I will never forget that day.
8:31 am on September 11th, 2014
We remember says it all. I think everyone remembers the exact moment they heard about that awful morning.

Good morning all.

Good morning all.
10:29 am on September 11th, 2014
Greetings everyone.
Yes, we remember the senseless violence that has taken so many.
We have decided that we are a small, but still significant part of the problem. How many of us watch tv or movies where bloodbaths are a major part of the “plot”. We are innuring ourselves to this type of violence – we don’t even flinch anymore.
What?
We should be horrified and shocked by violence on this scale. And it bothers us that we are not. We have decided – no more senseless violence cop shows. No more shows like Blacklist where the “hero” is incredibly cruel and cold. No more accept ion murder and mayhem as an excuse for actual story writing.
Maybe if more folks stopped watching these shows, the networks would get it, and challenge their writers and producers to stop the violence.

“Accepting murder and mayhem”.
Tripped over a corking otter whilst getting off our soapbox.

Any resemblance to anyone here is purely coincidental.

11:38 am on September 11th, 2014
I remember.
Golinka: I agree that television seems to reach new levels of violence every year. If we are to eschew the more violent television, surely we should include news reports of mass murders, wars and other violence? Any show that YSAS is in would be exempt, of course, and I’m not sure if I can quit Justified mid series.
11:46 am on September 11th, 2014
Justified!…YEEEEP!…This reminds me, I saw a commercial for the new season of Justified last night. I’m pretty sure we will not be giving up our Raylan Gibbons anytime soon…sniff!
11:47 am on September 11th, 2014
Belle must be part Husky. She has the shred and shed down perfectly!
Good morning all. I remember.
I have decided that I am living in Groundhog day. Every day just like the one before it. Bleh. At least it is supposed to get cooler. One thing to distinguish this day is minor sewage back-up in the shower. I REALLY am getting tired of single home ownership. Yesterday I finally parted with the $$ to get the yard mowed, in part because the city left me a nice little note telling me that the grass in the “flower” bed was going to get me a ticket if I did not do something about it.
I think the dogs have it right. 10:45 is the perfect time for a mid-morning nap. BBL

We’ll say mom remembers! 9/11 is on of the reasons she lives in Tennessee.

Hi Bear!

Mollypop’s Mom. That cartoon is funny!!
What? Who me?
Mom says, yes, you.
I shredded some trash this morning that mom should not have left out, and I am blowing my coat once again.
12:34 pm on September 11th, 2014
Mr. Shber H, Iffn ya don’t blow your coat at least 2 times a year, yer not worth your husky weight 🙂
12:36 pm on September 11th, 2014
The previous was an unpaid message from Sonja, Kahlua and Jenna, mom’s huskies who have crossed the bridge.
12:38 pm on September 11th, 2014
Riö: Thank you for correcting the Raylan foe paw.
Siber: We know you were just “helping”.
Where are the Howlers this morning?
1:35 pm on September 11th, 2014
Dawson: Yes, the Daily News has become quite Disturbing. In fact for our peace of mind We Avoid It as much as possible.
ML: Sorry to Hear of your continuing struggles. Paws crossed that smoother trails are in your very near future.
Royal Mum: Tee Hee…tripping over an Otter-Cork on your way down from the soapbox.
HOunds: How was the Education this morning? Any Eurekas?
1:46 pm on September 11th, 2014
BDS: still awaiting his royal hind-end to get moving, then, mayhaps, mom will get apple educated. P.S. Thanks to those of you who have tried to make a silk purse out of a metaphorical sow’s ear.

2:29 pm on September 11th, 2014
Good morning all,
Now that one season is winding down and the Iditarod season is just getting underway I thought I would take a moment today to share a visual image with all of you on a day of remembrance.
Iditarod like so many things in life is full of challenge and struggle. It is a learning experience and a testing ground for rookies and veterans alike. The trail can be a tough and dangerous place. There are many more moments however in the midst of the challenge where you find yourself on a long stretch of river trail in the middle of the night. You turn your head lamp off when the moon comes out and shortly thereafter the northern lights follow along behind it and you find yourself sailing silently along for mile after un-tethered mile. It’s easy to forget these moments when you face the challenge but they do return.
With that in mind… Rebecca and I are pleased to present the 2015 Snowhook Kennel Iditarod lineup looking forward to a great year.

