Another Photo From a Traveling Reader
Thanks, Hobbit. This beautiful photo you sent yesterday reminds me of a passage early in the Florida section of Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge (coming July 25 and now pre-orderable).

Will be arriving back in Ushuaia is just a few hours. Fortunately the return has been through what is referred to as the Drake lake rather than the Drake shake. Very calm waters.
To answer Rio’s question, the bases are set up for exploration/mapping and scientific experiments. I think over 20 countries may now have bases somewhere in Antarctica. On occasion bases are abandoned and replaced with new bases, which is what happened to the base on Horseshoe Island, which originally was a British base. The food in the pantry is probably more than 60 years old. The food onboard our ship has been excellent; three wonderful meals a day, with grand cuisine.

The last photo is of a zodiac cruising among the ice bergs off of Block Island. The scenery throughout was just incredible and so majestic.
