Angel, Official Therapy Dog of Houston
Here’s Spence last night at the Golden Beginnings (dedicated to the rescue of golden retrievers in need) fundraiser in Houston. He’s with Angel, the official therapy dog of Houston, and Trish Herrera, Angel’s human companion. Thanks to Murder by the Book for two great events.

Good morning, everyone! Nice foto (even it is sideways) 🙂 The G son has landed and our peeps got home from Nashville at 3 this a.m. after abandoning us forever 🙁 Thundery and rainy here today.
We think it is a thunderstruck Thursday.

Good morning all.
Can’t wait for BooBear to report in and tell us all about last night’s event!
Wolfie – we love your suggestion late last night/early this morning.
It’s a gorgeous day here, except for the fact that Mama seems to be packing the van. What’s up with that? They just got home, and now are going to abandoned us again??? Horrors!

Mom really enjoyed last night. Talk about authors with 2 different personalities and styles. SQ was, as always, very gracious and responsive with the audience. (Plus Mom got a big hug and got to converse with him for a little while when he was signing books for customers not able to make the event.) David has a very dead-pan humor. One thing David mentioned was that Tara (Andy Carpenter’s dog in his series) is really non-essential to the stories. The 5th book in his series (Mom thinks he said the 5th) had a dog on the cover and the book sold more than all of his previous books combined. That is why there is a dog on all the covers now. And they are remarketing the original ones with dogs on the covers. We all know that Chet is very essential to SQ’s series.
David also mentioned that he does no planning or research when he writes. Just sits down and starts writing. His books take a couple of months to write. Spence said that each of his take quite a big longer to finish.
All in all, a very interesting night and Mom always loves getting a quick visit with OFA. She did not make it to the second event the guys were headed to (the one mentioned above with the golden rescue.) Looks like it went well.

Oh, and Mom thinks she remembers hearing that the dog in the picture above, Angel, is missing a leg and is partially blind.

Thank you for the excellent report BooBear.
Good morning all.

BooBear, it sounds like a fun and interesting evening. WE are so glad you got to attend. Did you get your book pawtographed?
10:03 am on July 23rd, 2015
BooBear – clap, clap, clap. Great report.
Bee – did you have a wonderful time with your visiting family?
10:16 am on July 23rd, 2015
Just saw a quote in a magazine….”It’s not hoarding if it’s only books.”
Whew I feel better knowing that.
10:17 am on July 23rd, 2015
HOH’s, yes, Mom did get the pawtograph. SQ said that he only has had 1 person ever request him NOT to pawtograph. So he always asks if you want that or not.

T&G, where are your people abandoning you to this weekend?
10:41 am on July 23rd, 2015
They TELL us that it is a beautiful show on the grassy, shade tree grounds of a museum in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
They SAY most of the houses in the area are lush with gorgeous, deep blue hydrangea bushes. And that the ocean is visible in the distance.
Of course, WE don’t get to see this, or go to the show with them.
Grump.

Good Morning All–I was trying to catch up and saw something about “nuptials”. Can someone fill me in?
BooBear–Absolutely correct (but still a relief for some of us).
T and G–I feel for you. Can you blur over here while they’re away? I can offer various veg. treats, plus guacamole, beer and a sneak into the pool if you’d like…
I’m off to the library for SEVEN HOURS (sound like it would be fun, huh? But with the new “system” there are stressful moments…)
Have a most wonderful, delightful Thursday.

Good morning all. I got up early to prepare the table and breakfast for my 4 guests. They are sleeping at the moment. So far Mr. Big has walked across the dining table and laid himself out as a centerpiece. After I lifted him off the table, he climbed onto the kitchen counter and drank from my tumbler of water. Keep in mind that he has a full water dish on the floor. {{{sigh}}}
Diane C: the upcoming wedding is of the son of our very dear blog friend who died in March of 2014. She danced at her eldest son’s wedding and she did get to be a part of her youngest son’s engagement. We here on the blog often virtually “crash” weddings so that we can be a part of the celebration.
I am typing without my glasses because I can’t remember where I put them {{{{sigh}}}

Busy night for Murder by the Book and Spence.
BooBear: Very interesting and fun report on the authors.
HOH: I’m glad the travelers made it home safe and sound. A nap is called for today.
T&G: A big show for the ones with the big houses. I hope it all translates to big bucks for youse.
CHobbit: Mr. Big is living up to his name. Did you check on your head for your glasses?

Great seeing Boo Bear last night!

BooBear gets a shout-out from Spencer! 🙂
1:20 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Very well-written, informative review of the evening, Boo Bear. Spence, if we here move south as Mom is hoping, will that give us any better chance of one day getting to one of your events?
1:41 pm on July 23rd, 2015
WE like the “purple butterfly” costume idea for the nuptials. Yeah for BooBear. CHobbit, your glasses will be in the last place you look! T&G’s Mama, give ’em heck at the festival and sell lots of your gorgeous things. Kat, like Doris Day sang:

