“Got the random number generator heating up?” Spence says. “Just about time to pick Chet’s new Friend of the Month from all the friends in the gallery. And might as well remind everyone that the friend’s photo is displayed in the special box over on the right for the whole month and the friend’s human companion gets a signed copy of The Dog Who Knew Too Much.”
“It’s overheating, actually,” Admin says. “I’m going to have to take it apart, but my guess is it needs a new transposer.”
“Or possibly a reductivor – won’t know till I get in there. Right now I’m having trouble just getting the damn cover off of the – “
What was that? A sort of KA-BOOM? Uh-oh.
Welcome Kat the dog.

“Here’s a nice story,” Spence says.
“The moral being – don’t litter,” says Admin.
“And we’re glad Lola’s okay.”
Welcome Micro the Great (that was quick!) and Kip.

“We didn’t really discuss Christopher Hitchens when he died,” Spence says.
“And now it’s too late,” says Admin.
“Humor, Spence. Black humor, or at least slate gray. How about we sum up by saying he was a very good writer and an outstanding speaker? And his essays on writers like Graham Greene, Anthony Powell, Evelyn Waugh, and many more, are the very best of their kind.”
“What about how he faced death?”
Welcome tough lifer, Ben, dignified dude, Sally, Chester.

“End of the month coming up,” says Admin. “How about reminding everyone about the Friend of the Month contest?”
“While you do what?” Spence says.
“Help myself to the last of the bacon,” says Admin.
Spence sighs. “OK. It’s easy. To be eligible, all you have to do is upload a photo in the Friends of Chet gallery. Then, on the last day of every month we crank up the random number generator and presto! The winner gets displayed in the special Friend of the Month spot, and the winner’s human companion gets a signed copy of the latest Chet and Bernie mystery, in this case The Dog Who Knew Too Much. And now for a nice new video from Melanie.”
Welcome Eleanor and Abby the hiker.
