014
Buuuurrrrppp!….Awwww, Auction House – looking brand new and a little sparkly…grunt!
5:14 pm on November 20th, 2014
Reminder!….If you are running a tip-tad late on sending in your Items for either the Auction or the Boutique, do not feel bad….snort!…I bet you are not alone. I bet there are others out there who are running late. So try as you may, try as you might and get all yer Items sent in via SDD to Snowhook ASAP…chuffle!…Every little thing is very much appreciated. Pass me another Slim-Down Jim…burp!
5:21 pm on November 20th, 2014
Rio: We had nothing to do with the sparkly state of the Auction House. That is all Belle Starr. We did have everything to do with making sure the vat ‘o beer was pug worthy. Come on in, the beer is fine.
5:26 pm on November 20th, 2014
Vat!….You don’t have to ask me twice or even once!…snort!…SPPLAAASSSSHH!
5:32 pm on November 20th, 2014
Rio: Is the swimming cap on your curly tail necessary?
5:40 pm on November 20th, 2014
Youse at Auction Central are making me laugh!
R.I.P. Mike Nichols.
5:46 pm on November 20th, 2014
Rio – Mama finally got her act together and her camera out the same day. So tonight, she will be sending her pics and descriptions to Luna.
The baby kitty is home from the v e t. Gilly is pretty interested in playing with him. I, Tupper am ignoring the little interloper. Sage is staying right next to the carrier, sniffling and watching. The kitten is sound asleep, and doesn’t seem the least bit concerned about all that has happened to him.
We are still deciding on names. Maybe Chili Pepper….
hmmm, still thinking…..
6:20 pm on November 20th, 2014
What happened to Cubbins? I like that name!
6:27 pm on November 20th, 2014
We understand the need for a swimming cap. Some days you don’t want your tail to muss. But, what we question is the need for the plastic daisies on the swimming cap.
6:38 pm on November 20th, 2014
I like Cubbins too.
6:44 pm on November 20th, 2014
Theives!…This is no shower cap!…grunt!….It is a left-over balloon from the last Auction Central Celebration – must have got caught on my tail…snort!
6:46 pm on November 20th, 2014
Kubbins!…Keep the Kubbins…heh!…I can have fun with a Kat called Kubbins…snort!
7:04 pm on November 20th, 2014
Some good news finally: the snow band has started to slowly move to the south. It is expected to be in ski country overnight.
7:04 pm on November 20th, 2014
Royals: Have you thought about changing Rat’s name to Bellestarriswonderful? It rolls off the tongue.
7:17 pm on November 20th, 2014
Chili Pepper sounds like a bright orangy, almost red tabby. We vote for Cubbins
7:22 pm on November 20th, 2014
Hit submit too soon. Wanted to add that Pepper sounds like a black kitty.
Tonight is our favorite t v night, so we will be mostly missing. Bones, then Gracepoint, then Parenthood. We will be in viewing heaven tonight.
7:24 pm on November 20th, 2014
Belle Starr, Yes, you are wonderful! Please make sure my items at Auction Central have enough sparkles to catch the eye….
7:24 pm on November 20th, 2014
I love the name Cubbins!
7:25 pm on November 20th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Awww Don’t Change CubKat’s Name! We like it too.
The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins by Dr. Seuss. It just seems to fit him.
Wose: Oh, no! Mike Nichols. Poor Diane Sawyer.
7:53 pm on November 20th, 2014
hi guys, I made it to the cities and Dawson and the Turtleman were trying to teach me Cribbage.
do not get your hopes up Digger.
7:53 pm on November 20th, 2014
Bear, The news report said the couple had been married for 26 years!
8:55 pm on November 20th, 2014
Dawson, all there is is hope for those who play cribbage (Mom has been practicing).
Snow is scary.
A sparkly bowl of beer at a boutique is scary.
Rat/Kat vs Cubbins, not so scary.
Mom was gone ALL day doing something “secret”. Harumph!
The DDD does not feed us enough so we begged from the boarder in the basement and he….gave us a second dinner! Life is good 🙂
9:33 pm on November 20th, 2014
Nighty night.
9:35 pm on November 20th, 2014
How about “Chubbins” since with Gramp wanting the kitty, it will be one pampered and possibly overfed kat.
One of my little ones ate, burped and had the hiccups. Too cute. I’ve finally figured out how to snip the tips of their claws. Much harder to do with long-haired cats. Think I just have 3 kitties to go. I cringed when they start clawing my chairs. They have all become little escape artists and have become big enough that I can just hold 3 at a time.
9:38 pm on November 20th, 2014
We would like to report that CUBBINS now has a full tummy and a silly grin on his face. Seems he figured out he has the system beat, and has a good, warm, forever home. And CubKat he will stay. Thanks for the input.
9:42 pm on November 20th, 2014
T&G, Good news indeed about the “CubKat”.
9:47 pm on November 20th, 2014
Tupper&Gilly, Thank You for the Happy News!!!
Hurray!! It’s Official! Bartholomew Cubbins, affectionately known as CubKat, has now been added to the List of Plunderers and said photo has been placed into the Plunderer Photo Box.
9:58 pm on November 20th, 2014
Golinka!…Does Kubbins type?…sniff!
10:07 pm on November 20th, 2014
You have already been FOD. It is only fitting that you are now an official Plunderer and part of this here blog.
Welcome Cubkat!
Riö: Of course he can type. Did you seen those paws?
10:09 pm on November 20th, 2014
GAH! NOT “did you seen”…I meant “have you seen”
10:16 pm on November 20th, 2014
Maskers!…You need a typing lesson…grunt!
10:19 pm on November 20th, 2014
or…”did you see”…….
Carpola. It’s time to say goodnight.
10:33 pm on November 20th, 2014
Parenthood!…I am a big fan of Lauren Graham the actress, she is one of the characters in Gilmore Girls – one could argue she is the Main Character, but there are so many good characters in that series it is always arguable…heh!…Anyway my point being I started watching “Parenthood” years ago because Lauren Graham was one of the Main Characters…snort!…MagPie reminded me that the New Last Season is on right now…Zow!…Do I have a lot of catching up to do?…snort!…This is a top-notch tear jerking, laugh-out-loud series for those of youse who have over-looked it all these years…sob!…MagPie, we are watching you-know-who going into heart surgery tonight…Sob!
11:15 pm on November 20th, 2014
Stover!…Can you explain the “new” prodigy in Elementary? Who is she in regards to the original Sherlock Holmes?…sniff!…I’m growing fonder of her character but I don’t know who she is…grunt!
11:24 pm on November 20th, 2014
A white van just pulled up at the loading dock of the Auction House. The Storyteller got out. He made a special delivery complete with a great cover story that the Thieves plan to use of in the future.
11:56 pm on November 20th, 2014
we will have to wait to see if the CubKat learns to type. He is only a baby you know. But a unique feature is that he is polydactyl on one front paw, but not on the other. Hmmmm. Might make for some interesting otter corks.
Whew – glad to hear that the Storyteller got there in good time. But he forgot half the load – we will have to blur into Auction Central ourselves tomorrow. Hope his cover story will cover our wiggly butts too.
G’night all
