Sigh. They could at least get the apostrophe “s” for the contraction in “Dog’s” correct. No wonder students make these kinds of errors. I need a cup of coffee.
Good morning all.
8:44 am on May 20th, 2013
Thanks for telling us about that app! We emailed Mom and she downloaded it for us. Sounds cool, but it will take awhile until there are enough of our guys on it here in PA.
Good morning!
8:50 am on May 20th, 2013
To me an app is something you eat. Delish.
Leroy is absolutely lovable looking and at the Friends of Chet there is another dog from down under, a cute pug, a Siber and a Corgi (it might not be a Corgi), Spanky, Yorkie, One-eyed Jack, Chewbacca (who doesn’t look like Wookie) and Boris’s Natasha. Chet has the best friends ever!
Nighty Noodle to Liz.
9:34 am on May 20th, 2013
Yeah, yeah – Leroy is just freakin’ adorable. For a dawg.
Staff – we would like to come hang out at your house. The buffet sounds delicious.
9:40 am on May 20th, 2013
heh heh heh! Good one,Herbs!
9:40 am on May 20th, 2013
Greetings All!
Another Monday morning back at the salt mines.
Siber-H: An envelope for you and your mom will be posted with today’s mail. Hope no stinking MGs try to get near it.
10:11 am on May 20th, 2013
Rose!…Check your SDD and you just reminded me about a trip we need to make to the post office…snort!
10:17 am on May 20th, 2013
Good mornig all. Barb is back from St.Louis. Quick trip but fun. Good food, wine, visiting but way too much shopping for Barb. There were 9 girls/women and one toddler involved. Barb was the only non-shopper in the group so she had to suck it up and endure for a couple of hours. The new fiance/baby mama, Heather, was very sweet and Barb thinks Scott will be very happy in his marriage. He will be 36 in July, so ’bout time.
Did we miss anything really important this weekend? Haven’t gotten a chance to read up yet. Is everyone feeling well? Anything new with Amalia’s knee?
10:35 am on May 20th, 2013
RIO! Checked and responded!
10:42 am on May 20th, 2013
Leroy, my dog, you are one sweet looking dog!
About that app. “Mark their territory”? Snicker . . I have mind pictures of a virtual dog marking his territory in the usual manner. snicker
Anyhoo . . Grace does not need surgery any longer. Those poultices (onions first, now using willow) and epson salt soaks are working. Hurrah!
We are now the proud owners of a sawzall. Zoë is a little worried about me having one.
Hmm. I don’t think that wall is weight bearing, and I want a door right there.I’ll be back later, just want to try something.10:55 am on May 20th, 2013
Hi Leroy!
Welcome Back Barb&Magpie! Trying to remember if you missed anything, but if it was more than two days well……..
Staff: Please check your SDD after you have fed the Flock. Heh.
HerbKats: Yes. How IS your Mama’s knee?
Melanie: That is Very Encouraging News from the v-e-t. The poultices worked!
Have fun with your new Sawzall.
11:02 am on May 20th, 2013
Nope, I am not doing any social networking.
All of us think Leroy is a cutie.
Rose, Thank you, Mom and I will be watching for the envelope and I will head the MG’s off at the pass. I might do more to them than just heading them off at the pass. (Mom says I watch too many old western movies)
Rio, We are in agreement with you on the bird thing. We do not want to hear them at 4:30 in the morning.
Melanie, Very good news about Gracie’s paw!
11:19 am on May 20th, 2013
SIber-H, I am confident that nary a hoof mark will be on that envelope with you on the job.
11:20 am on May 20th, 2013
I heard a rumor…..
11:20 am on May 20th, 2013
I’m concerned that Melanie is going to have too much fun with her new sawzall.
11:27 am on May 20th, 2013
I’ve never seen a Baltimore Oriole (the bird not the players) in person. They were named after Lord Baltimore of England whose heraldic crest is orange and black. Baltimore, Maryland was also named after the family.
11:41 am on May 20th, 2013
Bee, We were luck enough to have a nesting pair of Baltimore Orioles out in the country last year. The male (not sure about the female) has a beautiful voice. The nested in a tree right by our driveway and it hung down from the branches so we had a good view of it. Barb was a little concerned about the winds out there, but the nest held up with no problems. Some of the Robin nests did not do so well.
Barb’s daughter Shannon got a bird feeder for Christmas and she has it right outside her sliding door at her apartment. She is developing quite an interest in identifying the different birds, so Barb ordered her the Ill field guide that she loves. Came while we were gone (along with Robbie) so she was able to take it home with her last night. She also has had a squirrel, Malard duck and bunny at her feeder.
11:42 am on May 20th, 2013
…..That the Spring Boutique.
