A Scary Universe

Bernie takes a look at yestersday’s post. “Nudie Cohn and Abraham Lincoln showing up together on the same page?” he says. “How often does that happen?” He pours some more coffee. I like that smell, although water is my drink. “Imagine,” he says, “some alternate universe where Nudie Cohn and Lincoln actually meet each other.”

Alternate universe? This was new. Bernie talks about the universe a lot, galaxies, stars, and big big numbers, way more than two. Alternate universe? You tell me.

“Suppose, for example,” Bernie says, “that in this alternate universe Nudie Cohn sold Lincoln one of his suits, the Porter Wagoner kind, and Lincoln wore it when he gave the Gettysburg Address. Would history have been different?”

Huh?

Bernie smacks his head. That hardly ever happens. “What am I talking about?” he says. “Let’s get to work, big guy.”

I’m at the door.

Note to C. Harris: Working away on book #3. Maybe a scene from it will get posted tomorrow.

I received Thereby Hangs a Tail. The title page is signed by Spencer Quinn and there is a paw print of Chet the Jet. Now how cool is that!

When I'm finished giving final exams I'll start reading. What a great thing to look forward to.

Chet has mentioned several times that the book may be out sooner than Jan so Mom keeps checking in at the local bookstore. Congrats on your autographed advance copy!! Mom would be hard pressed not to spend an all nighter and read it right away.

Congratulations B. How wonderful. I'm thinking of Chet wandering around with his foot inked up. He probably enjoyed it.

Maybe Audrey has a paw up on the situation. That would be very special too.

Thereby Hangs a Tale is excellent! I've been laughing for an hour. Here's one of my favorite parts. Chet is remembering a camping trip when Bernie was teaching Charlie how to chop down a tree with an ax: "Talk about excitement! Tim-ber! And a lucky thing no one was in the tent at the time."

I can't say anything more because Chet, Bernie, Spence and Admin would get angry with me. I hope it hits the bookstores soon for everyone.

Great that you got your copy so fast, B. Stover. Wonderful. I'm doing the same as Rebecca…re-reading Dog On It, so it is crisp in my mind for Thereby Hangs a Tail.
