And We’re Back!
“Forgot the laptop?” Admin says.
“And my comb,” says Spence. “And warmer clothes. But I got to meet Melanie and a good chunk of her talented family. That was special.”
“No computer at the hotel? Business center, for example?”
“Ah. The problem was their computer had ways I wasn’t used to. In fact, I’m afraid I lost some recent Friends of Chet. If you don’t see a photo you’ve sent, please retry.”
“Hmm,” says Admin.
Welcome Romeo.

T&G: Your dachina mask is so beautiful. I am going to look up that name.

T&G – the kachina mask eyes are dancing; it’s exquisite.
Doors, Rebecca. Doors.

Several things . . .
Here’s a link from Canada AM about what Rosie Gray said. I haven’t found a video yet.
http://news.sympatico.ctv.ca/home/protests_against_wall_street_spread_across_us/a214a313
BearSpiritDog and Masquers, I thought I missed your mom’s birthday while being sick. Is it today? If so I need to get to work . . .
I get to go see that Mask in person! Will take pictures.
Next? two more things
9:42 am on October 4th, 2011
Last night . . .
Patsy takes a lot of pills and I make sure she drinks water before we go upstairs to bed. She has a mixture of yogurt and water. (You should see her jowls when she’s done. 🙂 )
Then I take her and whomever wants to go outside for the
“Puppy Pee and Poo Parade”.
Now this is from when she was a little thing. Smaller than her head! I sing a song for all the puppies we kept and they all know what it means. Go outside and do your business and get a treat.
It’s sung to “Tra ra ra boom de ay” tune . . . Ahem . . .
“It’s Puppy Pee and Poo Parade,
Let’s go outside today.
It’s time to poo and pee
and be a family.”
With other verses I make up on the spot.
So I sing the song and last night and Gracie, Katie, and Rose decided to join Patsy and me. It’s dark and I turn on the stockade lights.
We’re outside doing what’s necessary. When I get a very strong muskie, urine yucky odor and my first thought is “Need to clean the stones of the stockade.” Then the dogs’s noses go up in the air, their fur stands on end, and they went NUTS!
Barking and howling and howling and barking with a few good fierce growls added in. They pounced on the fence that separates the stockade from the river bank (20 feet down). Have to say at that point the hair on my neck was on high alert.
I got them inside, left the lights on outside and shut the dog door! By the time I got the last one in (Our fierce Rose) the smell had diminished.
So either a bear or a moose (they are in rut right now) passed by our house down near the river. I don’t think it was a deer because the scent was STRONG. I’ll have to look for prints this morning. Since it’s been raining I’m not sure I’ll see anything.
Such excitement!

Good morning all, we missed you!
Here are a couple of the glich highlights – Went to OHare (which is huge) by limo Friday morning. Got there in plenty of time. We were flying U.S. Air, so went to the terminal that services them. Oh no – sign said we had to get checked in by United. Only problem, different terminal! So hoofed it over there, and automated check-in wouldn’t work. By the time we got to a real person, we were under 1 hour to flight. Sooo, the witch said we couldn’t fly till next flight in 6 hours. Finally talked her into letting us go, without baggage (going on a separate flight). Then after hundreds of people in front of us for security, we had to go to the farthest concorse, farthest gate. Kelly finally ended up sprinting to the gate, while Barb was bring up therear with her bad knee. As we entered the plane, they shut the doors and started the engines! Everyone was glaring at us as we walked down the aise, gasping for breath.
Then we got there, went out to lunch and were sitting at the table when Kelly received a phone call. Her 5 year old, Ben, was in ER with 2 broken bones in his arm! His auntie took him to a kid’s gym place where he fell off a slide. We were going to fly back, but dad got everyting unnder control, and we were able to stay for the rest of the weekend.
Way too much chaos for Barb!
9:45 am on October 4th, 2011
One more thing! A little bird told me (I need little birdies to tell me things) that it is Wolfie’s Dad’s Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Wolfie’s Dad!
9:46 am on October 4th, 2011
Melanie, thanks for posting that link. Mom just reeceived an invitation from our friend to join her family to go up to NYC on Sunday for protests! Yikes!
9:56 am on October 4th, 2011
We had to go back to last night’s posts to see the Royals mum’s mask. That is truly beautiful. We are so proud to have a piece of her work in our home.
9:59 am on October 4th, 2011
Dad loves his cake! He says that he will thank you himself personally later.
Melanie, I betcha all the other dogs are jealous that they didn’t get to chase off a wild critter and save the world! I would love to hear all of their stories!
10:01 am on October 4th, 2011
I hope Rebecca remembered to lock the doors last night!
10:27 am on October 4th, 2011
Good Morning!
Barb, Welcome back. What a trip!
Beautiful Kachina Mask Royal Mum!
Happy Birthday Wolfie’s dad!
And…Happy Birthday Bear!
10:35 am on October 4th, 2011
Good morning all –
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA WOLF!
The sun is out – tra la, tra la! Oops – its gone again…no wait, its coming back….oh please, let there be sun…we’re starting to feel like damp sponges, sitting on the edge of the sink. Never completely dry before getting soaked again…sigh.
Melanie – WOW! Did you hear anything over all the barking – was there a crashing through the underbrush? Could it have possibly been one of those 100 pound beavers? They have a musk gland and can smell pretty ripe too. So glad you have a Giant Pack of Very Ferocious Tail Waggers to protect you.
Barb – WELCOME HOME – We missed hearing from you. My gosh, what a helacious adventure. How is the little guy’s arm?
10:36 am on October 4th, 2011

