Pub Date News!

“Pub date tomorrow?” says Admin.

“For Tail of Vengeance, the new Chet and Bernie short story,” says Spence, “as well as the paperback of The Sound and the Furry.”

“Two for the price of one!”

“Not exactly.”

“But close, since Tail of Vengeance is only 99 cents. So folks – as our president likes to call you – why not buy both?”

“Let’s not be pushy.”

“Huh? This is America.”

Welcome Scout, Bamboo.

Good morning, everyone! Welcome Scout and Bamboo, looking good πŸ™‚
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, can we wait?
Magnificent Monday here, hope so with all.

Good morning! The ‘rents went to First Sunday, which sounds like some big fancy party, as soon as the auction ended yesterday.
So, we Howlers had our own party at home. Zeus busted OUT OUT OUT of a window, and Kat took off her fence collar. A good time was had by all.
Mom thinks the fact that Zeus busted out, instead of in, is a good sign that he has joined the pack. πŸ™‚

Mom also asked us to tell Bee she is sorry. Sort of.

I am also sort of sorry for B. We have tea! Heh.

B, you snooze, you lose. I wonder where that saying started?

CHobbit. I won the chicken watering system at an auction here in North Dakota. I had to have it explained to me what they were. They are awfully cute but if you use them for watering squirrels the squirrels knock them over. grump.

I have never tried them on chickens.

Going in for my hernia surgery today. Yippee! I haven’t been allowed any food or WATER since midnight and they say my surgery won’t be till afternoon. My mouth is already like dust. grump. They plan on keeping me overnight so I will get my Tale of Vengeance on the Kindle while in the hoosgow. I preordered it long ago.

I have remembered the charger and the kindle itself.

    Off to finish packing.

Hey everyone. We got the final results of the auction compiled, which are shown below by item #, name and winning bid. Please pardon that the winning bids are not in perfect alignment, but I slept through that part of my puppy Excel course. Consistent with past practice, the winning bidder has not been identified, and it is left to the winner to identify him or herself if the winner wants to. There was a minor adjustment necessary on two items, which resulted in a slight readjustment of the total, which, corrected, is $2207.

Heading out for some chill time at the beach with Kelly and the kids.

MWF girl just called and asked Barb if she could work for her Wed. Barb said NO NO NO! She is learning.

Have a great morning everyone, and Staff, will be thinking about you this afternoon. Will be good to get that problem fixed!

To answer Staff: The saying is from Aesop’s Fable of the tortoise and the hare: the hare gets cocky and takes a nap and the tortoise passes him and wins the race. (I think there is a Bug’s Bunny cartoon adaptation of the story.)

However, I didn’t snooze. I stopped bidding on the book on tea. I was watching the bidding for the scarf and the winning bid was actually posted after the 3PM closing time so it probably came in seconds before that.

Anyway, I hope that Staff enjoys the tea and book and I know that Howler’s mom will look lovely in the scarf. Congratulations both.

    Greetings all.
Staff – wishing you quick snips and rapid recovery.
CHobbit – we think “Hobbit” would be a cute name for the pup. He does gave furry feet after all.
Sincere thanks to the bidders for bears. We are so glad you like them.
Rio and Teddy – you da Dawgs!

B — Your surmise is correct on the timing of the final bids. There was actually a fairly intense flurry of bids that came in from about 2:53pm to 3:00 pm. With each bid, it is necessary to determine if the bid is higher than the prior bid, respond to the bidder, enter the bid on the master spread sheet and enter the bid in the comment section of the auction page, all of which does take some time. Also, some of these bids were actually bids for multiple items, which further slowed the process. Finally, the step that actually takes the longest is entering the updated bid on the auction page (that is where technology works the slowest), although that worked better on this auction than in the prior auction, where — as you may recall — the auction page more or less exploded on us. For all those reasons, that is why some of the final bids did not get posted on the auction page until after 3:00 pm. Fortunately, all bids were received/timestamped prior to or at 3:00 pm, so there was no need to have to reject a bid for late submission.

Bee, Mom was in love with that scarf as soon as she saw it. We reminded her that she did not know how to wear scarves. At the last minute, she found a webpage that she thinks will help her and so submitted her bid. She can’t wait to see that object of beauty firsthand.

Abbie, If I had known you were going for that apron, I may have let you get it. I wanted to be sure it went to a deserving feline. Am I the only one who thinks it’s funny that, in an auction sponsored by a dog blog, for the benefit of a dog team, there were so many bids on a CAT apron? !!! Cats rule!

Tomorrow is Pub date already for the e-story!? Now I have to figure out again how to get this book into my computer. This time maybe I will be smart and write down the directions.

Staff: I’m glad you are getting this surgery over with and that you will have the e-story to read while you are having your sleep-over.
    All that and jello too!

Tupper’s Mama: I bought the Purple Bling Bear with the thought of giving it to Zoe on the 26th as a remembrance from all us Plunderers and Lurkers to our Heart Friend. Martha had the same sort of idea so I know it is a good one.

Dawson, are you going to Massachusetts? Momma had planned on she and.I traveling up for the partay, but the date is the only date all summer that we can’t attend. We have our must-do event for our Humane Society. It is the date of Pints for Pups, which you all know is THE dog social event of the year around here. Momma is so sad about that, but if we don’t go, Dad and Meash and Zeus would miss it as well.
