This is a picture of Baye’s Home Coming, not sure why it is upside down. Baye is second from right. These girls are all freshman, so age 14.
9:25 am on October 14th, 2013
Does this fix it?
9:26 am on October 14th, 2013
It does for my computer . .
I don’t remember 14 like that. I was horse crazy.
Here is a video that gave us some laughs. Reminded us of “training” Rose.

Good morning all.
10:03 am on October 14th, 2013
Greetings!
Happy Columbus Day! Although my busy place does not recognize that holiday, I did, and had myself a four day weekend.
B&M: Baye is a lovely young lady. I am absolutely sure that I did not look like that when I was fourteen. I think the word nerd was invented for me.
Wonder where the Christopher Columbus picture is from? It is beautiful!
RIO! Those pins were very pretty.
Wondering where Nana, Bear, and my dear Masquers are.
Tenzing: How is your Lady feeling?
AJ: keep sending tem Snowhook pictures. The one at the gas station was priceless.
Melanie: how are you and Franklin feeling?
Good day and good health to all!
10:13 am on October 14th, 2013
Thank you Melanie. I know how to rotate them in My Pictures, but couldn’t figure out how to do it on the blog.
You’re right, some of the girls look almost like adults already. Too bad!
10:27 am on October 14th, 2013
Teddy Ruff Rider, It sounds like you had a lot of fun up there in that place they call Vermont! I hope you got enough to eat, and plenty of snacks. I am glad you got to meet the Royal Mum and the Storyteller…they are such nice people.
Hope your mommy and daddy took lots of pictures, so they can put some up on this here blog.
10:35 am on October 14th, 2013
I have to drive home at lunch (1 hour), then back down to where I work (another hour) with Dima to get ultrasounds, blood workup, etc. why didn’t I just work from home this morning? I had a feeling i’d be doing this.

10:38 am on October 14th, 2013
According to Wikipedia, the portrait on today’s post is a posthumous portrait by Sebastiano del Piombo, 1519. Apparently there are no “authentic” portraits of Columbus.
10:47 am on October 14th, 2013
Don’t blame C.C. Mom doesn’t like graven images either! When she is gone, she’ll look better.
10:57 am on October 14th, 2013
(Darah here…) Hey Frank, hope you are feeling better. Don’t let them blame you. Know that because we are super sized peops think we are guilty. NOT (always) TRUE.
11:00 am on October 14th, 2013
Dima’s pop is now bringing him down, so I won’t have to do all that driving. We are meeting at Hope at 2:00. Dima’s white blood cells are low. 🙁
11:04 am on October 14th, 2013
Dima: you are in our pawrayers!
11:22 am on October 14th, 2013
HRH, B: Thank you for the information on the painting.
Dima’s Mom: I am not a four-legged, but I share something with Dima. I also have a low white blood cell count, and no one has been able to figure out why.
I will be thinking of out and Dima and sending pawsitive thoughts.
11:40 am on October 14th, 2013
Melanie, Mr.Staff and I loved the video. Especially at the end where he put the harness on himself and then the Newfie jumped on him.
Dima, baby. Here is hoping things get better better better and you are jumping on your hoomans soon.
Having a muddy Monday here. Rain all day and the wind is blowing the pretty colored leaves away almost before I can see them.
11:55 am on October 14th, 2013
Columbus Day should be Native American Day instead. First the Native Americans discovered America, and then the Vikings, and then Columbus.
Dima, You are in our prayers. We love you.
12:21 pm on October 14th, 2013
Macy, Will you please tell your Mom that an email from her was in my spam filter. Did she really email me 2 days ago? If she did I will rescue it.
12:22 pm on October 14th, 2013
I don’t know how one little 4-pound puppy can be so time consuming. I’m taking her to Sam’s to play some more this afternoon.