T & G,

I hope you don’t mind my taking the liberty of rotating your mask for you. It is exquisite and worth reposting correctly oriented.
Melanie,
Wolfie’s Dad’s cake is beautiful.
10:52 am on October 4th, 2011
Oley Howlers: Now where have I seen a comb lately? It was in an unlikely spot. Seems to me Rio had something to do with it. Hmmmm. I think T&G’s Watching Eyes went to the right home but I did bid long and hard for it! Isn’t that kachina mask fantastic?
Barb and Maggie: Welcome back. Experiences like yours at the airport is why I go 3 hours early. Hope the little guy is okay.
Wolfie: Give you dad a happy birthday nudge from me. Did you notice the nose on the cake dog? Another Melanie masterpiece.
Melanie: Yikes! Be careful out there. “Tra ra ra boom de aye”…now that takes me back a ways Heh!
C.Harris: I knew there was a question you had asked and I hadn’t answered. I remembered as I laid down in bed last night. No, I didn’t see any of those Northern Lights a few days ago or since.
They are a lot rarer here the past few years. I read somewhere that the magnetic North Pole has shifted and that may affect where they are visible. Siberia is the place to be. Still no frost!!
I hope I can catch Rosie on Canada AM. Thanks for the link, Melanie
10:53 am on October 4th, 2011
Melanie — thanks for the link to Rosie’s interview. Great interview — papa must be proud. Wookie
11:00 am on October 4th, 2011
TYB – THANK YOU so much – we couldn’t figure it out last night after finishing it. Think our brain was a little loopey.
Dawson and CHarris – one of the big bears we have for the show is called “Northern Lights” He is a matte black with a glossy deep blue, gray and charcoal “blanket” of glaze that drips down to his feet. And his feather bundle is black feathers with blue macaw feathers “shooting” out. We have never seen the real thing, but we have a huge watercolor painting by a famous local artist that shows an arcing light over the snow. It is one of our very favorite things (even if it is a snow scene,-shiver)
Mama says we have to go now – work work work – she does love working with her clay.
Hope to check back in with you tonight.
11:09 am on October 4th, 2011
I can sympthatize with Spence and his computer problems. I don’t feel so stupid when I learn that someone I consider to be really intelligent is not a techo-whiz.
Happy Birthday to Nana!!
Happy Birthday to Wolfie’s Dad!
Melanie makes the best cakes in the world.
11:11 am on October 4th, 2011
T&G: That the mask is very beautiful!
Happy birthday, Wolfie’s Dad!!!
Happy birthday, Nana!!
Melanie: Super great cake!
Belle: What do I do when you come to visit? We don’t have that yummy chapstick like your two-legged mom has. Can she pack some in your pink, sparkly backpack? Will you remind me to lock my door (and remember to take the key from the outside lock)? The Prof found my keys hanging from the outside lock last week when he got home from his night class….
GRRRR…..No baseball talk today!
11:12 am on October 4th, 2011
Here’s a link to info on the kachina masks. If you click on “kachina” on the left, there is more information on the dolls.

