A Fine Member Of The Nation Within
“Here’s a sad story,” says Spence, “but it includes a very fine member of the nation within.”
“Too bad,” says Admin, “that they didn’t include the name of the dog. In fact, I’ve been thinking of writing a whole thing on dog names, just based on the Friends of Chet.”
Dog names? Mine’s Chet, pure and simple. Once someone asked if it was short for Chester. What was up with that?

I like your name Chet.
Good morning all.
9:44 am on October 14th, 2011
Good morning, y’all! Mom just read that article in our paper and was going to post it. It happened near here. It’s such a sad story, but that is one great dog — makes me proud to be part of the same species!

Good morning, everyone!

Mystery!…. Now here is a real life mystery…snort!… The guys house was left unlocked, lights on and his personal items were out. Two cars were at the house – were both his?…sniff!sniff!… He left at 4:00pm. Did he leave alone?….wheeze!…. He was found in heavy vegetation in an area they would not expect him to go and it was very far from his home…grunt!…His boat hit land at full speed!…grunt!…This sounds like the beginning or ending of The Charming Mr. Abrahams next story!…..sniff! ….The strangest thing is his dog was with him…snuff! ….There must be an explanation….hmmmm!
10:02 am on October 14th, 2011
Kirby!….Please keep me informed of anything they find out about this guy….snort !….I’m betting there is way more to this than meets the eye….wheeze!
10:03 am on October 14th, 2011
What a sad story, but once again a member of the Nation stands strong.
We are in the mountains. Its beauriful here and very high up. Another hour to go on our roadtrip.
10:23 am on October 14th, 2011
Good Morning all.
Paws crossed for Angie, and for the Howlers’ new baby sister.
Staff-those salt free recipes sound lovely.
Redbone – we like Bella’s suggestion about using your ears as a scarf! You could even wrap petite Miss Macy up in them. Besides, you have your love to keep you warm.
So – Admin is now considering being a writer? What’s gonna happen if he gets famous too?? Then all the book signings will have to be a 3 way split with the Famous Peter Abrahams, the Charming Spencer Quinn and the (Rio – adjective, please)Admin!
10:28 am on October 14th, 2011
Suicide, homocide or accident? Having his dog with him seems to rule out suicide…unless he didn’t want to be alone. (There was a movie about sisters whose mother had committed suicide and had taken the cat with her.) Yes, Kibry, please let us know if you hear anything more.
10:32 am on October 14th, 2011
Haven’t we always considered Admin to be PA?
Sorry Kirby…finger got criss-crossed on the keys above.
10:35 am on October 14th, 2011
Confused!…I think Gulper and Gilly are confused by the whole Admin vs PA thing….heh!
10:41 am on October 14th, 2011
Diet!… Staff please post some of those recipes you learned about last night….snort!… My friend needs all the help she can get. Her potassium is still a little low apparently. Even though she’s been choking down banana’s left and right. …gah!… So if you have any suggestions about how to increase that without eating more bananas, it would be appreciated…sniff! … She eats healthy while she is at the busy place because she packs her healthy lunch each day. It’s eating the crap her mother fixes at night that is killing her…grunt!

