Cold air was coming out of the freezer, felt good on my face, but Albie’s smell? Not good. Bernie put his hand on Albie’s neck. Bernie has beautiful hands – I must have mentioned that before, but it’s worth mentioning again. Suzie also has beautiful hands. Cedric Booker, the Valley DA has the biggest hands I’ve ever seen, and he’s a pretty good patter, although not in the class of Tulip or Autumn, these very nice young ladies who work for Livia Moon in her house of ill-repute, whatever that was. Cedric starred in basketball for Valley College, could have gone pro, Bernie says, except he couldn’t play with his back to the basket. But there are two baskets, right? So your back is always to one of them. But probably not worth thinking about, especially now, in  front of Albie’s freezer, and with Albie in it.

“Don’t think he’s quite frozen,” Bernie said, “but we’ll need the M.E. to tell. Before I call him, though, I’d like to – “

He went silent. I’d heard it, too, of course, but Bernie? That was a surprise. It was a moan, a human moan, faint and distant.

Good Morning all! Since Chet did not smell anyone until the freezer was open and most of that was a ripe Albie perhaps there is someone alive under Albie??

Just wondering. Have not caught up on yesterdays postings. Have not taken new pictures. Have just gotten up!

    Good Morning, all.

Things are settling down at home. Mom has been having some Anxiety but the boys are doing well. Let's see…..they were sprung on Wednesday, and so far, Chad has a girlfriend (recycled) and has already broken up with her, because she is not Clean and Sober. (Whatever that means. She smelled clean to me, but was wearing some smelly purfume.) Cody has a girlfriend (also recycled) and is totally twitterpated. This is going to be an intersting summer.

Ross McDonald….Did he write the Travis McGee series? Mom likes those!

Staff, we quilters have to stick together. (Sorry guys)

I think all the preparations are in place, except we have not have a recent report on the party favors. Rio?

So, the murder of Albie was apparently recent. My guess is that the moaner is Astrid! Hopefully, I was wrong about her demise!

My goodness things are moving along quickly now. Whatever could be next?

Yesterday we saw a really tiny baby fawn trotting through the farm yard after it's mother. Their little legs are just like springs they bounce around so much.

If we had dogs instead of cats we would not have deer in our yard. Or fuzzbutts either. I watched a very annoyed and frustrated fuzzbutt trying to leap up on the metal pole that holds my sunflower birdfeeder. Up he would leap, and down he would slide, landing on his fuzzy butt. He would try it three times and then leap around in frustration.

    heh heh heh

I sprayed the pole with olive oil Pam. He kept coming back but only tried three times at once.

I could see 5 fuzzbutts in the yard and garden all at the same time! I will probably have to put on more spray this afternoon.

I just looked at the post and it said, "quacky cover" with no puncuation and grammar checks, really. And it had not title, but underneath recently posts, it said 1586 or something like that for this post.

And yes, the murder is proved to be recent. Good job, all!

    ~Lexi honey,

    Chill out babe.

Quacky is a duck book for kids that Mr A. has written. He might be practicing for some more teasing of the 'people down below' soon. He does so love to tease us, and since he has been advancing the C. and B. story line quite well lately, I expect a major tease soon.

    Hopefully not a T* F* style teasing.

Sorry you don't like Ducks. I like birds myself.

We don't have any fuzzbutts in our yard. We have big trees, but they are Maples and fuzzbutts don't like that kind. Mom has a finch feeder, one for regular seeds, a hummingbird feeder and a suet feeder, so she keeps everyone happy (except me, I try to chase them all away when I go out). Her favorites are Woodpeckers, Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles.

I think whoever is moaning is not in the freezer. Maybe tied up in a closet.

The tree guys are her, starting to clean up the big mess.

Chet: What is it Bernie wants to do before he calls the M.E.? After he finds out who is moaning, of course.

WWWWW: Hurrah! You're back. Lew Archer was Ross MacDonald's character. John MacDonald wrote about Travis McGee. Lots of MacDonalds out there.

Staff: Spraying oil on a metal pole is the price you have to pay for not having a Mollypop. What a funny spectacle that must be watching the squirrel slide down and get frustrated.

  23. B. Stover
    6:39 am on June 16th, 2010

Lexi: I'd like to see you pout because as a kid I pouted and was teased about it.

Since the moan is "faint and distant," I don't think it's someone else in the freezer. And I think Chet would have smelled something else besides Albie if it were coming from the freezer. Actually I'm guessing that it isn't any of our main characters, but rather one of Albie's staff. I'm also guessing that what Bernie wants to do before calling the M.E. is look around some more.

I'm as curious about what it is that Bernie wants to do before he calls the M.E. as I am about who is moaning. I'm looking forward to the next few installments because I have no idea what is coming next in the story.

Staff, we once watched a documentary on tv that was filmed in England about people trying to keep squirrels out of the birdfeeders. It was funny, but at the same time, everything they tried failed. You have found a simple answer that works.

No birdfeeders or baby fawns in my yard because, well, you know.

I agree, quilter's must stick together. I am glad to see you posting. You probably are having a very interesting life right now and don't have a lot of spare time.

    Best wishes from the Kats!

This afternoon I have to dig in a closet to bring out something my sister (the other, non Dawson, sister) wants me to bring when I go visit her this weekend. It means moving a ton of things that are in front of the thing I have to bring her.

I have delayed it by cleaning up the cutting area of my quilt room. Unfortunately that is done and now I am delaying it by talking to you-all.

I did spray some more Pam on the feeder pole. The squirrels were winning.

    OK, here I go.

At least I will have fun watching the ballgame tonight. (Assuming I live through the closet unpacking).

    Right Rio????

I want you all to know that I do a very good job of keeping the fuzzbutts out of our yard. But sometimes I am in the house.

Mom put a bird feeder near the fence that was called a Squirrel Flipper – a tube feeder with a circular perch around the bottom. Mom would charge it up in the house and when a fuzzbutt stepped onto the perch it started going around, finally throwing the fuzzbutt off.

Then one day we looked out the window and a fuzzbutt was sitting on the fence and put out his paw to press on the perch to see if it would go around. It didn't because Mom needed to charge it up again. So he hopped on!

I think that fuzzbutts are very smart and cute. I let them share the food I put out for the birds. There is also the occasional jack rabbit.

Lexi: Dawson is correct. I think you would be even cuter pouting. Besides, it's as much fun teasing you as it is trying to irritate Rio.

Wonder how staff is doing in the closet.

Has anyone made any further decisions about who is moaning and where? In DOI Albie's house is described by Chet as "the biggest house I'd ever seen, more like a palace, surrounded by high walls."

~BStover, I prefer to wait and have Chet tell me what is happening. I tend to get frustrated when I have to speculate with insufficient data. I am the oldest child and need to know all the answers. Just ask Dawson, she will tell on me…er I mean tell you.

yes I have excavated the closet. Now the only problem is getting all that stuff back in it. I had to wait a while as AbbietheKitty wanted to go in the way-back and curl up on a box of something. I was willing to delay the work so I went away for a while.

Now she is out and practicing her mattress testing so I could get it done now….

    Doesn't seem to be happening.