Happy birthday Wolfie’s dad. Love the cake Melanie.
11:23 am on October 4th, 2011
T&G The Kachina mask is beautiful!! There won’t be anything like it at the art show.
We really, really want to see a photo of the Bear.
The Newfs knew which wild animal was out there in the dark, but they are not telling.
Welcome back Barb!!
11:38 am on October 4th, 2011
Nana here (whispering) it is Bear’s Birthday today.
11:48 am on October 4th, 2011
Happy birthday, Wolfie! We love the cake, especially that nose (thanks for pointing that out, Dawson).
Happy birthday, Bear! We are glad your mom clarified that. We were confused because Nana just had a birthday that was ruined by bad news on the medical front. how is #2 son?
12:04 pm on October 4th, 2011
Happy Birthday Bear!!!
Fellow Sibers, We finished Eyes of the Dragon and really liked it. Mom knows now why she missed that book when it came out..she doesn’t like fantasy. We are glad you recommended it. The illustrations do compliment the story and the one of Frisky is just perfect.
12:10 pm on October 4th, 2011
Siber, we don’t usually read fantasy either (we are living our own fantasy LOL ), but Steven King wrote it!!! We’re glad you liked it. Doesn’t it make you dream of a girlfriend named Frisky?
12:15 pm on October 4th, 2011
Well, it does make me dream of a girlfriend named Frisky but Meashka is my number one best dream.
12:22 pm on October 4th, 2011
Chet posted a link to this review on FB.
http://www.mysteriousreviews.com/mystery-book-reviews/quinn-dog-knew-too-much.html
Get this: “But when Chet is alone and rambling to himself, the narrative slows down, tends to drift well off topic, and though it may generate a chuckle or two, it typically goes on far too long.”
Is that reviewer missing the point or what. You tell
meus.12:27 pm on October 4th, 2011
Happiest of birthdays, my wise, wonderful, Bear!!!!
12:30 pm on October 4th, 2011
OH: I agree. This reviewer doesn’t have a clue!
12:34 pm on October 4th, 2011
I have one thing to say about that review:
CHET IS NEVER BORING
12:43 pm on October 4th, 2011
You got that right Siber!
Oh, and Meashka thinks you’re a dream too, tee hee Young Love…
12:49 pm on October 4th, 2011
WELL, someone doesn’t know what a narrative is!!
T&G: hope Gilly doesn’t decide to slide down “Northern Lights” bear.
How are all our wounded and ill?
I’m doing a bit better! There’s hope. . . no if we only had some sun.
12:52 pm on October 4th, 2011
Siber – VHAT??? Meashka is your number von dream? Vell, I never!
Natasha vill now flounce out of room, tail and nose held high!
Happy Birthday to my dear Bear! Natasha can alvays count on you to be gentledog!
Hello Rio – my little Pugnik. Have you missed your Borzoi?
12:59 pm on October 4th, 2011
I’m in trouble.
1:07 pm on October 4th, 2011
Natasha, Dima would like to know why you flirt with all these boys, but never with him.
1:26 pm on October 4th, 2011
Dawson,
Here is a riddle for you.
What did Staff find (and buy) at the store today that was Buy One get one free?
and the clues are:
She has to hide it from TurtlemanFred (which is why I am posting the riddle here and not on our blog)
And it needs to be refrigerated until you arrive.
Snicker
1:38 pm on October 4th, 2011
It’s ZoĂ«’a birthday tomorrow and a cake arrived in our kitchen. A beautiful white frosted cake. Yummers.
Unfortunately, before I could grab it The Pack devoured half of it. It was then I realized that it had gotten sent to us by mistake.
Happy Birthday BearSpiritDog!