11:48 am on May 20th, 2013
Howlers: The sun is out! Keeping paws crossed that it will stay that way.
Riö: Just think of it as your own special avian alarm clock.
When Mom lived in So. California some of them apparently got their wires crossed, chirping during the night instead of day. This went on until one night we heard loud cursing right before a gunshot, then dead silence. Yeep!
Rose: You do have a holiday weekend coming up to look forward to!
11:59 am on May 20th, 2013
****************ATTENTION****************************************
I have been asked to make the following announcement: The Spring Boutique is scheduled to open its door to the public on June 15.
So youse guys who have items you want to donate, please photograph the item, write up a brief description and the asking price of said item. Send the photograph to photographer extraorinaire Melanie, and she will return it to you. Send the edited photo and item decription via SDD to Snowhook ASAP….June 15th is less than a month away. Let’s try and make it count for Snowhook!!
Again I thank you all for your generosity.
12:03 pm on May 20th, 2013
WOO WOO for the Spring Boutique!!
I found Mom’s credit card!
Masquers, I am laughing about the gunshot, but mom says you are giving me and Rio ideas.
We need to hear from Sharon…that she is okay
12:09 pm on May 20th, 2013
Barb: The Oriole’s nest is fascinating. Perhaps Shannon can get some photos…although that can be very difficult.
12:09 pm on May 20th, 2013
Maskers!…heh!snort!heh!
12:13 pm on May 20th, 2013
Resemblance!….I don’t know why but that guy up top in todays post reminds me of a goat every time I see him…grunt!
12:16 pm on May 20th, 2013
Masquers, they are calling for rain on the wedding day. Hopefully it will end before the evening wedding.
12:19 pm on May 20th, 2013
Mom keeps bedroom windows open overnight so she can be woken by pretty bird songs instead of that blasted alarm clock.
12:19 pm on May 20th, 2013
Masquers, yes I am looking very forward to snuggling under the Rose quilt with a good book and some long naps.
12:21 pm on May 20th, 2013
EVERYONE! Make sure you get photos in well before June 15th! WEDDING of my NIECE is that day. Sniff.
Hi Barb and Magpie! Glad you had a good time.
B.Stover, The good news is that the hole in the wall went without a hitch. Though I did forget that I’m allergic to all the dust.
Bad news is about Golinka. She is just back from the doc. MRI says . . Surgery!
She will be talking to the surgeon tomorrow. Right now she is back with the Dancing Giraffe Dudes.
12:45 pm on May 20th, 2013
Carpola! Who will take care of Golinka and the Storyteller and Gramps?
12:54 pm on May 20th, 2013
First the Storyteller, and now the Royal Mum? GAH!
12:57 pm on May 20th, 2013
O’Howlers, I think the dogs will have to step up. I don’t see The Herbs being much help at all.
We tried a new place for the walk/run today. The neighbors down the street have moved, but no one has bought the house. Part of their 11 acres is on our river. Lots of space to run (they had horses), old manure to roll in, and the river. What could be better? You tell me.
Turns out that Frank and Mac are a bit like Ferdinand the bull. Though instead of smelling the flowers, they eat the dandilion flowers!
Mattie went walkabout. They all went swimming in our very clean river. We are now resting.
1:23 pm on May 20th, 2013
Amalia will need the same surgery Barb had?
Gah, This is not a good time. double Gah
1:24 pm on May 20th, 2013
Golinka! Oh, no and just when the Storyteller got rid of his cane.
Wose: Thanks for the heads up on the Spring Bouquet date.
Sigh. More appointments.
So until tomorrow…Keep Smiling – Bear
1:37 pm on May 20th, 2013
Timing!…Oh no!…snuffle!…Isn’t this Golinka’s busy season for making and selling her artwork?…sob!sob!sob!
2:14 pm on May 20th, 2013
I bet she will need repair surgery and not total replacement. Maybe she tore the maniscus – no idea how to spell that word.
2:44 pm on May 20th, 2013
Speaking of tweets. In the town we lived in above Boston there was were birds nesting in a tree outside my bedroom window.
After being seranaded by at least 15 types of birds I realized it was a Northern Mockingbird pair. This was wonderful until I found out that they sing ALL THE TIME while nesting. Whew. I did not try the shot in the dark though.
And a one and a two . .

RIO! I was just watching you and Pepper on YouTube.
4:13 pm on May 20th, 2013
T&G: Oh no! More surgery on the horizon.
I don’t know about Alaska, but in Northern British Columbia, where it is light most of the night in summer, the birds wake me up at about 3 in the morning. Then I go right back to sleep.
HOH: How’s the spleenless one?
Spring Boutique.