Just for information – there is a special show on 20/20 tonight
Friday at 10 p.m. ET on “Hidden America: Children of the Plains,” a 20/20 special
Diane Sawyer (re)visits the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota – one of the poorest Indian reservations. We know it will be sad and hard to watch, but we need to see how the media is going to deal with this.
And now, Mama says we have to get off the ‘puter and get to work on some lovelies for the MMS. Seems she has this idea of combining a clay sculpture with a dreamcatcher….hmmmmm
10:47 am on October 14th, 2011
Meat!… This morning when I was scoping out what was in the refrigerator, which is every time it is opened by the way…heh! …I saw that her mother has a big chunk of frozen fat in there thawing out….grunt!….There was a little bit of meat on it, but not much. Mostly fat. It was probably a bargain at the store. Mother says she is going to make Beef(?) and Noodles tonight….heh!….My friend will surely be looking forward to that!…snort!
11:08 am on October 14th, 2011
Rio: Perhaps your friend should tell her mother that she has decided to become a vegetarian and will therefore make her own meals from now on.
T&G: I was going to ask about a dreamcatcher. One with a clay sculpture sounds like a wonderful idea.
11:13 am on October 14th, 2011
MMCS!…. Sounds like we are going to have a great Opening Day at the Musher Mercantile Christmas Store….snort!….I hope everybody is working on their special Items and writing up their Descriptions…sniff!…Don ‘t forget to send your photographs to Melanie for Re-Sizing….heh!
11:25 am on October 14th, 2011
We agree, we think Admin is AKA Mr. A.
Thanks T & G, we are planning to watch that show tonight.
Boating accident. We think it was a heart attack plain and simple. Passed out, ran ashore at full speed, had taken the dog for company. Guy probably never knew what hit him. Glad the dog was OK and found safe.
Does anyone have an opinion on the K.C. Mo. baby Lisa who is missing?
11:25 am on October 14th, 2011
Hi Kirby, Yes please do let us know if you learn any more.
How is your new maybe little brother doing?
My Fellow Sibers are almost there!! WOO WOO
I hope they can report back to us on the trip home.
Dog Names are a facinating subject these days. No longer do people feel they have to name their dogs traditional dog names…Spot, Rover, Prince, Duke, and so on and so forth. Mom once met a Lab named Richard. Dog parks are a good place to experience the variety of dog names.

This salad was the first thing we made and ate last night. I had never eaten hearts of palm before. Yummers..
Hearts of Palm salad (serves 4)
3 Celery Sticks
1 can (or 4) hearts of palm
1/2 lemon, juiced
extra virgin olive oil (evoo)
chopped fresh italian (flat) parsley
black pepper
Juice the lemon and mix in approx. equal amount of good olive oil. Wash celery and slice thinly. Drain hearts of palm and cut into thin coins. Mix celery and hearts of palm with chopped parsley together. Add the condiment of oil and lemon just at the last minute. Serve immediately. Sprinkle with black pepper if you wish.
11:35 am on October 14th, 2011
Hearts of Palm is good in a romaine lettuce and sliced tomato salad as well.
11:35 am on October 14th, 2011
Rio, My mom would ask the doctor for a prescription for a potassium supplement rather than choke down bananas. I like bananas but mom says, gah.
Potassium supplements can be purchased over the counter, but my dad takes one the doctor prescribes. It isn’t expensive.
11:42 am on October 14th, 2011
This was my favorite treat of the whole evening. I normally do not eat shrimp, just a preference, which I now have decided to change. You can serve it on short skewers as an appetizer (one shrimp and pineapple piece for each skewer) or on longer ones, as you wish.
Shrimp and Pineapple Skewer (serves 4)
3 fresh Pineapple slices (not canned)
24 peeled and cooked shrimp
1 lemon, juiced
extra virgin olive oil (evoo)
fresh rosemary sprigs
black pepper
Juice the fresh lemon and mix in approx. equal amount of olive oil; add pepper just before using. Cut pineapple into cubes. Place 6 shrimp and 6 pineapple cubes on each skewer. Brush the condiment of oil and lemon onto the filled skewers. Simmer, covered, in a bit of olive oil in a pan on the stovetop for 3 to 4 minutes, or just until the pineapple has a little bit of brown on it. Serve warm.

