As Promised: Spitting (From Dog On It)

The expression on Myron’s face changed; he looked liked he’d chewed on a lemon. I’d tried that once. “Good luck to you,” he said.

“Oh?” said Bernie.

“You’ll need it, if that’s your model.”

“Something wrong with Pinnacle Peak Homes at Puma Wells?” Suzie said.

Myron turned away and made a spitting sound with his mouth, although no spit came out. Spitting was something I liked a lot, could have made good use of myself, but dry spitting made no sense to me.

“Care to expand on that?” Bernie said.

Welcome Rowan, Kylie, Sam the border collie, Sam (?) and friend, en route.

    The Tail of Two Snowstorms!

First we are OKAY! The power went out up here in the hills for about 2 seconds but it knocked out the internet until this morning. We have two feet of snow, but it’s light snow. It must have been colder up here than in the Valley where T&G live.

Second, T&G are with out power. In fact their whole area is without telephone and electricity. They were sitting with candlelight when the house “trembled, there was a large crack” and their neighbor’s tree hit the house. Their roof is now punctured. Trees and lines down everywhere. they got 10 inches of very heavy WET snow.
They have dug themselves out, but there is nowhere to go. No business are open that serve coffee! They are starting the gas grill to cook some up. She has promised to keep me informed. The only phone working is her iPhone and it uses up a lot of charge to go on the internet.

The Pack is having a BLAST! They are forging trails in the snow, having snow fights, and have gotten huge snow bells on their feathers. Zoe has picked up the poop before it sank, I dug out the Honda and drove it 20 feet over 2 feet of snow into the street! Love that car.

Pictures will come. I remember early reading the posts and thinking I must comment on that . . . Brain dead at this point!

Melanie, At least the damage is covered by home owner’s insurance (theirs, not their neighbor’s.)There is coverage for the roof, plus labor to remove tree from roof if it is laying on the house, subject to policy deductible.

    GoodMorning All:

It was mighty snowy here in our part of Westchester, but fortunately wehave power! T&G: Hope you are all safe and that power is restored soon.

The Prof and I went out yesterday afternoon, and saw many fallen branches. One actually fell as we were driving, and almost hit a truck.

Everyone be safe. Siber, SiberH:I’m glad the girls had a great time.

That little dark green corner of n.w. Illinois is where we live. That means rain, which is what is currently happening. Looks like it could pass in 3 hours for O.H. We are still so much better off than others!

    B. – I think the timestamp being one hour behind is that the server our blog is on hasn’t updated that part of the software. It needs a new time-change app – but I don’t remember that this happened last year. Hasn’t it been about 3 years that we have the new dates for the time changes?

Hello Plunderers! My wonderful grandma Chris has left. I loved all the sluggles, pats and tummies. Can’t wait until she comes back. Mom has been busy this morning. She packed up cookies, half a chocolate cake and some yardsale cookbooks for grandma to take to Grand Rapids. Mom used the carpet cleaning machine where I’ve left some unspoken messages on the carpet, and she cleaned the chair where she sits in and I sit on the arm. Grandma is taking the carpet maching back with her ’cause even though it belongs to my mom, it gets used by the entire family. Mom is going to do laundry today and maybe cook some more. All she’s done is cook since she came back from her trip. I don’t mind cleaning the kitchen floor at all. I didn’t mind the chocolate cake crumbs and the crust from the pumpkin pie, but the celery, onion, garlic, and carrot she can clean up herself.

B&M: Forecat of snow for upper WI & Minnesota. Happy to hear you are only getting rain.
Melanie: Thanks for checking in and reporting on the Royals & family too. Thank God no one was hurt when the tree hit the house. Wish they had a generator. It can get mighty cold at night with the temps dipping below freezing.
B: Yes, VERY strange the Weather Channel, of all things, went out. The Blog-time being what it is-now showing only two hours difference now between East & West Coast.

I suspect My Fellow Sibers may really be snowed in.

Hey you guys! That is great! a link to the very first post. I’ll read it in a minute as soon as I get myself relocated. I just Time Traveled Back in Time to February 9, 2010. At that point Cosmo was still posting (whatever happened to him?) and Rio apparently had been top-dog for some time as he was being referred to as Commander. Someone called Wookie – WoJo. Lots of posts didn’t have avatars, including Rio and Melanie. There’s talk of missions and just discovering the relationship between SQ and PA. Still not much information on Spence. He had just done an interview that Cosmo is reporting on. There wss G&BooBear, MollyPop, Alice, Abbie, Siber-H (known then as Siber Husky) and some we didn’t know at all. What a trip!

