A No-No

“Lock him up,” Admin says.

“If the charges are true,” says Spence. “Presumption of innocence and all that.”

“Oh, yeah. Almost forgot.”

“A common problem.”

Yea, hope the perp bled a lot after the dog bit him. Serves him right. Chet would be proud. Case closed.

Have beein in therapy this morning – dirt therapy. Or soil therapy if you prefer. Mixed in some mushroom compost and some state-of-the-art compost from our old farm. Planted snow peas, mesclun mix, and arugula so far. Later today will do shallots, spinach and beets.

Now must go shower and wash the dirt off so I can go for my 3 month check up. Later.

Good on the K9 officer for stopping for a bit of lunch. We picture the dastard hitting the officer and the officer responding with a well placed so-it’s-like-that-is-it bite.

Realtor just left. I meet with her tomorrow after she runs some numbers. I wish she had been more awed by the house and all the work I’ve done on it but she does think it should sell within a couple of months. My biggest fear was that she would make me paint the walls white–I am a painting fiend and have painted all my friends houses and mine including the garage. I use various combinations and some special finishes (ie candlelight finish in the bedroom, marbling the bathroom walls to match the vanity, etc.). And a couple of rooms are painted in very dark colors. We’ll see. I’ve packed away 95% of my clutter and personal items but she wants everything gone. I’m probably a couple of weeks away from it being listed in the MLS for showings.

    6:41 pm on April 29th, 2013

Yeah, When do the chickens arrive?

C.Harris, We think your house sounds very nice…much better than white walls.

  36. Barb & Maggie
    6:43 pm on April 29th, 2013

Wow, Oleys, that is a fabulous coop. What is the cleared ground part in front? Will that be fenced in and seeded? Those 6 hens will be in chicken heaven there (we hope not literally). We just finished Once Upon a Flock. What a darling book. Thanks for recommending it.

With many dog breeds you can take the young chickens and hold them safely in front of you and tell the dogs “Good chickie, mine” etc. Not sure if that works with Sibes.

BSD, Barb has not been following the moon cycles, just too anxious to get the things planted.

    7:12 pm on April 29th, 2013

Siber, we would invite you up here to share the plunder, butthere will be 6 chickens, and there are 3 of us so….we think somehow there wouldn’t be any left for you. The little fluffballs are not scheduled to arrive until after the Seattle trip, the end of May.
Barb, that book was recommended to us by Bluecat, and we are so very glad it was. Pop is reading it now.
The cleared dirt is just part of the fill needed to level the ground there. We would like to get it sloped more gently, and feathered (ha!). As to how to plant it, we are trying to figure it out. We don’t want to cut grass on that slope. Mom is hoping to put a plastic temporary fence around the little sort of wooded area to the left of that white shed, and string some zigzagged fishing line thru the trees, so the chickens can hang out there sometimes, and clean that junky area out.
C.Hobbit, Mom wants you to come paint our bedrooms. Your walls sound beautiful.

Intel!… I did find out what happened although some of the details are still sketchy….sniff!… I almost fell over dead when I heard them talking about what happened yesterday afternoon….sniff!….Remember I told youse guys that we had company that would not leave? Well, apparently the little girl is in 4-H and had brought two baby goats to show at the fair…sniff!….Somehow these Goats ended up on my front lawn in a large pen the whole while they were visiting…gasp!….When these people finally felt it was time to leave my friend helped them load the goats into the SUV. …grunt!…I will never forgive her for this, but she is in pain so I guess I will forgive her at some point… eventually….sniff!…. She stepped wrong when all the Goat-Weight was in her corner as those suckers moved around when they were lifted up, and she strained her paw….grump! …. Goats are no good I tell youse! No good at all to anyone…dammit!…They better stay out of my yard front or back from now on…wheeze!….I don’t care if they are baby goats or old goats. Makes no difference to me by dawg…dammit!

Last check in before we turn in too. The Storyteller was just brilliant today. He was done with his exercises while the therapist was going across the room to get the next piece of equipment. Only bad thing is that the hospital got very crowded this morning – he now has a (cranky, nasty, anti-social, angry) roommate. Oh well. Good thing there is a tv lounge, a balcony and a dining/activity room. And only 4 days til he comes HOME!!!!!

Meanwhile, the polls are open tomorrow for a primary, so guess who gets to get up at 5 am.

Oh, and as far as that holding- the-chickie and saying “good chickie – mine” – ya, good luck with that. The Sibes already know its a good chickie, even without gravy.