Good Day Friends
12:25 pm on October 14th, 2011
Staff, Have to admit, that shrimp sounds better than tuna casserole.
Kelly’s FIL, the alcoholic, called her yesterday and said he was looking for Sue and couldn’t find her. Kelly said “Are you at the cemetary?” His response – “She died?” Wow! Yes, 10 weeks ago. He doesn’t remember any of it! Can’t remember that his wife of 48 years is gone. His brain is pickled, and he has amnesia and memory loss.
12:39 pm on October 14th, 2011
A sad story about the dog guarding his master’s body. Barb & Maggie may be right – could have been a heart attack. But that seems too simple. Too many things unexplained. Yes, Rio, it would make a great mystery – beginning with that scene, then going back to explain the circumstances that lead up to it.
After reading White Wings it is difficult to get into another story. To think this was Dan’s first novel – with a review by Robert B. Parker no less. Wookie, didn’t you also review the book?
SnowBella: Loved your story last night! Are you planning to put all these amazing tales into a little book? I hope so. They are so special. If you need any help with a title the Plunderers, as always, are available with suggestions.
Staff: Hearts of Palm. A favorite of ours. We are adding this and the shrimp recipe to the Dishlickers Cookbook. With the 3 ring binder this is a snap.
12:43 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio. My thoughts exactly that the story about the man in S. Carolina was definitely beginning to sound like the beginning of a PA novel. Kirby, please keep us informed re any developments.
Rio — your response last night regarding the glory of the baseball season brought back sweet memories of you and me at the Rockies opening day of the season, Jumbotron included. Are you and SiberH still on for the World Series? I’ll keep the Wookiemobile all gassed up. Wookie
12:55 pm on October 14th, 2011
My elective class begins All Quiet on the Western Front next week. I’ve copied the discussion questions and internet sites on World War I on my blog.
Barb: It sounds as though Kelly’s FIL needs to get professional help.
The recipe sounds good Staff. I’m getting shrimp and pineapple next time I go to the market.
Love the photo Bear.
12:58 pm on October 14th, 2011
WOO WOO I’m ready Wookie!
We will need to find a way to bust Rio out of his yard.
Bear, The dog…that is adorable.
1:09 pm on October 14th, 2011
Wookie!… I am definitely up for the World Series!…snort!snort!… Be sure to bring the inflatable Pug doll when you come to pick me up. You know, the one that looks like me sleeping sitting up….heh!… We can make the switch while those two are fighting in the kitchen over what snacks to make…grunt!….No one will ever suspect that I am gone…wooooo!
Wookie!….Remember to fix your muffler before you come to get me…heh!
1:20 pm on October 14th, 2011
Good Afternoon Everyone. . . That story is fascinating. What the heck happened?
Sooo, the new Honda Element that they said they had and just had to get to us? Yeah, right. Phone call yesterday. Sorry, couldn’t get that car, but we have the 2 wheel drive we’ll sell you. I said No, we need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Said that 3 times and then said Zoë wasn’t home and he could try later but if there was no 4 wheel drive, no automatic, no power steering, forget it.
Told Zoë and she saw a 2009 Element 20 miles down the road. Stopped, low mileage, everything we want, has some scratches (umm, that is not a problem) and was MUCH less.
She got home and the first people said they could get us a NEW XL would only be perhaps $500 more, maybe. She said no thanks.
This morning, we went down (pouring here) drove the car, bought the car and now waiting on something the car insurance people have to sign. So next week we’ll have a REAL car and only 20 minutes away instead of an hour and a half.
Jeez Louise . . .
1:21 pm on October 14th, 2011
I’ll definitely keep y’all up to date on any developments in the boating story. My first thought also was that he had had a heart attack, but I guess we’ll have to wait for the official word.
1:24 pm on October 14th, 2011
Odd!… Seems odd to me that the guy would leave his lights on and his house unlocked to go boating with his friend….sniff!sniff!….I smell a Rat!
1:25 pm on October 14th, 2011
On FaceBook there is a very cute picture of a Sibe puppy with the OleyHowlers!
Also, The Royals’ Mum decided to try the Kat Trap last night. Something went horribly wrong!
1:28 pm on October 14th, 2011
Has anyone read the book 2030 by Albert Brooks? Going twenty years into the future he asks the question could this happen in America?
Howlers: Waiting to hear the news about your new Kat.
1:45 pm on October 14th, 2011
Puppies!….Puppies are a pain in the whatoozie….snort!….Just ask my friend…heh! …So thank dawg it’s the Howlers with the puppy and not us…sniff!
1:48 pm on October 14th, 2011
Awwww…Katrina is a cutie pie – Even if she isn’t a kat!
Seems T&G would be experts on who Admin, Spence and Peter are. After all don’t they have the pictures to prove it?
1:58 pm on October 14th, 2011
Brooks!….Albert Brooks is in a new film called Drive. He plays a bad guy, which is unusual type role for him…snort!….This is one we want to see, but will probably wait till it is on DVD….huffle!….Bryan Cranstan from Breaking Bad is in it also. Ryan Gosling is the main character called “Driver”….heh!
2:28 pm on October 14th, 2011
That cute little puppy looks like a Wookie Jr.
T & G, Hate to tell you, but you don’t fit well in those kat traps.
The guy left his lights on and doors unlocked because he was planning on coming right back after a short boat ride. People in small towns or rural areas dont lock their doors. We never do, except when we are going to bed at night.
3:02 pm on October 14th, 2011
I ment to post this a while back but having 2 dogs all of a sudden is intense. We are calling her Karma. She’s getting spayed Thursday then is going up for adoption witha rescue that is based in Connecticut. I will keep you up dated about her. She is a sweet heart and Brewski Loves her.