12:49 pm on October 14th, 2013
Dima, take a deep breath, put your paw over your mouth and nose and blow your white blood cell count up. If it works let me know. I’ll then try it to get rid of what I’ve got.
MollyPop’s Mom, love the picture! So true. I watch it on TV and take naps.
Puppies . . the thought is exhausting. I’m glad Princess Sam is taking over play time.
1:01 pm on October 14th, 2013
Siber, You are so right. Columbus was looking for India wasn’t he? Just sort of stumbled on America by mistake.
Good luck Dima. Fingers and paws crossed for you.
Melanie, Have they scheduled your PET scan yet?
Barb just planted daffodils and crocus. Thee tulips have to wait till she pulls out the annuals in the front bed. They are still blooming, so maybe next week.
Planted some mini, dwarf hostas around the bird bath in back. Barb saw one on Saturday that was called Blue Mouse Ears. It evidently is a rare one, because it was $20.00 on sale for $10.00. Barb didn’t buy it, because that seemed expensive for a little bitty hosta. Then she decided she really needed it, so there it is by the bird bath!
1:02 pm on October 14th, 2013
MPM you are cracking mom up……. and up…..and up!
1:03 pm on October 14th, 2013
Melanie: Another well-trained hooman. That is why I like Newfoundland’s so much. They make you laugh at yourself.
Dima’s Mom: Appetite-enhancing prayers sent for Dima along with hugs.
Mollypop’s Mom: Good one! How’re you feeling?
BearSpiritDog: I hope you can check in today and tell us you’re feeling tip-top.
Snowbella and Tenzing: Hope you are tip-top too.
1:10 pm on October 14th, 2013

1:34 pm on October 14th, 2013
Love the foto. Is there something mom is missing????????
1:46 pm on October 14th, 2013
Siber, we thought the photo was funny.
Barb is off to the apple orchard, meeting Kelly and the kids there for lunch. Then Josh and Jess will be back from their trip to northern WI later on, so Barb is making fish and chicken tacos for dinner at their house.

Doctor office is closed. Will know about PET scan tomorrow.
OTAS left after a delicious Sweet Potato Soup. He is going to email the recipe and I will put it up. Both my guys are great cooks.
He also took Bee Balm and Black Eyed Susan seeds. He keep asking if I was sure. I kept saying yes.
Loved having them here. Very tired and a little sad. I think I’ll go find the heating pad and take a nap.
BearSpiritDog, come be my pillow.
2:01 pm on October 14th, 2013
Howlers’ Mom – thanks for that photo. This is NOT one of our favorite days of rememberance.
Without getting on our soapbox, let’s just say that good old Chris mead a genuinly brutal man, a pedophile and a racist even considering the times he lived in.
There is a big parade in our hometown for this guy.
We will not be attending.
2:02 pm on October 14th, 2013
You guys, It is the water that I don’t think is funny. Mom thinks it is funny. (and pretty)
umm I did a very poor job of making myself clear.
2:06 pm on October 14th, 2013
Siber – we got it. You are a desert dog, even if your roots are in Siberia. After all Siberia IS a tundra and a tundra ain’t nothin but a really COLD desert.
And by the way – that typo in our last post was an otter corked. You know what we meant.
2:35 pm on October 14th, 2013
We love otter corked!
2:40 pm on October 14th, 2013
Wose: My Lady had a very rough night. She had a fever and a very sick stomach. She did manage to get a couple hours of sleep around five this morning. She is going to the office today. The Giant is on standby in case he needs to drive it to get her. She is not doing well, but feels bad complaining considering what Melanie is tackling.
Dima: My red blood cell counts are low, low, low. Maybe I can give you some of my white and you can give me some red and then all will be right with the world.
2:41 pm on October 14th, 2013
Thanks for all the positive energy for Dima. Kat and I came here to Hope so Dima would have backup. Grrrrr
3:05 pm on October 14th, 2013
Snowbella: Why? Are you not going to the doctor?!!file:///C:/Users/Jenifer/Downloads/How%20Not%20to%20Party%20for%20Columbus%20Day%20-%20ICTMN.com.htm
Carpola! I am screwing this up.
3:56 pm on October 14th, 2013
First, I am confused with Dawson’s post. Are you sw earing?
Second, Rebecca, what do you mean you can’t complain to this here Chet’s Blog about how you feel because of me? Forget that,Sweetie, complainmto your heart’s delight, and GET TO THE DOCTOR!
4:00 pm on October 14th, 2013
Tenzing, I would have swapped with you buddy, but my white cells are back up up up.
They think I have an abcess. If it’s not one thing it’s another.
4:02 pm on October 14th, 2013
Darah, Franklin here. I feel fine. They wouldn’t share their Sweet Potato Soup with me. I looked sad and placed my head on the table and everything.
I’m still NOT talking to Melanie. I ALWAYS talk with Zoë. I’m called her shadow.
Don’t understand that, but where ever she goes I go. I never leave her side, unless she’s asleep and all my friends here are having a party.
Sometimes what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
4:13 pm on October 14th, 2013
Dima? What are they going to do for the abcess? antibiotics?
4:34 pm on October 14th, 2013
Dawson, I’m feeling the same – dizzy and off balance. Tomorrow is my appointment with the neurologist. I’m hoping he will do a brain MRI.
4:49 pm on October 14th, 2013
SnowBella: it is hard to work when sick. I bet when you are well, you can do the work of multiple peoples. Take the time to get well it will pay off in the long run.
4:50 pm on October 14th, 2013
Dawson, is this what you wanted to post?