1:38 pm on October 4th, 2011
Alice, does it have to do with Turtleman Fred’s name?
1:50 pm on October 4th, 2011
Hanging my head in apology for the confusion I caused. Happy birthday, Bear!
2:19 pm on October 4th, 2011
The reviewer (blast–her name seems to be Betty) spends two-thirds of the review summarizing the story line. That is the first indication that the reviewer has poor skills when it comes to analysis. The review is boring but Chet never is.
3:04 pm on October 4th, 2011
I like the words vs picture below. Someone sent it to YSAS.
I love these things. My favorite is “A Drool of Newfoundlands” though I must confess I made that one up!
3:23 pm on October 4th, 2011
A Plethora of Plunderers!
3:29 pm on October 4th, 2011
Ooooh Melanie: The cake is scrumptous!!! I LOVE IT!!! You quite simply made my day!
3:37 pm on October 4th, 2011
P.S. I am always happy to share with the Pack! (and a Piethora of Plunders)
3:43 pm on October 4th, 2011
Marvelous Melanie: A drool of Newf’s – I like it. It took me too long to figure out the “attempted murder”.
BearSpiritDog’s cake looks delish. Happy birthday Bear!
Staff: Nut Goodies? Although they wouldn’t have to be refrigerated.
My house is a mess, my desk piled a foot high with papers, my MIL is coming, this is my only day off (No – because I had to go in for 1 hour education on documentation), it’s 10% off Tuesday at the grocery store and Thanksgiving is Monday. Aaaaargh! Breathe…Think like Chet …Is that a frito I see under the couch? Not anymore!
Northern Lights! The best video I have ever seen of the N.L. was by Ole Salomonsen. If you google Northern Lights and find the link entitled, “In The Land of the Northern Lights” you can see the video from Northern Norway. Wonderful!
I am not going to read the review.
3:52 pm on October 4th, 2011
Sorry but I don’t understand the “Attempted Murder” picture.
4:01 pm on October 4th, 2011
Don’t feel bad B. We don’t get that Attempted Murder pic either.
4:02 pm on October 4th, 2011
B: “Attempted” meaning two probably isn’t enough for a Murder of Crows.
4:06 pm on October 4th, 2011
I wonder how many it takes.
4:07 pm on October 4th, 2011
Wait! I just checked…a murder of crows is anything more than one…so it appears the attempted “murder” was successful!
4:16 pm on October 4th, 2011
Hey Dima – don’t feel too bad. Natasha never flirts with me either. Guess long eared, lanky hounds ain’t her type. Hey…wait jist a cotton pickin minute. SHE’s a long eared, lanky hound. What’s up with that?
4:36 pm on October 4th, 2011
Masquers, I have always heard that a flock of crows is a murder, so two wouldn’t be one. But here are some more “Collective Nouns”.
“A charm of hummingbirds” I mean that is such a delight!
http://www.rinkworks.com/words/collective.shtml
4:37 pm on October 4th, 2011
“A bob of seals” These just tickle me pink!
4:45 pm on October 4th, 2011
Numerous!…A Pickle of Pugs…heh!
4:55 pm on October 4th, 2011
Off-Day!….My friend stayed home today….wooooo!….We went car shopping with her mother this morning…snort!….I got to go along. She had me on my little walking halter. We had to stay outside while her mother bickered with the salesman inside…sniff!….We walked around a lot of large pick-up trucks and I left my mark on almost all of them…heh!heh!
Project!…After lunch we came downstairs. She got busy and worked on her project – Rose – Time 2 hours….sniff!… Here is a photo of what a part of it looks like so far. Mind you this doesn’t hold a stick to what Stinky Mama has produced with her clay and gold and turquoise….wuffle!….This is just lowly paper…twirled…grunt!
5:13 pm on October 4th, 2011
OOOOOOOoooooooo……it is not a bird. It is a lady’s dress!
It is wonderful!!!!!!
5:15 pm on October 4th, 2011
So Rio, That long trip to hell and back resulted in the demise of her mother’s car?
5:16 pm on October 4th, 2011
Rio – Mama thinks your friend’s work is amazing. She loves the lines that are developing in that dancing figure. The mantilla is lovely!
You really should pug her to do your portrait. (and you should encourage her to enter some of her artwork in shows or competitions.
5:22 pm on October 4th, 2011
Rio: That is high praise indeed coming from the Royal mum! We agree. Your friend does amazing work!
5:28 pm on October 4th, 2011
Love the black shawl around the lady Rio.
I just talked with my brother. He’s having another test right now–the one where he takes a pill that is like a camera. He walked for an hour today and is feeling better. (Still hasn’t had any solid food.) He wants me to thank all of you for keeping your paws crossed for him.
5:31 pm on October 4th, 2011
Riö, Excellent. And it’s cool that I can see where I thought it was a bird. I hope you’re friend will continue to update us.
6:02 pm on October 4th, 2011
B: It is good to hear that your brother is feeling better. We continue to send healing thoughts and prayers his way and comfort to you.
6:18 pm on October 4th, 2011
Oh Dawson I gave you too many hints. Either that or you know how much the thought of chocolate inspires TurtlemanFred.
Mom says “Hi”