Melanie, Don’t keep us in suspense.
That is a cute photo of the Corgies.

Karma!…Well, she looks sober…heh!….Keep her away from Brewski and his six-pack…snort!
3:31 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio, One of the cast members, R.J. Mitte, of Breaking Bad is going to be the executive producer of a documentary about a 19 year old girl who just disappeared from this area one day while going for a bike ride. He hopes the extra publicity will help finally solve the mystery. He became friends with the missing girls sister while fillming in Albuquerque
In different ways, the cast of Breaking Bad has contributed to this community.
3:47 pm on October 14th, 2011
Mitte!….He is so believable as a kid with disabilities on the show because he really does have cerebral palsy….snort!….Here is an old article about the actor – maybe Staff won’t find this guy too scary…heh! …He is perfect in his role just like every other actor is on that show. …wheeze!
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2008-02-20-breaking-bad-mitte_N.htm
SiberH!…Do you know where they film the show? My friend and I are going to enter a contest for a “Walk-On” part in season 5 and we need to know where to go once we win…heh!
3:53 pm on October 14th, 2011
I just found some more information about the dog who stayed with her master. She’s a Weimaramer named Sadie. Here’s a link to a television story:

Samantha, Karma looks loke a sweetie!
We can’t post a pic from th iPad darn it.
3:57 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio, I don’t know where they film the show. I would imagine they just use different locations around here. If you win, they will tell you where you need to be. Not to worry, mom and I would help you find it.
4:02 pm on October 14th, 2011
WOO WOO My Fellow Siberians have a new family member!
Since I am not allowed to go to facebookie, I am looking forward to seeing her photo here on the blog.
4:17 pm on October 14th, 2011
Mystery!….The guy died from blunt force trauma to the head. …snort!…I’m even more suspicious now….sniff!…It could have been someone him and Sadie both knew who hit him over the head ….growl!
4:30 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio, You have been watching too much Breaking Bad. You are seeing criminals behind every tree. Maybe he got bft when he hit the land going full blast. Just sayin…
4:35 pm on October 14th, 2011
Question!….Well, that explanation begs the question as to why he was going full speed when he hit the land….grunt!…. I say he was unconscious before his boat hit ground….snort!
4:40 pm on October 14th, 2011
Poor Sadie.
4:41 pm on October 14th, 2011
Show!….And Breaking Bad is not a mystery like this is…grunt!
4:59 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio. I’m definitely with you that this whole boat thing is very suspicious. Also, I’ll definitely make sure the muffler is fixed and maybe even get the shocks replaced too. No bumpy ride for us! Your friend will never know that you are gone. Wookie
4:59 pm on October 14th, 2011
We’re just funnin’ ya Rio. If Barb had the kahunnas she would be watching BB herself, but she is a woose.