Siber, they put stuff under my skin that may or may not help that thing. They did a stomach scan and they stuck a thing in that bubble to find out what is in it. Not blood, thankfully. They will get results back tomorrow, and that very nice Special Doc will call Mom.
5:10 pm on October 14th, 2013
MPM, please let us know what the doctor says. Remember, there could be a BUNCH of things that could be causing this that are easily fixed!
BooBear

5:28 pm on October 14th, 2013
Tenzing: Please advise your Lady that seeing a doctor is a priority! Work can wait for a couple of days. I’m sure her coleagues at work don’t want her there either.
Dima: Pawsitive thoughts coming at you.
MPM: Loving thoughts and prayers coming at you .
5:35 pm on October 14th, 2013
MollyPop’s Mom, Don’t look at the picture you posted for very long. With your condition you might get sea sick.
Hope the doc visit goes well. Remember to BE the Bulldozer.
5:40 pm on October 14th, 2013
Loulou came here and I wouldn’t play with her. I stayed up on the couch and she can’t get up here yet. Ha ha.
5:44 pm on October 14th, 2013
Dima, Thanks for the update. The Special Doc will get you to feeling better and you will start eating agin. You are in our prayers and thoughts.
6:15 pm on October 14th, 2013
Staff, it may be legit, mom sent out a message about her e-mail being dead, with a new address. However, the old one has been resurrected.
6:32 pm on October 14th, 2013
Way to go, Sammie. LouLou needs trained like Mama Meash trained me. Of course, she did always play with me…pondering.
6:54 pm on October 14th, 2013
Sammie, It seemed like you and LouLou were getting along so well. What happened?
7:11 pm on October 14th, 2013
Let’s all get healthy! Please!
7:18 pm on October 14th, 2013
HOH: Amen to that!
7:29 pm on October 14th, 2013
I agree too. It is difficult to read about everyone being so sick. Sniff. We need a healthy transplant.
Amalia and Leonard, do you have some advice in a prayer like fashion about living in the moment and enjoying nature. When you write about it I feel it. sniff. I need to feel it again.
I am trying to move all the stuff that has washed up in the library. It is going slowly but it IS going. sniff.
7:58 pm on October 14th, 2013
Splorting!…My friend said there was someone at the new busy-place that was splorting her guts out….sniff!…Apparently, she and her co-horts can hear what goes on in the bathroom pretty clearly because there is only a thin wall separating the two rooms…heh!heh!…Anyway, if Rebecca is going to work and Splorting she is not making her co-workers feel very good….grunt!
8:02 pm on October 14th, 2013
Everyone here is exhausted. Zoë, me and The Pack!
Everyone made it home okay. Whew. I’m staying down here until 8:30 pm. By then the laundry will be done!
Talk to you when I’m upstairs.
8:12 pm on October 14th, 2013
My girl is far away in some foreign land and she has been splorting for three days now. She is so so sick and so so far away.
8:15 pm on October 14th, 2013
Staff – yes. See you at 9.
8:19 pm on October 14th, 2013
Sammie!…All I know is there is way too much splorting going on lately…grunt!…It has to stop!
Sniffly!….Staffie sounds all sniffly and sad…sniff!…I hope she is not coming down with some sort of splorting disease too…gah!
8:38 pm on October 14th, 2013
Back home and relaxing. We too want everyone to feel better and not need to be under the quilt.
Melanie, Hope you can get an appointment soon, and MPM, hope the MRI is negative for anything bad.
Bella, stop splorting and feel better.
We are counting blessings right now!
8:47 pm on October 14th, 2013
Sam? Can your girl get to a doctor?
Rebecca, Go to the Doctor!!!
8:49 pm on October 14th, 2013
And, I am worried about Bear, Masquers, and Nana.
8:53 pm on October 14th, 2013
Yes, Where’s Bear?
8:54 pm on October 14th, 2013
Flu!….Is there some harsh strain of flu going around?…sniff!…I now just getting the shot made my friend feel bad for about 5 days…grunt!…But all this splorting leads to dehydration which leads to all kinds of complications…wheeze!…And they are not good complications.
9:00 pm on October 14th, 2013
Creator – we thank you for this day of autumn’s coming. Slowly, gently, the earth is coming to her time of rest. We thank you for the lessons of her grace and beauty.