What a great looking lineup. Mom is pleased to have net them up close and personal.
2:47 pm on September 11th, 2014
GAH! Not net…MET. Darned clumsy paws.
3:12 pm on September 11th, 2014
Sob!…Junior did not make the team(s) this year…sob!sob!sob!…I’m gonna smack that guy next time I see him…grumble!
3:12 pm on September 11th, 2014
39 dogs out of a kennel of 53? I see that the Little litter is all in and Chet is listed as “Rookie New Leader.” And Whitey is back this year. Two Snowhook teams in the 2015 Iditarod! My heart is already pounding imagining them going over mountains. GAH
3:18 pm on September 11th, 2014
Rio –
He was actually number one on the list. I accidentally didn’t select his name when I was copying and pasting.
He’s always on my team.
3:21 pm on September 11th, 2014
Go Charlie and Snowhook!
3:27 pm on September 11th, 2014
A-Team!…That list has to be a combination of possible A & B Teams, don’t youse think?…grunt!
AJ!…snort!…Oh happy day! I’m twirling and twirling and spinning and twirling!…splort!cough!
3:27 pm on September 11th, 2014
Sniffling a little here.
Go Snowhook!
3:30 pm on September 11th, 2014
Did you notice that Chet the Dog on FB changed his profile photo? There will be no living with corgis now.
3:32 pm on September 11th, 2014
Chet!…Why would he do a
Dumb Thingsomething so strange? There are plenty of Pug photos around. Heck I could send him a few even…grunt!3:32 pm on September 11th, 2014
Senior: You see that? We were number one on AJ’s list. That has to mean something, right?
More to Senior: On an unrelated note, could you do me a favor and check your blue suitcase for my eyebrows? I wonder if Lefty gave them to her when I wasn’t looking.
3:39 pm on September 11th, 2014
Junior!…I’m so proud of you!…sob!sob!sob!…I am still going to smack you when I see you for losing your damned eyebrows again…grunt!
3:40 pm on September 11th, 2014
Brows!…Those things don’t grow on trees you know!…grumble!
3:55 pm on September 11th, 2014
Our two most favor-ites are on the 2015 Snowhook Team: Whitey Lance and Clyde!!! Love those guys!
3:58 pm on September 11th, 2014
Chet is a leader! How cool is that!
Hey There…Pancho and Lefty
Let’s all think SNOW for Alaska this season of the sleddog.
4:01 pm on September 11th, 2014
Siber, Look! Whitey-Lance made the team!
4:02 pm on September 11th, 2014
Whitey-Lance, my hero. who did his own walkabout in Alaska is there.
Rio, Yes, I think that is a combination of A and B teams.
4:07 pm on September 11th, 2014
B: The photo was taken on a Walking Trail immediately behind our niece’s house. Miles of biking, walking and hiking trails plus a great back yard were definite pluses when they purchased the house in March.