Bee, To get back to your comment about Kelly’s FIL. Yes, he needs professional help because he has brain damage due to the long term alcohol abuse. It is called Korsakoff psychosis, which is related to the Wernicke syndrone. Basically he has severe physical and mental problems from long term abuse. They were rich and his wife did a amazing job of enabling and hiding all this for years. When she died he went off the deep end. He refuses any kind of help, so last time they got him in the hospital it was when he was passed out. They are making a last ditch effort to possibly kidnap him and forcefully take him to a rehab center tomorrow, but I don’t think it will work. He has to be willing to sign himself in once they get him there.
5:18 pm on October 14th, 2011
Thanks Kirby for the link. We will be following the investigation. What a beautiful dog Sadie is! Four days is a long time to stick by her master’s side.
Rio: I wonder how long the wait will be for Season Five of Breaking Bad. The final one, sob! Interesting article on the young man that plays Walter Jr.
Siber-H: Didn’t know the show was filmed in your area.
Samantha: Brewski would love it if you could keep Karma. Any chance of it?
Dima & Meashka: Saw the picture of you with your mom and pop picking up the newest addition to the family. How old is she? I forgot.
Melanie: It is hard to believe those salespeople at the dealerships (well, maybe not) trying to convince you to buy something you didn’t want.
5:24 pm on October 14th, 2011
Hi Masquers!
Kat is only 4 months old, and was picked up as a stray. Can you believe it? Are you able to post the pic that is on FB?
5:55 pm on October 14th, 2011
Bear!… Have you been watching the show? …snort!… Did all those references to New Mexico, not to mention the Desert, just go right over your fuzzy head?….gruffle!
6:10 pm on October 14th, 2011
BSD: Truer words were never spoken with the photo you posted this morning.
I say a service member of the nation. She, a large black poodle looked at me as if to say, “Yes, I know my tail is fierce, but I can’t talk about it now. I have work to do.”
6:14 pm on October 14th, 2011
Here it is (I hope)
6:23 pm on October 14th, 2011
Yes, Rio, we knew the show was set in New Mexico. I can see some big-time withdrawal pangs ahead for us until Breaking Bad returns. We found an audio link on AMC with featured cast members discussing latest episodes. I’ll see if I can find it.
6:26 pm on October 14th, 2011
Thank You Masquers!!
Meashka looks happy. Dima seems to be thinking about it, but he knows everything will be okay.
tee hee Another red-headed Siber girl. LOVE the eye makeup!
Mom says, “WHAT A CUTE PUPPY!”
We are so happy Kat has found a forever home. It is upsetting to think of that youngster out on her own as a stray, but all is well now.
6:44 pm on October 14th, 2011
Barb and MagPie, check your SDD.
That puppy is adorable!
Riö, still haven’t talked to YSAS about BB and how he’s enjoying it. He’s worked 6 pm to 6 am the last two nights.
Hi B! Haven’t talked to you for awhile!
6:47 pm on October 14th, 2011
Rio: As a Future Winner of the Walk-On part in Season 5, you have obviously explored the site. But, just in case you somehow missed it here is the link for the podcast.