Que Sera, Sera. Whatever will be, will be. DianeC, 7 hours in the library? At least it is not Toddler Tuesday 🙁 DAwson, always good to get your take.
Here eyelids slamming shut so, YAWN, heading for a brief nap. But first, have Sunflowers about 5 feet tall from our “spilled” birdseed and they are a delight.
One more thing, for our favorite pug who has shared so much these past days:
2:01 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Thank you, Spence! I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
2:03 pm on July 23rd, 2015
P.S. Mom confessed to SQ that she read the last paragraph of the book. He threatened to take the book back from her. LOL! But ever since reading that review the other day, Mom has been in a bit of a panic. She couldn’t help herself.
2:16 pm on July 23rd, 2015
T&G: Yes, I’m having fun with family. We’ve been gallivanting again today. I told my brother about Spence’s comment regarding the second to last sentence.
(Whispering): I have to admit that I love Mr. Big’s attitude.
2:28 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Hobbit, do you think MrBig realizes that he is in his forever home? Did he have that much catitude the last time he stayed with you?
3:08 pm on July 23rd, 2015
BooBear: I think you are right about Mr. Big. He knows he’s in his furever home and he is testing the boundaries.
CHobbit: I have the image of Mr. Big as a magnificent table centerpiece in my brain and I can’t get it out.

Yeep…I need an easy recipe for a zucchini side dish to take to the potluck banquet tonight. I am bring a large chef’s salad with all the fixings but just got an email asking if I could bring a zucchini side dish. A neighbor just gave me 4 zucchini so that is perfect timing but all I do personally is either eat them raw in salads or sauteed with grated parmeian cheese on top.
Any sure-fire recipes out there?
I have a covered baking dish that I plan to wrap in towels to keep warm.

I bet Rio as a pup was the cutest thing (now his intelligence and wit makes him top dog of the blog and doesn’t have to worry about his looks). I I wonder if any dog likes baths?
I’ve rarely given dogs baths because I usually lived by water and just counted on the dogs to go swimming. Now that I am city bound, I am thinking of taking Sadie to the groomer for bathing. Do you think it might help her shedding?
6:25 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Super easy – cut the Dukes into angled chunks, not slices. Slice an onion thin, then cut the circles in half. Sprinkle the zuke well with salt. Heat up some olive oil – when hot add the zuke a and onion. Stir once then let sauté til one side is brown. Stir again to brown another side.
7 to 10 minutes tops to cook.
6:28 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Hobbit – Tupper loves baths.

And yes, a shedding bath can be very helpful

T&G: thanks for the recipe! Just in time.
My guest have been experiencing rain everyday so far of their trip in Alaska but that hasn’t deterred their energetic spirits–and the sky has been partially sunny since noon so they are seeing the mountains bathed in sunshine. Next stop is Juneau where it is rare to have sunny days. [Alaska used to have a governor who would give state employees in Juneau a day off if it was sunny. It was rare enough that it didn’t cause a problem in state government]

I’m going to ask Momma to pick our next location after Spence releases his next tour dates. Hah!
Hobbit, Sorry I was not here on time to give you our super zucchini recipe. Next time.

Might be too late for this recipe, but here is a little bit fancier one : cut zukes in cubes, mix in chopped onion, green pepper, salt and pepper, a little parmesan cheese and butter. Bake 20 mins with cover on. Add shredded cheese on top and continue baking uncovered another 20 minutes or so.
8:30 pm on July 23rd, 2015
BooBear!…Glad you made it to see Spencer…snuffle!….I will not make it for a multitude of reasons…sob!sob!sob!..WEEEEEP!

Black pug: Please check your Beau-phone.
SQPA: You never forget your first Double Dawson.
Belle Starr woke my Lady up this morning by jumping on my big bed. Not only was she on my big bed, but she was getting attention that I wanted for my own while I sat helplessly on the floor. What did I do? The only thing that could be done. I stole my Lady’s favorite chapstick off the night stand. And, just like that Belle Starr was no longer getting my attention while on my big bed. I am adding my Lady’s favorite chapstick to my list of things that will be mine.

Ole Doc: Snort!

Dawson: Do you remember me? I’m the good looking Outlaw.

Doc!…Doc you are on a chapstick roll! You have to start small to end big!….WOOOOO!
9:47 pm on July 23rd, 2015
If that chapstick is good enough for my Lady, it’s good enough for Ole Doc.
CHobbit: This may be late, but my recipe for zucchini is to place said vegetable on a plate. Pick of your phone and order take out.
9:49 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Zucchin!…It is a good thing to bury deep in the dirt!…snort!
9:51 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Boobear, I think David Rosenfelt’s personality is very much reflected in Andy Carpenter.
Heading to bed shortly. Night all.
9:52 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Ole Doc is a hoot and a half. (Borrowing a snort from the pug).
10:04 pm on July 23rd, 2015
You guys are wrong! Zucchini on the grill, with a little olive oil coating and Italian seasoning is delish! Or fried with onion, like T & G’s mama recommended. Don’t know what you are missing!
Now to bed for sure.
10:20 pm on July 23rd, 2015
I love zucchini with my scrambled eggs and cheese and any other way you want to fix it. Yummy!
Ole Doc: With Annabelle for a mother and Tensing for a father, you come by your good looks honestly.
10:26 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Zucchini!…Name one good thing it will do for Me!…snort!…Will it make my tail curlier? Will it keep me from having a Bath? Will it make my toe nails stop growing? ..grump!…Name one damned thing it will do for me!…wheeeze!
10:51 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Rio – it will make your ummmm “eminations” greener.
11:20 pm on July 23rd, 2015
Kat: A hoot and half? Who me? Was it something I said.
Dawson: Coming by my good looks honestly…yes, let’s stick with that story.