Oh no! Staff is not here to take pictures for me and upload them.
4:26 pm on May 20th, 2013
Plunderers: HOH doesn’t have access to pos laptop and Sharon had a rocky weekend. Still in hopsital:( Haven’t been up to reading so will catch up tonight & tomorrow then try to say something non-giraffe induced.

Rose!…What do you mean? …snort!
5:47 pm on May 20th, 2013
RIO! Heh! Many blogs ago, a link was provided of you and Pepper. Pepper’s tail was wagging, and she was playing with a toy. You were just kinda standing there like the man, being observant.
6:04 pm on May 20th, 2013
Macy, looking at the radar. Are you okay?
6:06 pm on May 20th, 2013
Rose, Riö is NOT on the internet. Wink, wink.
6:10 pm on May 20th, 2013
Whispering – I think Molly’s Mom provided Rose with some inside info on Rio.

Praying for the third graders in Oklahoma caught in he school destroyed by that huge tornado
6:16 pm on May 20th, 2013
Grunt!…I have never been video-taped in my life…grumble!…Not to mention all these photographs some of youse keep talking about…sniff! …Every damn time that kamera comes out I hide big time…wheeze!
6:17 pm on May 20th, 2013
Tornado!…There was a tornado? And it wasn’t in Texas?…wheeze!…Oh my gosh.
6:33 pm on May 20th, 2013
Grump!
I ended up putting out 8 pounds of jelly yesterday. So far today I have put out 4 pounds and it is only noon. Had to refill the sunflower feeders in the rain but the thistle feeders will have to wait until I dry off.
Mr.Staff is digging stuff out of the closet in the spare bedroom. It needs to be cleaned out because it was moused over two years ago. It is the last closet left for cleaning after that horrible event.
I think I will go have lunch while he vacuums. All that dust makes me allergic.
Golinka, I am so sorry to hear about your surgery. I had carpal tunnel surgery in 2004. It was OK and you can’t even tell now. The test to see if you had it was worse than the surgery.
Rose,
I have been warned. I will try to think of something.
Melanie, Have fun and be careful with your Sawzall.
Bear SDD checked and responded. I think
Oops vacuum starting must leave.
Wow I forgot to post this. Hours ago.
6:39 pm on May 20th, 2013
Sharon…Thinking of you. Hope you feel better soon and glad you checked in with us.
6:45 pm on May 20th, 2013
Time!…Is Staff in a Time-Warp?…snort!
6:51 pm on May 20th, 2013
Supper!…So someone here is going out to supper with a neighbor…sniff!…What about us? What do we get for supper…grump!…She says this is one of the nicer neighbors who doesn’t pry into our business…grunt!…I say stay home and watch the game…wheeze!
7:05 pm on May 20th, 2013
My oh my – that tornado in Oklahoma makes us realize how small our problems are. Creator – please guide the rescuers, and give strength and patience to the injured.
The knee thing? All we know so far is that the meniscus is torn in two places, there is a cyst inside the knee, the “anterior horns” have broken off, leaving rough edges, and the knee fluid is leaking out and damaging the cartilage.
In other words, it hurts like blazes.
Won’t know more until tomorrow when the surgeon tells us how much surgery is needed. Hoping for small surgery – but big enough to stop the pain. Ow ow ow ow ow
Time for the giraffes to start warming up in the wings.
7:13 pm on May 20th, 2013
RIO! Please check your SDD when able. sob.
7:15 pm on May 20th, 2013
T&G, Yikes! That sounds like a terrible injury. I hope the Royal Mum is tip-top soon.
7:28 pm on May 20th, 2013
T&G: Let us know what the surgeon says when you can.
7:30 pm on May 20th, 2013
OK, now we know how to spell meniscus. Thought it sounded like that kind of injury. Barb had that about 15 years ago and it does hurt like holy he**. It will snap as the torn meniscus curls up and it feels like a knife is being stabbed into the knee.
Barb finished Don’t Go, and it was really good. Now on to Orphan Trains.
Staff, What do you mean you put out 8 pounds of jelly? You don’t mean that you put out that much at bird feeders do you?
7:33 pm on May 20th, 2013
T&G ditto to what Stover said. It must really hurt. Keep the giraffes dancing.
7:54 pm on May 20th, 2013
Pawsitive thoughts for Sharon and Amalia. Barb’s description sounds a little too familiar for mom. Is it on the inner knee?
Terrible news from OK now that many small lives may be lost. We here are in line for some storms tonight. It could get very cosy in the powder room with mom and dad and all five of us girls. Holly and Biddie’s mom is sick so their overnight stay is into day three.
We will be battening down the b**ches.
7:57 pm on May 20th, 2013
Macy: Strong thoughts coming at you for your safety.