6:55 pm on October 14th, 2011
Hi Melanie. How are you doing?
7:47 pm on October 14th, 2011
Riö: Asked YSAS about BB. He’s in the middle of season 2 and asks if you could keep your paws crossed that his internet keeps going. Been intermittent the last few days.
B.Stover: Doing pretty well. Glad the car search is actually over. 🙂 Certainly busy, can’t remember with what. But my days are full. I’m glad you’re enjoying teaching.
7:59 pm on October 14th, 2011
Oley Howlers: Congratulations on your new Kat.
Samantha: Thanks for the photo and update on Karma, a beautiful dog.
Melanie: Did you see what the Royal’s mum is going to put in the MMS? Is that it? Good news about the new car.
8:01 pm on October 14th, 2011
I especially enjoy teaching the Modern Period and it was World War I that brought that about more quickly than it would otherwise have happened.
8:14 pm on October 14th, 2011
BearSpiritDog: I felt the same way when I finished White Wings. Isn’t that a great book?
Masquers: That is a good looking Kat! Congratulations!
8:18 pm on October 14th, 2011
I’m at Sam’s and catching up on everything. Mom loves Samantha’s found puppy and the Howlers’ new Kat.
8:21 pm on October 14th, 2011
I went to the crafty store today looking for inspiration for the MMCS. I couldn’t find any. They must be out. I should have asked them to look in the back. I do have a couple of ideas that have been rolling around in my mind for a while. I’ll post or describe my ideas later.
While I was at the crafty store I did find a small something that reminded me of Rio. It was on the clearance rack and I couldn’t resist. He’ll just have to wait until March.
Howlers: ConKatulations!!!
8:21 pm on October 14th, 2011
OMD, the puppy is adorable. Hard to believe she was running around and no one was looking for her! That is just crazy. She is a beautiful girl and a lovely addition to your gang. Great picture of the folks as well.
Melanie, Checked our SDD and sent one back to you.
Going to eat dinner and chill for awhile. BBL

Sally isn’t a red-headed Siber, though. tee hee Beware of the red-headed girl Sibers. My dear friend, Molly, the Husky is one.

Miss Macy, Thanks for the photo!
Harry and Sally and their mom jog by my dog park most mornings. Harry is pushed along in the baby stroller and enjoys it. On the weekends, their dad jogs with them. They are a lovely family.
9:39 pm on October 14th, 2011
Stroller!…SiberH, can you find out where they got that stroller?…snort!….Maybe if my friend had one, then jsut maybe.…hmmm!… That Harry is one lucky Pug…grunt!

I know a little pug that is trying to get out of the brutal walk.
I’ll find out where they got it but I imagine they can be bought at big “outdoorsey” stores…like R.E.I. Or, they could probably be bought at baby stores. Good grief…I know nothing about baby stores.

Walk!… That’s the problem SiberH, I can’t get out of the Brutal Walk…grunt!…I had to go almost every night this week, except for 2 nights when she went to that other place, it would have been more if not for that damned tetanus shot….wheeze! cough!….Even tonight I had to go on the Walk…sneeze!…Although, I have to admit it is getting a bit easier, not that I enjoy it or anything, but the pain has lessoned. Just a tiny little bit…..grunt!

The walk is very good for you, Rio, and your friend got an excellent report from her doctor this week so the walk is helping both of you. I’m glad she is feeling so much better.
The tetanus shot is worse than the flu shot.

Redbone!….Did Brother Redbone ever decide if he was going to Alaska or not?…heh!…I know there was some discussion about his ears as insulation or sumthing…sniff! …All that loose skin would probably keep him warm, just like it keeps him cool in the hot summer time…wheeze! …Or just a slug or two of his shine would keep us all warm…heh!
Birds!…The Red Birds are acting like they are serious about this series finally!…wooooooo!

Howlers – we are envious – that is one BEAUTIFUL baby girl! Congratulations!
Samantha – blessings to you for your good heart
Melanie – keep on truckin in your wonderful new car!
BlueCat – you made our day. We will give your suggestion serious thought. Promise.
We are watching that 20/20 show. Its hard to watch. Mama and Dad are both kind of moist in the eyes. But it is such a complex issue, one hour on tv can’t begin to touch on the subject.
Macy – we are waiting to hear good news about Angie

My two-legged lady re-read the original email from the casting director. It says something, something congratulations, you’ve been chosen as a feature musher and “best damn handling wife” for the sizzle/demo reel. Featured! I don’t know why anyone is showing a video of their feet to Hollywood types. They only have two and they don’t keep them clean. Not like I do. I’ve never seen them lick their feet after running through the mud.
Rio: My two-legged says that as long as I’m on here sulking, to tell you that the surprise has the potentional to be a toy. She said maybe a toy isn’t the best use as it seems the last toy tried to off your friend in the middle of the night.