Here’s Sawyer playing soccer:
4:09 pm on September 11th, 2014
Hurray for the 2015 Snowhook Team!!
GO SNOWHOOK!!!
4:12 pm on September 11th, 2014
Amalia & Melanie running together down the trail.
4:16 pm on September 11th, 2014
Maskers!…Amalia and Melanie were on the team that pulled me around….snorkel!…Two little black as night girlies. They had to be separated but not because they were acting up. It was that Rose who was causing trouble on the trail…sniff!
4:17 pm on September 11th, 2014
yes if you were all more like me you would not be watching much TV at all.
Thank Dog Rio Jr. is on the team. I would fear for his fur if he wasn’t.
4:17 pm on September 11th, 2014
Senior: You don’t have to tell me. I have left pmails on several trees seeking information on the whereabouts of my eyebrows. I am afraid the Giant misplaced Harris’ eyebrows at some point, too. As her mentor, I have given her a good once over looking for her eyebrows. Her tail is standard issue, her paws are all in the right places, her nose and whiskers are factory new, and she has an on and off switch above both of her eyes just like me, but nary an eyebrow is in sight.
4:20 pm on September 11th, 2014
The mystery is solved…the mystery of who Sawyer is.
He is a good looking dude.
4:21 pm on September 11th, 2014
Boy!…I bet the boyz name is Tom…heh!
4:28 pm on September 11th, 2014
Heh, heh. Good one, Riö.
4:31 pm on September 11th, 2014
I’m laughing now.
Is it the dog or the guy that is named Sawyer? I thought it was the dog.
4:33 pm on September 11th, 2014
We think every page on fb should have a Corgi.
4:43 pm on September 11th, 2014
RIO! Rose, (the pup), the small and mighty!
Rose, (me), always seems to cause trouble at home too!
GO SNOWHOOK!!!
4:45 pm on September 11th, 2014
Yay! Teddy, my bestest friend is up top (along with my hand and knee). I love that picture!
5:40 pm on September 11th, 2014
Team!…Here is a photo of most of the team that pulled my friend…snort!…You can clearly see Whitey-Lance. The llast two closest to her and AJ are Rose and Melanie…snorkel!…Hey, you can even see Mama Luna over to the left side helping bring the team into the yard…chorkel!
5:42 pm on September 11th, 2014
Wait!…I enlarged the photo and that is not Luna, that is Tenzing…heh!heh!
6:04 pm on September 11th, 2014
Masquers and Rio and Hobbit! We got our postcard of Beavis! Mom asked us where Butthead is. We didn’t have to look far. snicker
6:08 pm on September 11th, 2014
All in all, a HERD of good looking sled dogs !
6:27 pm on September 11th, 2014
We are doing a very important job – holding Mama down.
Seems she has a cellulitis thing in her leg. She is supposed to stay in bed with her leg elevated for 3 days while she takes massive doses of antibiotics
3 DAYS!
She says she will lose her mind.
We’re here to be search and rescue if that happens.
6:29 pm on September 11th, 2014
Yikes!….Sit on her Tupper!…yeeep!
6:34 pm on September 11th, 2014
We think Sawyer is the dog, not the boy. Do you know what Sawyer’s background is?
Thank Dog Rio made the team! And by the way, great line up. I think Whitey went MIA in 2011, which will be 4 years from the next race. Assuming he is around 6, so how long can he continue to race before retirement?
6:37 pm on September 11th, 2014
Three days of laying around with nothing to do, Boring! But guess you better follow doctor’s orders so it doesn’t get worse.
6:43 pm on September 11th, 2014
Mama says she will do as told so they can leave for the lobster place on Monday.
But she will still be bored. Oh well. Lots of time for reading. And snuggling with us us us!
6:44 pm on September 11th, 2014
Barb, I believe Annabell was 10 when she retired. Ten seems to be the average retirement age, but older Alaskan Huskies have completed the Iditarod Trail.
T&G You two will have to make your mum follow doctor’s orders. I will come sit on her if she doesn’t behave.
6:46 pm on September 11th, 2014
Amalia, you be good! Cellulitis is nothing to fool around with!
Doctor Billy’s Buddy Linda
6:46 pm on September 11th, 2014
T&G, y’all do a good job of keeping y’alls mama down. She is a VIP on this here blog. We are totally impressed with the Snowhook training team for this year. Mama Luna, keep those pups in line 🙂
7:22 pm on September 11th, 2014
I can’t believe that those little puppies I met in February are going out on the trail. Do they have a note from their mother? Of course, not all the dogs listed will make the cut, but we DO have our favorites.
When I left the open package of cookies on the counter for later I was asking for trouble. SOMEBODY has Nutter Butters on her breath besides me.
Oh, and I got my postcard days ago and keep forgetting to say thanks, love it.
7:35 pm on September 11th, 2014
Barb&Magpie: All we know for sure about Sawyer is he Doesn’t Believe He’s a Dog. In the wedding photo he is right in front wearing a little bow tie and giving a paws up his blessing to the union.
O’Howlers: Postal Card arrival! Thank Dog.
ML: We might have known a Counter-surfing episode was taking place. The Master, Trigger, is up top.
7:42 pm on September 11th, 2014
T&G: What poor timing is this? Right before the beach vacay your poor mama is having to be held down by youse Corgis.
Put this down-time to good use, Royal Mum. Demand breakfast, lunch and dinner on a tray. Threats of no lobsta’ should do the trick.
7:42 pm on September 11th, 2014
Oh, we almost forgot, our post card arrived today, too! Thank you, thank you. It has a spot of honor on the side of the fridge.

8:53 pm on September 11th, 2014
Postcards!…I’m so glad everyone is receiving their postcards from Alaska…snort!…I spent hours and hours writing out those things – just ask Nana…wheeze!
8:55 pm on September 11th, 2014
The postcard is very special!
9:04 pm on September 11th, 2014
My comment at 8:39 is awaiting moderation. I posted two video clips from the internet and I should have made them as separate comments. I’ll check back later, but might post them individually tomorrow if they don’t show up.
9:05 pm on September 11th, 2014
I think Staff got her post card first. I will be second to last unless LizF in Oz gets hers first. (Hi Liz! Hi Ruby Red Dog!)
Ooooh, we have an Iditarod Team list! Quig & Twig are there and Charlie and POncho? Who is Poncho? Oh, Pancho! And all the little Plunderer puppies (Dawson, the 4 legged would be so proud – so is Dawson the 2 legged). An excellent mix of veterans and rookies. And Whitey-Lance! This is our year, for sure. Go Snowhook!
I am going to some dumb meeting tonight. Grump!
9:06 pm on September 11th, 2014
Our postcard arrived today, too! Thank you so much! Mom is so ready for an Alaska vaca! Hopefully, she will be able to make it.
Team looks good, make that great! Good to see Whitey Lance back on the team. I believe he has been spending his down time making baby sled dogs.
And big nose JEM! WooHoo! Go Snowhook!!!
9:08 pm on September 11th, 2014
Rio, we vote for both auction and mercantile!
9:11 pm on September 11th, 2014
Aaahhh…Catching up on a difficult day, the fridge photo (is that really Beau?) and the Snowhook list has vastly improved my day and mood.
Royal Mum–Please stay put and get better (but what is cellulitis?)
T and G–Take your guarding duties seriously.
Snowhook is a bigger operation than I realized–so many dogs, and all so beautiful in so many different ways…
Bless you all for being here and beig yourselves (two- and four-leggeds).
9:12 pm on September 11th, 2014
Gah! that was supposed to be “being yourselves”…

Now it is time for bed.