6:26 pm on October 4th, 2011
Hi Mom!
Alice, I thought that it had to do with that Southern delicacy called “Pecan Turtles”. What does the “turtle” in his name stand for?
6:29 pm on October 4th, 2011
ZoĂ« thought of “an array of aardvarks”. Having a good time here.
6:47 pm on October 4th, 2011
Chorkel!… She just got back from that place Stinky Mama works at….snort!…Now she is all tuckered out….sniff!…She says some people go there and hardly do anything. Not her, she goes all out for 50 minutes or so…wuffle!….I really bet we do not go on The Brutal Walk tonight…heh! ((sigh))
Project!….Oh, she told me to tell you all thanks for the nice comments on the project so far…chuffle!… Apparently there is a TON of work to do yet and she is wondering if she should side-table this project and work on some smaller ones for the Mushers Mercantile Christmas Store….snort!
Rebeccer!….When do you want to open the Mushers Mercantile Christmas Store?…sniff!…When should we have our Descriptions and Photographs of our Items to you?…wheeze!
6:48 pm on October 4th, 2011
HI!…MoM!…heh!snort!
7:07 pm on October 4th, 2011
Bear says thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes & Melanie for the wonderful cake!
SnowBella: Nana thinks one can’t have too many Happy Birthday wishes. Around here it’s known as Birthday Week!
And before we sign off – she says – Don’t Forget to Lock the Doors!
7:35 pm on October 4th, 2011
Rio: Thanks for the update. 17 hours and 15 minutes. I never cease to be amazed whenever you post a picture of your friend’s work! She is an artist in her own right. Might this be a flamenco dancer? I do see now it is not a bird.
B: Prayers still coming at your brother from Westchester.
Rebecca: Lock the windows too. And don’t leave your keys hanging on the outside of your door!
Belle: Be sure to make rounds before lights out….
Good Morning, Liz!
I’ll say goodnight here….
7:36 pm on October 4th, 2011
Birthday!…I’m confused.,..sniff!…How can Bear, who is Dead, have a Birthday?….grunt!
7:44 pm on October 4th, 2011
Nooooo!….She says we are going on Half of The Brutal Walk before the Tigers and Yankees game comes on….wheeze! …sob!sob!…cough!…..I don’t wanna go. I wanna stay here and watch TV….snuff! grunt!
7:50 pm on October 4th, 2011
Rio, your friend’s project is lovely. Our mom would never have either patience or artistic talent to do any of this.
A.J., what on earth is a nut goodie?
Oh my those redbirds have the tieing run on base.
7:50 pm on October 4th, 2011
Bear could be having a birthday celebrating his birth into his last life form, whatever that might be. Sooo anyway, Bear, Happy Day!
8:11 pm on October 4th, 2011
This is too exciting.. Lets go Phils
8:17 pm on October 4th, 2011
Fellow Sibers, Maybe Siber moms just aren’t the creative, artistic type…my mom can’t do that stuff either…no patience, no talent.
Rio’s friend’s work is always beautiful.
8:23 pm on October 4th, 2011
The latest work is beautiful Rio. She should enter some of her works into competition, as others have suggested.
8:24 pm on October 4th, 2011
YAY !!!!!!!!! Phils squeaked it out 3-2
Phils lead series 2-1 One more game to go!
8:26 pm on October 4th, 2011
Are nut goodies like Bun candy bars? Yum, and impossible to find these days.
Rio, the dancer is beautiful. What a talented bunch you are, especially with art – and words, Melanie and Zoe. You make me laugh.
Sweet dreams, all.