8:08 pm on May 20th, 2013
Stay safe Macy!
8:14 pm on May 20th, 2013
Macy – taxes, doom, gloom, and Wrotten Kats
We are sending you those heavy thoughts to keep you weighted down tonight. Stay safe
And to the rest of you – good night. Except the Dancing Giraffes – to you – Hello!
9:36 pm on May 20th, 2013
Thinking of all of y’all not feeling tiptop! Curl up under the quilt and get better.
9:38 pm on May 20th, 2013
Golinka, we are sorry that you must have surgery but, if you must, then we are hoping for sooner rather than later so you can get free of the pain.
HOH, we hope your mama starts feeling better and can be up and at ’em quickly.
Macy, we wish we could be with you to help hold you down,. Stay safe, girlfriend!
9:44 pm on May 20th, 2013
Rose!…If you are still up, check your SDD…snort!
HOME!…Someone finally got home from her delish supper out…grump!… She says the neighbor she supped with tonight is a true-blue millionaire but does not act like it at all…sniff!… Her late husband left her tons of investments which have done very well…wuffle!…But the woman is so down to earth and so good hearted that it is very wonderful indeed to know people like this still exist. ..heh!…My friend enthralled her with stories from the Iditarod and Snowhook…chuffle!…Who knows, maybe one day she will be a sponsor too…grunt!
10:29 pm on May 20th, 2013
Rio: You planted a seed.
10:42 pm on May 20th, 2013
Riö, just don’t let Beau water the seed.
Sharon, I see you still have not won your missing part back from the
card sharksfriendly under the quilt card players. By this time you might not want that part back (especially if Pancho and Lefty have it). Perhaps you should try to win Snowbella’s pants from Dawson.I have been trying to find the ratio of the more tired I am the longer it takes to gt ready for bed. Sigh. I should never try to do math when I’ tired. My brain is now “pretzeled”. I think I better go to sleep before I hurt myself.

10:43 pm on May 20th, 2013
Rio, She sounds like a new sponser! Also a nice person. Hope your friend had a good time.
Off to bed. Night all.
10:45 pm on May 20th, 2013
Barb! Wait! I just looked at the radar and you have some bad storms coming your way. Keep safe.
10:48 pm on May 20th, 2013
Melanie!…Go to thee bed. Just remember to turn off the sawzall….snort!…Whatever that is.
Beau!…He has watered almost all of the newly potted flowers unbeknownst to my friend…sniff!…They are all on the patio yet because of the unusually cold weather we have having…grump! …Her mother left two messages while my friend was gone…heh!
11:16 pm on May 20th, 2013
I have a new rule for getting stuff done. I am spending too much time reading so I have decided I can no longer read unless I am eating. (I know you are not supposed to read while you eat but I have have never followed that rule, ever. Hmmmmm. Hopefully I won’t gain too much weight and I will get more stuff done.
Barb, I hope you are safe from storms tonight. About jelly feeders. I have some made by a little woodworker in Minneapolis. I bought them at a craft show. They look like little pagodas and they hold a plastic 8 oz. punch glass which I fill with grape jelly. I only have 3 of those feeders and right now I need way more so I also have been filling the empty orange halves with jelly. So that adds about 4 more feeders. Then I decided the Orioles were fighting too much so I put out one dinner plate and 5 sauce bowls full of jelly also.

11:20 pm on May 20th, 2013
I better say stay safe to Macy also. I worry about those Texans this time of year.
Oh, that jelly feeder picture. That shows the feeder almost empty AGAIN. sheesh.
Here is the dinner plate feeder after about 3 hours of rain. It turned into grape juice but they loved it anyway.

11:55 pm on May 20th, 2013
Staff, maybe you should water down the grape jelly to make it last longer. Just a thought. I don’t want the oriole union coming after me.
BTW you can expect to gain weight if you can’t read without eating.
11:58 pm on May 20th, 2013
I know Macy. I am hoping that I eat more slowly and read faster. I have decided I can also read before sleep and upon waking if I wake up early enough.
Life is full of choices. Maybe if I do enough ‘stuff’ it will keep that reading weight down???
Nighty noodle to all yoodle guys.
12:11 am on May 21st, 2013
Macy: Be safe and check in with us in the morning.
HOHs mom an Golinka: You are in our sled dog prayers.
Belle Starr is up to something, but she won’t say what it is exactly…
Nighty noodles.
12:16 am on May 21st, 2013
Barb: We hope you are safe, too. Check in with us in the morning.
We are thinking if G&BB, too. In fact, we pray that no harm will come to any of youse.
Say ‘Good night, Lefty.’
Good night, Lefty.
