Friend of the Month Reminder

“Oh em gee,” Spence says.

“Huh?” says Admin.

“Last day of the month! Almost forgot!”

“You mean it’s already time for the July Friend of the Month reminder?  Check the right of the screen. See Beppe? He’s Chet’s June Friend of the Month. And just below him, by the way, are two friends who rotate through every time the screen is refreshed. But that’s a side issue. And speaking of sides, I’m really looking forward to your grilled corn on the cob tonight.”

“But the point is Beppe’s human companion sent in a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery. The random number generator – “

“East German Army surplus, circa 1956 – “

” – does the rest. Winner stays over there for the month and the winner’s human companion gets a signed and paw-printed – “

Yikes (or Birthday Thoughts)

“Well,” says Spence, “the earth has circled the sun once again.”

“Moving at 67,062 miles per hour, by the way,” says Admin, “so we’ve been in motion, if nothing else. And that’s not even taking into account our speed in orbit around the center of the Milky Way, to say nothing of the speed of the Milky Way itself, still zooming away from the Big Bang starting point, and at a velocity that seems to be increasing, meaning this particular universe is a one-time event.”

“It’s a lot to think about.”

“Cheers.”