Good night all.
8:57 pm on October 4th, 2011
Siber-H, I believe that Siber Moms have a great deal of patience. 🙂 And for that artist thingy, perhaps Siber Moms just have their hands full.
I’m signing off!
TTFN
9:21 pm on October 4th, 2011
What Siber moms lack in patience and artsiness, they make up for with their sense of humor. Its the #1 prerequisite for being a Siber mom.
Good night all…time for sweet Phillies dreams.
9:21 pm on October 4th, 2011
Happy Birthday to everyone with a birthday this week!
Rio, tell your friend she is an amazing artist. Between her and T&G’s mom, there is an abundance of great talent on this blog.
And my dad, who is a reformed (or so he says) junk food addict, says that Nut Goodies are quite delish, but very rich. Don’t cha know (that’s Minnesotan speak). Wookie
9:33 pm on October 4th, 2011
Wookie!… I wouldn’t compare my friend and her little bits of paper to Tupper and Gilly’s gal….sniff!… This one here is a fledgling craftsperson and Stinky Mama is a true professional Artist….wheeze!…Don’t cha know…heh!
Junkie!….I sure wish my friend was a junk food addict like yer Pa…grunt!… I never get anything good outta her…sniff!…Luckily, her mother is another story…heh!heh!…Today has been rough though, someone has been watching everything I eat…all damned day long…gruffle!
9:47 pm on October 4th, 2011
Wookie, my man, great review at B & N.
Will have to tell Melanie tomorrow morning that we went back and read her comments about the review and meeting with Spence. Great photos too, Melanie. It is so exciting to get to meet him in real life!
10:16 pm on October 4th, 2011
Melanie,
TurtlemanFred has a turtle (American Box Turtle) called Fred. Fred laid an egg and now she has a son? named Jeffrey.
He has liked turtles since he was knee high to a grasshopper.

Turtles!….So Staff’s brother named a turtle after himself and then found out it was a girl,,,chorkel!….Sometimes that family makes me scratch my ears….heh!
10:31 pm on October 4th, 2011
YaY BlueCat,
Nice to see you!
10:33 pm on October 4th, 2011
Rio, My brother says it is really hard to figure out the s-e-x of a turtle. You have to wait and see who is on top. ;-D
10:33 pm on October 4th, 2011
I mean Staff’s brother….teehee
11:02 pm on October 4th, 2011
AbbieTheKat!…That is way more turtle information than I will ever need…grunt!
11:10 pm on October 4th, 2011
Hey!
Bluecat: Looking good!
Staff: Remember when Spence used to wear that red checked shirt to his interviews? And then it went missing? Where did mom get that shirt? I must say it looks fabulous with those purple pants. I’m thrilled she passed her fashion sense down to me.
More importantly, why is she holding my Nut Goodies! You do know she has a sweet tooth, right? Maybe you should go get a couple more boxes while they are still 2 for 1.
I’m trying to make some pumpkin soup and watch the game at the same time. Those darn Yankees. The soup is “interesting”.

Dawson I looked and looked for a picture of Dad in his multi-plaid shorts and shirt and the knee high sport socks but I couldn’t find it. I did find this picture which reminded me that THIS SATURDAY the OperationMigration.org folks hope to start their 11th trip leading the young whooping cranes down to Florida and Alabama from Wisconsin.
Tune in for more info there.

So Dima, my darlink…you are vanting to be noticed by Natasha? Vell, you must understand, this gentle Borzoi heart vas broke and stomped on by very bad playdog Siber who is living in New Mexico. First he flirts, then he says “No – vill not admit to be mad in love vith Natasha” He goes to London vith NAtasha, then sleeps in GARDEN and digs holes! And Vhitey-Lance vas only playing vith the emotions – he is big joker and should only be vith other Snowhook doggies as they have funny sense of funny.
Is true, Commander Rio is little short, and sometimes very grumpy, but he vill alvays say truth.Volfie is very nice gentleman, but he is in loving vith Princess Sam. BearSD travels too much on astral plane, and Redbone – vell, magnolia trees and moonshine are ok for short time, but ve prefer more cosmopolitan type.
So, Dima- vould be nice to meet Natasha? Maybe share bowl of borscht? Hmmm?

OMG, you have the cutest kids. AWWWW! Love this photo I have alwyas loved the name Madelyn. And Kate is very cool. I have known quite a few over the years and they were alwyas cool girls. Kate usually became Katester though, which I alwyas liked to say Oh don’t get me started. With a name like Charlotte, the nicknames never end! I once had a kid named Columbus Tyson III make fun of my name. Like, seriously? LOL!!
