ARF: Sneak Peek 2
“Hey, Junior,” Birdie said, as we walked onto the bridge.
“Hey,” said Junior Tebbets, jiggling his bamboo pole.
“You fish without a reel?” Birdie said.
“Why not?”
“Catching anything?”
“Nope.”
“What’re you fishing for?”
“Catfish.”
“What bait?”
Junior peered over the railing. His line hung straight down, disappeared into the water. “Mouse.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Dead mouse,” Junior said.
“You’re using a dead mouse for bait?”
“Like, wouldn’t it be kind of cruel to hook ‘em live?” Junior said. “Found this one under the truck when my dad drove away.”
“Under the food truck?” Birdie said.
“Scooped it right up. Everyone knows catfish go for stinky things.”
“Then everyone knows wrong,” Birdie said. “Shiners is what they like.”
“Shiners?” Junior jiggled the pole. That made tiny waves down in the bayou, but no fish appeared.

But we are looking forward to ARF!

Food Truck!…My friend said there were many food trucks parked near the busy-place yesterday…snort!…She opted for the ice cream truck as the cleanliness of the insides of food trucks is always questionable…grunt!

HOH, I actually understand your jokes today!
Happy Earth Day. In honor, I started all my squash pots this morning – 26 in all.
My friend Kim just told me that Peaches may become a mother. She is setting for the first time ever. She has two eggs (not her own) so hope at least one will hatch. She layed a few eggs of her own, but Kim had to remove them as they would not be fertile. Peaches has taken a life long pledge of chastity.
4:54 pm on April 22nd, 2016
Nice news about Peaches.
Barb, you may not understand this one…

Well, this has turned out to be a horrible day. Mom came home from work and somebody or more than one person had broken into her house. They broke the glass out of the door in the master bedroom and ransacked her bedroom, bathroom and closet. Today Mom had gone more casual to work and didn’t wear her large solitaire diamond that dad had given to her on their 10th anniversary, the diamond drop necklace that had the original diamond from their engagement and the diamond tennis bracelet that was Dad’ s gift to her on their 25th anniversary. All gone. Also gone is more casual jewelry (cuff bracelets, pocket knife Mom gave Dad years ago, the friendship tree bracelet Mom won in the most recent Snowhook auction, the bracelet Wose sent Mom after Dad died). Why didn’t she lock all that up in the safe. Although they tried to steal the gun safe too but couldn’t get it out of the closet. Also gone, her sense of safety in her own home.
She is very proud of all of us. None of us tried to get out of the house through the broken door. At least we were all here and very glad to see her when she got home.
11:09 pm on April 22nd, 2016
Oh BooBear – oh nooooooooo. We are so very sorry that this happened to you.
We are sure that if your mom had to choose between you and the diamonds, she would rather have all of you safe and sound. We hope the police find clues, and find the crooks. And the rocks.
Pawrayers for all of you to sleep tonight
11:13 pm on April 22nd, 2016
It’s just that the jewelry pieces were gifts from Dad and that can’t be repeated. She won’t ever get gifts from him again.
11:23 pm on April 22nd, 2016
BooBear’s maw: You, yours and your heart are tucked under the Quilt. The team is getting ready to blur to your place to provide extra protection. Head bumps to you.
11:32 pm on April 22nd, 2016
BooBear …sigh…we know. We are so sad for you all.
11:35 pm on April 22nd, 2016
That is absolutely horrible!!! I am so sorry this happened to you. Sometimes I think that people are slime. Or at least, some are. Where’s Chet?
Grrrrr….
11:37 pm on April 22nd, 2016
BooBear: How terrible! And sad about the missing gifts from Dad. I hope they catch the bad guys and get everything back. I’m thankful that dog and the cats are all okay. Maybe a neighbor saw something.
11:40 pm on April 22nd, 2016
Wolfie here. Whoops, that was mom hijacking my avatar. So rude!
But what I wanted to say is that what is precious is the love that you two shared. I have it on the best authority.
And I too am blurring over to offer protection. This is my first attempt since I crossed OVER. Here goes nothing!!!
12:02 am on April 23rd, 2016
BooBear: my heart aches for your mom. Does she live in a small enough community to do a public appeal? Your Dad was probably known by many people and sometimes a sympathetic appeal will bring out clues. If police think local break ins might be teenagers, check with the high school. Teens cannot keep secrets and a teacher can overhear things. What are police advising? Do they monitor pawn shops, antique malls, jewelry stores, Craigslist, etc or is it up to you to do it? Would the pieces be immediately taken to a larger city to be sold?
I will be thinking of you and will pray for resolution.
2:20 am on April 23rd, 2016
So sorry, Boo.
7:19 am on April 23rd, 2016
BooBear – head bumps to you and your mom. Also praying for resolution and that she can feel safe again. I’m sad with her.
7:38 am on April 23rd, 2016
Boo, so sad. We are sorry. I think Hobbit has some good advice. Pawn shops are a good bet. If there are any nearby I would visit them. Have the police mentioned any other break-ins in your area? If so, it could be a group that is working together.
And, of course, call your insurance company.
7:38 am on April 23rd, 2016
Oh, BooBear. Oh BooBear. We are so upset to read your news, we have nothing to say.
Please dear Dog let them find the evil people that did this. Do you think it is someone who knew about your jewelry?
8:26 am on April 23rd, 2016
Thefts of this type are often done by someone who knows you and has been in your home. Also knows you are gone during the day.
Have you had any service people in lately, or (sorry to say this) any one questionable who attended the shower – someone you had an uneasy feeling about?
I have seen a few claims over the years, where it was friends of the insured’s kids. The fact that a door was broken does not sound like a pro.
I am glad no animals were harmed. My mom had a break-in one time, and her poor dog was very tramatized.
8:37 am on April 23rd, 2016
BooBear, our mom’s heart goes out to you. No one can say they know how you feel but know this, mom had a house burglary once with animals in the house and thank dog the animals weren’t harmed like your place. She does understand the sense of violation and the loss and grief. The HOH will keep you in our prayers.
8:48 am on April 23rd, 2016
Yes, anger, felling of violation and grief are all going to be there.