Bear- Yeah we are fostering her. She does really well with Brewski. Though as long as a dog is willing to play Brewski gets along with them. She is ok with our cats. She is interested in them but is learning boundaries. Not sure what her mix is vet said possible terrier but nothing directly. He thinks both her parents were mutts, but we found her in Memphis which has really poor spay neuter laws and it is very stigmatized here. The neighborhood kids like her too. She’s pretty great, but now is not a good time for a second dog.

We are back, and the turnout for the O.H. was disappointing – only 3 groups came. One group was here for an hour, which is good, but we were hoping for more people, since it was advertised in the papers and was on the radio.

See that you have been discussing the early days of the blog. It seems like most of the regulars have been here for a long time. Cosmo and Lexi used to post a lot and are gone now, anyone else? Catty Librarian posted but not a lot. I think her 2 sisters talked her into it for awhile. She was quite entertaining, and Rio used to spar with her quite a bit.

Wheeze!…. I am so very happy that Melanie and her Gang is okay…whew!… Now, I can worry only about the Golinka and her Clan….snort!….We’ve been terribly busy today working on the MMCS Project…heh!…I have been a huge help all day long, let me tell you…snuffle!sneeze!….At one point I helped her lose a very important piece she’d been working on forever and then I blew away all the pieces for 3 cards in one wheezy wuffle!…heh!….I tell you guys, we have been having some fun today!…snort!

Decisions! ….All of the little gift cards are made that she is going to offer up initially on the MMCS….snort!….Just a while ago her and I tried like hell to get a good photo that would be representative of the quality of the cards and the little antique looking boxes she found to package them in…sniff!… It was not easy let me tell you. Finally it came down to a minimalist approach because when too many cards are displayed it looks messy…sniff!…She doesn’t want a messy photo of all her work….grunt!….Anyways, she will be sending one or two photos to Melanie to “fix” if need be….wheeze!

Bear, I agree with Barb…most of us are pretty well settled in here now. In addition to the two Barb mentioned, I remember Diane and Rebecca. I have read the blog from the beginning, but those other names are unfamiliar to me now.
    Newcomers are always welcome here.

When Dawson first joined us, she and Rio used to wind each other up something fierce. It was hilarious.

Just heard from the Royals, their street has been very hard hit by the trees falling. The transformer down the street was hit by a tree and destroyed. Live wire melted part of their street. Sounds like 3 to 7 days without power. She will not be going back to CLL until their power is back on. All the hard lines (telephone) are down.

It’s going to be a two Corgi and two Kat night! Down below 20 degrees tonight. Tomorrow starts to warm up and get into the 50’s later this week.

They inspected the tree on the roof. Luckily, though the roof was hit, it did not go into her father’s room. They have coffee and hot water! Those are the most important. One grocery store is open selling dry goods and only takes cash because their machines aren’t working.

Mum says please send warm air and thoughts of electricity their way. I have told them there are hot showers here when they need them.

Rio, How many cards will be in a box?

Hope T & G and their gang are doing OK.

When we came on this time, there was a picture of me on the left, and Ryker Chet on the right. Imagine that – 2 English Shepherds! We know he is ES because there was an aricle about him being adopted in our ES magazine last year. The lady who adopted him said she named him after our Chet the Jet.

Melanie: We here are worried about the Royals and family staying warm. If they have propane hopefully they also have a heat source. It gets so cold at night. That is a long time to go without power!
We are sending warm thoughts their way and pray the power comes on soon. What about you? How is everyone at your house doing?

    Evening all:

Here in Croton on Hudson, lots of downed trees. The Prof and I went out to do food shopping. The roads are clear, but there is still substantial snow left on properties, and along the sides of the road and highways.

The news said the commuter train, Metro North service is out between Grand Central and White Plains. Sheesh! A lot of people may not be getting to work tomorrow.

    Melanie: Love the Newf photos.

Masquers and B: Thanks for your concern. Masquers, I could not open your picture. :(

T&G: I hope your power is restored soon, and that you will all be safe.

Hey Rose, The Harlem line is closed too. I know that because the ME nephew was visiting YSAS and couldn’t get home today! It was trees all up and down the line to Wassaic. He found a friend who was coming back from Philli and that guy came and picked him up and YSAS’s apartment. Thank Dog!

We are fine here. Jesse dug us out the rest of the way. The Pack had a blast and is very tired.

Hello all. We’ve been trying to post all day, but our WIFI has been out and the G3 in the iPad is a very weak connection inside our house.

Poor T&G are without power? Most of our friends and neighbors are too. We were very lucky here, altho it was nip and tuck for awhile. Mom made a pork roast while the power kept going off and on yesterday. She had to keep resetting the oven.

I haven’t received a SDD from you, but I’ve received a lot of great pictures and descriptions today.

As far as Junior, I would post a photo if he’d stay still long enough. He is a happy, happy dog. Training with the A team, serving as comic relief for his mates and begging, nay demanding ear scratches. He has made himself quite at home in the kennel.