Toy!….Never you mind what my toys do or don’t do to my friend….snort!…One can never have enough toys to go around. …wuffle! …And that’s the Pug Truth…sniff!

Belle Starr!… sniff!… My friend just reminded me that we forgot to send your gal sumthing because of all the hassle getting ready for and going on that trip to Iowa…grunt!… So she thinks maybe she can get her act together and get this something into snail mail this weekend…wuffle!…I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was her…heh!

Rio: My lady is supposed to be doing dishes while the tall, red-bearded one does dog chores. Instead she telling me what to write. She wants me to say things like: Tell Rio’s friend that is nice of her to think of us, she doesn’t need to send anything, and I hope it didn’t put any burden on Rio. Back to work mama! It’s a toy for me, isn’t it?

Wow!….The St. Louis Cardinals are one game away from going to the World Series!…heh!….How exciting!…Wooooooo!

T & G, We watched Children of the Plains, too. Barb usually gets more teary over animal shows than people shows, but that one had her needing a tissue or two. The poverty and living conditions, the alcoholism, poor health and depression are so opressive, but yet you have these little flowers blooming amongst all the devastation. Those children are the hope for the future, and maybe some day we will be talking about President Looks Twice.

Oh, no! A gruffle and snuffle sounds like I’m in trouble.

T&G and B&M: I hope I can find that show online. It sounds like a must see.
B&M: I can’t remember if it was you that said you like to watch Modern Family. If so, I watched the latest episode online last night and laughed until I cried. “We have a runner!”
11:29 pm on October 14th, 2011
20/20!…. We should have watched that show, but our baseball obsession got the best of us tonight…wuffle!… I like the sound of a President called “Looks Twice”…snort!…That sounds very reassuring, unlike the one we got who could be called “Counting Campaign Money”….grump!

Well Nick Punto sure knows how to choose a team. I wonder if he thinks about when the Twins cut him and blesses his good luck. Sniff. I guess I am happy for him. He wouldn’t be playing still if he hadn’t been cut. Stupid Twins.
Go Cards!
If Mom, Maggie knew that I was cheering for the Cards she would give me ‘what for’. The Cards and the Tigers (her team when she was growing up in Alma MI)have a rivalry that goes back to the days of that evil Cards pitcher, Dizzy Dean.
Here is a little bit from Wikipedia on the 1934 world Series. The Cards vs. the Tigers.
“Dean was known for antics which inspired his nickname. In time, perception became reality.
In Game 4 of the 1934 World Series against the Detroit Tigers, Dean was sent to first base as a pinch runner. The next batter hit a potential double play groundball. Intent on avoiding the double play, Dean threw himself in front of the throw to first. The ball struck him on the head, and Dean was knocked unconscious and taken to a hospital.
The storied (and possibly apocryphal) sports-section headline the next day said, “X-ray of Dean’s head reveals nothing.”
Although the Tigers went on the win the game 10-4, Dean recovered in time to pitch in Games 5 and 7 and put the Series away for the Cardinals.”

GAH!….Even the post-game announcers are saying “It looked like the Brewers gave the game away.”…grunt!… What is going on? I don’t like it one bit. ,,,, dammit!… sniff!
Staff!…That is hilarious about Dizzy Dean! What a guy….snort!
Good-Night!….My friend says tomorrow is a big MMCS Day…wheeze! …She will be making as many gift cards as she possibly can…honk!sneeze!…We will see about that!…gruffle!

T&G: Thanks for alerting us to the 20/20 show about Pine Ridge. Yes, it was hard to watch. And yet, there was future president Looks Twice with a smile that would light up the darkest night. May his dreams come true.

Angie, mom and all us quadrupeds thank you all for your well wishes. The nice lady doc says that it may be 2 weeks before the results are back. Big sigh. Angie is not a fan of waiting.
Oh, and….GO RANGERS…The mom of the man who died after falling over the rail said that the Rangers were waiting to win it at home, watched over by her son’s spirit. No pressure guys, really!