Creator – from the farms and fields around us, we learn that this is the time of completeness. The harvest endows us with abundance as pumpkins ripen, and orchards smell sweetly of their fruits. As flowers gently lay their heads to sleep, and vines softly curl, awaiting the quilt of snow, let us walk into this season with the grace of nature; taking the time to rest, and knowing that there will be a spring again.
From the animals in the forest, we learn that this is a time for readiness. As squirrels gather their bounty, as bears line their caves, as birds seek their winter home, let us also look to our homes and our loved ones to know that we are all ready for the seasons and changes to come. Let us walk into this season with the grace of nature, taking the time to take stock of our lives, and knowing that there will be a spring again.
Creator – we thank you for the butterflies and dragonflies that dance on the autumn air. It is impossible to watch them and not feel the joy they embody. Let us learn from them to dance with the breeze that happens to be. Let us learn to trust our wings to carry us to the next flower. Let us walk into this season with the grace of nature, taking time to feel happiness in all the blossoms that we have, and knowing that there will be spring again.
Creator – we thank you for the cooling air that brushes our cheeks. It brings playfulness to the animals as they leap through meadows, or roll in the grass, or run for the simple joy of being a part of the world. We ask that the crisp autumn air be as medicine to our bodies, cleaning away the burdens that have weighed us down, lifting our hearts, helping to heal. Let us walk into this season with the grace of nature, breathing cleanliness and opening our hearts to the beauty around us and knowing that there will be a spring again.
Creator – we know that the seasons must change, for this is the plan for this earth, and nothing remains the same. As we come into the beauty of the autumn season, we are thankful for the many wonderful gifts surrounding us. We ask you to be with our friends and family whose bodies need healing so that they too can be filled only with the joy of this time of year. Each and every one of our two legged and four legged family is precious to us, and we ask you to hear our prayers for Melanie and Rebecca, for Nana and Judith, for Dima and Tenzing, for Mr.Staff and Staff’s Dad. Hear our prayers for Rose and Sharon, Baby Jace, for Gracie and all that are dealing with illness or pain. Let us walk into this season with the grace of nature, arm in arm, comforting and supporting, loving and caring, and bound by the ties of our friendship. For we know there will be a spring again.
Creator – we thank you for this day of autumn’s coming. Slowly, gently, the earth is coming to her time of rest. We thank you for the lessons of her grace and beauty as we are surrounded by your love.
9:06 pm on October 14th, 2013
Amen.

9:26 pm on October 14th, 2013

9:29 pm on October 14th, 2013
Sneeze!….Dis brings to mind some well known Bible verses…snuffle!
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven
A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-15

Dear Amalia and Leonard. Thank you. I really needed that. While I read it my body just relaxed. Yum. Thank you.
10:24 pm on October 14th, 2013
Mr. Tenzing!….The fact that she is even at work is worse than any delusion Beau has …sniff!…Why does this make me so angry?…grunt!….Because someone I care about will NOT take care of herself…sniff!…That is what makes me so angry!
10:51 pm on October 14th, 2013
You tell her Rio.
11:29 pm on October 14th, 2013
Yeah!
You tell her Rio.
11:47 pm on October 14th, 2013
Yup – we are joining in. People who are ill should just stay home and get thru the illness. And see doctors when necessary.
Do not make us come up there Miss Rebecca!
11:49 pm on October 14th, 2013
Don’t worry Rebecca – we will just ship the Corgis up to you. Now where was that packing tape??
6:25 am on October 15th, 2013
Thank you Beau and T&G for such lovely words. I always feel as if all my worries, and poisons in my body are lifted away when I hear the words from the Royal Mum and the Storyteller.
